This study was to develop and to suggest a lesson plan for the area of‘Human Development and Family Relationship’in home economics for junior high school, based on Thelen’s Group Investigation Model’. Group investigation model by Thelen was developed from the theory that the education with special purpose such as societic knowledge is a method to lesson one’s conflict. This study further developed from three main concepts： inquiry, knowledge and activities of learning groups. This model can be used for any age and any subjects in order to solve the arised problems, rather than to accept pre-organized and pre-decided informations. This study is organized around activities for seeking and practicing the rages of action to create dispersal home. First, one unit ‘Understanding of Family’was chosen that concerns and suitable for group investigation model. Second, From the chosen chapter and problem were analyzed organized. Third, the chosen problem were re-analyzed, then a model lesson for group investigation was proposed.

Doctoral professionals who majored Home Economics Education are relatively rare and recently have been produced in a limited number of institutions. The purpose of this paper was to analyze the Ph.D. Dissertation majored in Home Economics Education by research subjects and methods. Just twenty dissertations published in domestic universities were selected through internet search to be analyzed in this paper. This research showed five research subject areas of the dissertation such as core concepts and perspectives, curriculum, teaching and learning, teachers empowerment, and others. Each subject had three to five references and time difference in publication. The research subject related to concepts and perspectives was more likely to be studied in an early stage, followed by the subject of curriculum. The research subject became to be varied to teaching and learning and teachers empowerment areas. The research methods were associated with the research subject, as expected. Literature analysis was common in the subject on concepts and perspectives, curriculum, and textbook analysis, while survey was in teachers empowerment. Teaching and learning subject used various research methods together. Numerous dissertation with variety of research subjects and methods would be expected to be followed to develop research on Home Economics Education.

The purpose of this study were to investigate the socio-demographic variables influencing the communications and the adolescents' self concepts, and to define the correlation between the communications and the adolescents' self concepts. For this purposes, a survey was conducted using questionnaire. The data used in this study included 478 boys and girls in high school living in Kwangju. Statistics used of data analysis were Frequency Distribution, Percentile, Mean, Standard Deviation, F-test, Scheffe-Test, Pearson's Correlation, and Step-wise Multiple Regression. The main results were as follows; 1) The communication between fathers and their adolescents children differed significantly by education level , occupation, and income of their fathers. 2) the self concept differed significantly by sex of children, educational level, occupation, and income of their fathers. 3) The correlation between self concept and communication among fathers and their adolescents children marked positive correlation except Self-Criticism. 4) The mose influencial variables on communication between faters and their adolescents children were the Family Self Score.

The purpose of this study was to determine the extent to which Swedish group home for elderly people with dementia coed be applied to the situation in Korea. One hundred and ninety six Korean subjects, responsible for supporting a member of their family afflicted with such an illness in their own homes, comprised the sample population for this study. Data was collected using questionnaires. frequency distribution, mean, and chi-square tests were used to analyze the data. The results of this study indicated a great possibility for adapting these kinds of group home in Korea. The respondents showed positive opinions with the basic concepts and space plans of Swedish group homes excepts for some details, like the number of residents per room. The respondents felt that a group home for dementia with the fellowing features was desirable : smart scale, single-family detached house,3-4 rooms, a total of 6-8 residents, managed by non-profit organizations or the government at a monthly cost of 530,000-1,000,000 won. In order to develope these group homes for dementia people in Korea, political assistance, combined with economic support, are strongly needed. The successful establishment of a group home will contribute not only to the welfare of elderly people with dementia but to their families as well.

The recommended dietary allowance(RDA) and food guide are the basic and the most important concepts for practical application of food and nutrition to the dietary life. For the textbook contents analysis on RDA and food guide, 10 kinds of Technology and Home Economics middle school textbooks were examined. And a total of 283 students from 2 middle schools in Kyungkido were recruited for the analysis of students' understanding on RDA and food guide. The results o( this study were as follows. First, students were aware of food, nutrition and diet section in the middle school textbook as interesting, valuable. and easy to understand. Second, the explanation on RDA, which is the intake level of nutrients adequate to meet the needs of practically all healthy people, were not clear and enough in almost all the middle school textbooks examined. The definition of food guide was not firmly established in anywhere including the middle school Technology and Home Economics textbooks examined. Third, about 2/3 of students did not know the difference between RDA and physiological requirement. And $1/3\~2/3$ students did not know which food belongs to which food group, less than 1/3 students gave correct answer on food amount contained in single serving size, except bread, noodle and fish. As result, the RDA and food guide concepts were not throughly explained in middle school textbooks. which resulted in misconception to many students. Thus, accurate and detailed explanation on RDA and food guide should be included in the middle school Technology and Home Economics textbooks, so that to help application to healthy eating in the future daily dietary life.

