  • Point pattern matching schemes for finger print recognition do not guarantee robust matching performance for fingerprint Images of poor quality We present a finger print recognition scheme, where transformation parameters of matched ridge pairs are estimated by Hough transform and the matching hypothesis is verified by a new measure of the matching degree using selective directional information Proposed method may exhibit extremely low FAR(False accept rate) while maintaining low reject rate even for the Images of poor quality because of the robustness to the variation of minutia points.

  • 본 논문에서는 바둑판을 촬영한 정지 영상에서 격자무늬의 특징을 이용하여 바둑판의 최외각 네 점을 검출하는 방법을 제시한다. 바둑판은 수평 및 수직 방향으로 각각 19 개의 선이 격자무늬를 이룬다. 영상에는 일반적으로 노이즈가 포함되어 있기 때문에 허프(Hough) 변환의 임계값(threshold)을 이용한 선 패턴 추출 방식으로는 모든 선에 대한 정보를 얻을 수 없다. 따라서, 제안하는 알고리즘은 허프(Hough) 변환을 수행한 뒤에 추출된 선들이 이루는 교차점의 정보를 이용하여 바둑판의 최외각 네 점을 예측한다. 실험 결과는 실제 바둑판의 최외각 네 점과 비교하여 예측된 최외각 네 점의 에러 값을 제시한다. 이는 제안된 알고리즘이 바둑판의 최외각 네 점을 성공적으로 검출한다는 것을 입증한다.

  • With the increasing of cars, general studies of them for the traffic safety have been raised as important problems. Visual system to radio-controled driving is to sample road traffic information as reconstructing a model from lots of road traffic information which is successively input in order to drive on unknown road. This paper proposes a sampling process of the road traffic information board needed in automatic driving under automatic drive system using Hough Transform and Genetic Alorithm.

The image gradient detect with Hough transform after edge detection image from the B/W images. The value of image gradient detection control the servo motor to original position of the NTSC camera if camera base to the left or right tilt.

  • In this paper, a new technique to estimate the distances between a vanishing point and moving objects is proposed. A vanishing point for an input image is estimated and it use to extract distance form the vanishing point to a moving object. Using the obtained distances, moving objects is extracted. In simulation results, several performances for a test image sequnce is shown.

Structure Extraction in 3D Cloud Points Using Color Information and Hough Transform (색상 정보와 호프변환을 이용한 3차원 점군데이터 구조물 추출 기법 연구)

  • In this paper, a new extraction algorithm for artificial structure in 3D cloud points of terrestrial LIDAR is described, considering that various obstacles in terrestrial LIDAR make it difficult to apply conventional algorithms which are designed for air-born LIDAR data. Firstly we use the R, G, B color information from the terrestrial LIDAR data to discriminate among the massive 3D cloud points. Hough transform is then applied to estimate the straight lines that correspond to the target structure. Finally, the structure is extracted by comparing the distance between the estimated line and 3D cloud points. The proposed algorithm is efficient in the sense that it requires the user interaction only when the reference colors are obtained. Computer simulation shows the performance to be quite satisfactory.

Fast Hough circle detection using motion in video frames (동영상에서 움직임을 이용한 빠른 허프 원 찾기)

  • The Generalized Hough Transform(GHT) is the most used algorithm for circle detection with high accuracy. However, it requires many computation time, because many different templates are applied in order to find circles of various size. In the case of circle detection and tracking in video, the classical approach applies GHT for each frame in video and thus needs much high processing time for all frames. This paper proposes the fast GHT algorithm in video, using two consecutive frames are similar. In the proposed algorithm, a change-driven method conducts GHT only when two consecutive frames have many changes, and trajectory-based method does GHT in candidate areas and with candidate radius using circles detected in a previous frame. The algorithm can reduce computation time by reducing the number of frames, the edge count, and the number of searching circles, as factors which affects the speed of GHT. Our experimental results show that the algorithm successfully detects circles with less processing time and no loss of accuracy in video acquisited by a fixed camera and a moving camera.

  • Matching two images is an essential step for many computer vision applications. A new approach to the scale and rotation invariant scene matching, using linear features, is presented. Scene or model images are described by a set of linear features approximating edge information, which can be obtained by the conventional edge detection, thinning, and piecewise linear approximation. A set of candidate parameters are hypothesized by mapping the angular difference and a new distance measure to the Hough space and by detecting maximally consistent points. These hypotheses are verified by a fast linear feature matching algorithm composed of a single-step relaxation and a Hough technique. The proposed method is shown to be much faster than the conventional one where the relaxation process is repeated until convergence, while providing matching performance robust to the random alteration of the linear features, without a priori information on the geometrical transformation parameters.

  • In this paper, we propose an simple and efficient method to estunate the camera operation by using compressed information, which is extracted diracily from MPEG2 stream without complete decoding. In the method, the motion vector is converted into approximate optical flow by using the feature of predicted frame, because the motion vector in MPEG2 video stream is not regular sequene. And they are used to estimate the camera operation, which consist of pan, and zoom by Hough transform technique. The method provided better results than the least square method for video stream of basketball and socer games. The proposed method can have a reduced computational complexity because the information is directiv abtained in compressed domain. Additionally it can be a useful technology in content-based searching and analysis of video information. Also, the estimatd cameral operationis applicable in searching or tracking objects in MPEG2 video stream without decoding.

Design and Implementation of a Book Counting System based on the Image Processing (영상처리를 이용한 도서 권수 판별 시스템 설계 및 구현)

  • Many libraries utilize RFID tags for checking in and out of books. However, the recognition rate of this automatic process may depend on the orientation of antennas and RFID tags. Therefore we need supplemental systems to improve the recognition rate. The proposed algorithm sets up the ROI of the book existing area from the input image and then performs Canny edge detection algorithm to extract edges of books. Finally Hough line transform algorithm allows to detect the number of books from the extracted edges. To evaluate the performance of the proposed method, we applied our method to 350 book images under various circumstances. We then analyzed the performance of proposed method from results using recognition and mismatch ratio. The experimental result gave us 97.1% accuracy in book counting.
