  • Autonomous Mobile Robot(AMR) is a field of study which is under active research along with rapid development of the engineering technology. The main reasons for the high interest in AMR are because of its ability to change work space freely and its capability to replace human being for difficult and dangerous jobs. Also the fact that AMR provides a variety of research fields, such as path planning, navigation algorithm, sensor fusion, image processing, and controller design is part of the reason for its popularity. But relatively few researches are concerned with controller. So in this paper, a control strategy of mobile robot with nonholonomic constraint for tracking ordered discontinuous motion is proposed. The proposed control strategy has been designed as a state feedback shape to allow the AMR to obtain continuous velocity and track the path which is composed of discontinuous motions. In order to design such controller, 3 states have been reduced to 2 states through coordinate projection. These ideas are tested for validity through simulation and simulation result is compared with experiments result.

  • Recently, various research for intelligent video surveillance system have been proposed, but the existing monitoring systems are inefficient because all of situational awareness is judged by the human. In this paper, shadow removal based moving object tracking method is proposed using the chromaticity and entropy image. The background subtraction model, effective in the context awareness environment, has been applied for moving object detection. After detecting the region of moving object, the shadow candidate region has been estimated and removed by RGB based chromaticity and minimum cross entropy images. For the validity of the proposed method, the highway video is used to experiment. Some experiments are conducted so as to verify the proposed method, and as a result, shadow removal and moving object tracking are well performed.

  • An experimental multimodal system combining natural input modes such as speech, lip movement, and gaze is proposed in this paper. It benefits from novel human-compute. interaction (HCI) modalities and from multimodal integration for tackling the problem of the HCI bottleneck. This system allows the user to select menu items on the screen by employing speech recognition, lip reading, and gaze tracking components in parallel. Face tracking is a supplementary component to gaze tracking and lip movement analysis. These key components are reviewed and preliminary results are shown with multimodal integration and user testing on the prototype system. It is noteworthy that the system equipped with gaze tracking and lip reading is very effective in noisy environment, where the speech recognition rate is low, moreover, not stable. Our long term interest is to build a user interface embedded in a commercial car navigation system (CNS).

  • This paper proposes a hierarchical approach to shape model ASM using wavelet transform. Local structure model fitting in the ASM plays an important role in model-based pose and shape analysis. The proposed algorithm can robustly find good solutions in complex images by using wavelet decomposition. we also proposed effective method that estimates and corrects object's movement by using Wavelet transform-based hierarchical motion estimation scheme for ASM-based, real-time video tracking. The proposed algorithm has been tested for various sequences containing human motion to demonstrate the improved performance of the proposed object tracking.

  • Non-intrusive methods based on active remote IR illumination for eye tracking is important for many applications of vision-based man-machine interaction. One problem that has plagued those methods is their sensitivity to lighting condition change. This tends to significantly limit their scope of application. In this paper, we present a new real-time eye detection and tacking methodology that works under variable and realistic lighting conditions. Based on combining the bright-Pupil effect resulted from IR light and the conventional appearance-based object recognition technique, our method can robustly track eyes when the pupils ale not very bright due to significant external illumination interferences. The appearance model is incorporated in both eyes detection and tacking via the use of support vector machine and the mean shift tracking. Additional improvement is achieved from modifying the image acquisition apparatus including the illuminator and the camera.

  • This study focuses on users of activity tracking technologies and their related information behavior. How useful is the provided information by the trackers? Do users understand all information and explanations? We conducted a web-based survey. All in all, 631 users of a tracking device filled out the survey. From the perspective of information science, this investigation aims to analyze information needs considering different types of the provided information by activity tracking technologies. Are users satisfied by using the information on their steps, heart rates, and sleep duration? How do users assess readability about heart rate zones and sleep stages? Additionally, we investigated if users understand how to reflect on and adapt their health behavior based on the received explanations. According to the results, users mainly agree that the received information (raw data as well as - to a lesser extent - aggregated data in the form of corresponding diagrams) is useful, that the explanations are easy to understand, and that they know how to use this obtained information. This investigation enables an in-depth insight into how users are applying the self-quantifying activity and health information and which information needs are satisfied.

  • Object detection and tracking is the basic capability of mobile robots to achieve natural human-robot interaction. In this paper, an object tracking system of mobile robot is designed and validated using improved multiple instance learning algorithm. The improved multiple instance learning algorithm which prevents model drift significantly. Secondly, in order to improve the capability of classifiers, an active sample selection strategy is proposed by optimizing a bag Fisher information function instead of the bag likelihood function, which dynamically chooses most discriminative samples for classifier training. Furthermore, we integrate the co-training criterion into algorithm to update the appearance model accurately and avoid error accumulation. Finally, we evaluate our system on challenging sequences and an indoor environment in a laboratory. And the experiment results demonstrate that the proposed methods can stably and robustly track moving object.

  • In this paper, we describe correspondence among multiple images taken by multiple cameras. The correspondence among multiple views is an interesting problem which often appears in the application like visual surveillance or gesture recognition system. We use the principal axis and the ground plane homography to estimate foot of human. The principal axis belongs to the subtracted silhouette-based region of human using subtraction of the predetermined multiple background models with current image which includes moving person. For the calculation of the ground plane homography, we use landmarks on the ground plane in 3D space. Thus the ground plane homography means the relation of two common points in different views. In the normal human being, the foot of human has an exactly same position in the 3D space and we represent it to the intersection in this paper. The intersection occurs when the principal axis in an image crosses to the transformed ground plane from other image. However the positions of the intersection are different depend on camera views. Therefore we construct the correspondence that means the relationship between the intersection in current image and the transformed intersection from other image by homography. Those correspondences should confirm within a short distance measuring in the top viewed plane. Thus, we track a person by these corresponding points on the ground plane. Experimental result shows the accuracy of the proposed algorithm has almost 90% of detecting person for tracking based on correspondence of intersections.

  • This paper extends and enhances the existing inverse kinematics technique using the concept of motion characteristic capturing. Motion characteristic capturing is not about measuring motion by tracking body points. Instead, it starts from pre-measured motion data, extracts the motion characteristics, and applies them in animating other bodies. The resulting motion resembles the originally measured one in spite of arbitrary dimensional differences between the bodies. Motion characteristics capturing is a new principle in kinematic motion generalization to process measurements and generate realistic animation of human being or other living creatures.

  • In this paper, is propose to the object(human) dection method using geometrical structures and projection histograms in the image. The problem of existing methods for objects tracking of background subtracted is resulted from uncertainty at background unfixed. In this paper, two methods are applied to solve problem. This problems are proved by method. This problems is demonstrated by using this methods and applied to the train railroad crossing. Therefore, this paper aims that this contributes to improve the accident of the train railroad crossing.