This study discussed the major notion of backward design placing emphasis on performance and evaluation, and clarified the concepts of 'understanding' and 'enduring understanding' based on the literature of Wiggins and McTighe and previous studies. This study also developed a sample curriculum module for a consumer unit for 7 class hours based on the 'Understanding by Design' template. This study concluded that backward design can contribute to achieving student's high performance from evaluation planning prior to actual instruction, to utilizing learning with higher order thinking and skills by analyzing key concepts, and to reconstructing curriculum contents considering a teacher's perspective, students' needs, and each school's situation and context.

The purpose of this Study is to theoretically discuss the Family Business. Family Business means a business that is owned and managed by one or more family members. Family Businesses are seen as an avenue to achieve economic security, as motivations for a productive society, and as a method for individuals to receive a monetary return for their talents and initiative. The presence of family business as a predominant business structure in the all of country's economy and their association economic contributions have been documented elsewhere. The overall objectives of this study are to introduce in the Home economics and Home Management field what the Family Business is, concretely to identify the definition of Family Business and related concepts-Home Based Business & Home Based work-, to study the interface of family and business functions within a single family. This study is to examine a clear understanding of the relationship between family functioning and business viability in families who own and operate businesses. Such understanding will be helpful in enhancing the stability and security of families who own and operate business and in developing policies and programs that foster Family Business and assist in their contributions to community and economic development. Also to understand the family and business environments and their interaction can enhance the opportunities and satisfactions for family members who are involved in business together. Results from this study will allow researchers a unique view of the Family business management and will contribute to individual and group well-being in both family and work settings.

The purpose of this study was to develop educational objectives and content standards for clothing life area based on the theoretical framework of home economics education. To achieve this, literature review and need assessment on curriculum contents for clothing life area were performed. and expert meetings and a workshop were held. The results were considered in developing educational objectives and content standards. The educational objectives were developed in both general and specific levels. The curriculum contents were developed according to educational objectives in the specific levels in the form of content standards. Specific concepts for each content standard were proposed. The curriculum materials proposed in this study can be applied flexibly to the future development of national curriculum and textbooks.

Purpose: Behavioral symptoms in dementia (BSD) are one of the most disturbing behaviors to caregivers and a major reason for nursing home placement. Behavioral symptoms are often treated with psychotropic drugs (PD), however, the effect of such drugs for the frail elderly dementia patient is not certain because of their critical adverse effects. Theoretical model applicable to nursing practice for BSD in nursing homes, which is essential in guiding and evaluating such interventions, is absent. This article presents the process of developing a theoretical model of BSD in nursing homes. Method: Using Walker and Avants' theory synthesis method, three behavior models and two system models were incorporated into the proposed model to provide the theoretical and analytical explanation of the relationships between PD usage, its determinants, and BSD. Results: Resident variables and nursing home variables related to the two focal concepts (i.e., PD usage and BSD) were identified. Resident variables include demographical characteristics such as age and gender, and dementia-compromised functions such as cognitive and functional impairment. Nursing home variables include facility characteristics such as ownership type and size, and physical and psychosocial environment. Conclusion: The proposed model suggests that fulfillment of resident unmet needs through improvement of physical and psychosocial environment may produce better health outcomes of nursing home residents with BSD. Assessment and intervening environmental triggers of such behaviors are also suggested to be prior to the PD usage.

This study was based on the conceptual framework of Home Economics curriculum development carried by Korean Institution of Curriculum and Instruction. The purpose of this study was to develop the educational objectives and content standards for family life area In home economics education.
