  • This study aimed to analyse the initial results of five patients with symptomatic osteochondral lesions (OCL) and femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) who were treated successfully with osteochondral autologous transfer (OAT) and femoral neck osteochondroplasty (OCP) through surgical dislocation of the hip. Five patients with FAI and OCL of the femoral head who underwent surgery between 2015-2018 were studied retrospectively. All patients had a grade IV OCL, and the median defect size was 2 cm2 (interquartile range [IQR], 2-2). At the final follow-up, the modified Harris hip score showed a median value of 94 (IQR, 91-95) (P=0.04). Pain evaluation using the visual analogue scale showed a median value of 1 (IQR, 1-2) (P=0.04). Adequate graft union and healthy formation of the chondral surface were observed by magnetic resonance imaging. Although the procedure is demanding, the combination of OAT and femoral neck OCP appears to be an effective alternative in young patients.

  • This study investigated the effects of resin surface primers for rebase resins on the surface texture of denture base resins by the use of scanning electron microscopy. This study also evaluated the bond strength of rebase resins to denture base resin. The denture base resin in this study was Vertex RS (Dentimex Co., Ltd., Holland). The rebase resins used were Tokuso Rebase (Tokuyama Co., Ltd., Japan), Metabase (Sun Medical Co., Ltd., Japan), New True Liner(Harry J, Bosworth Co., Ill.), and Reverse (Nissin Co., Ltd., Japan). The test samples were divided into four parts: Group 1 : Treated with primer with brush. Group 2 : Immersed in the primer for 5 seconds. Group 3 : Immersed in the primer for 10 seconds. Group 4 : Immersed in the primer for 30 seconds. Control group : not treated with primer The results were as follows; 1. The bond strength of rebase resins to denture base resin is increased by application of primers. 2. Regardless of the rebase resin type, there was no significant difference among the bond strength in groups G1, G2, G3, G4. There was a significant difference with the control. (P<0.05) 3. Regardless of each group, the bond strength according to the rebase resin type was decreased in the following order: Tokuso Rebase, New Tru Liner, Reverse and then Metabase. 4. Under the scanning electron microscope, brush application produced a softening of the denture base surface. After immersion, all primers produced a spongelike structure on the denture base resin surface. The results of this study suggest that primers produce a significant effect by means of brush application, therefore it is recommended as the most convenient and logical procedure for application of the primers.

  • Objectives: This study was conducted to investigate the effects of a self growth program through MBTI on interpersonal relationships, and the career identity of nursing college students. Methods: A randomized controlled pre-post test experimental design was used for this study. The 24 nursing students were randomly assigned into two groups: 12 for the experimental group, and 12 for the control group. The subjects were junior nursing students, who were randomly selected from an undergraduate nursing program at K university located in Daegu, Korea. The data was collected from March 18 to April 1, 2002. The MBTI self growth program used in this study was based on the one developed by Shim and Kim (1997). The 12 experimental group students received the group self growth program through MBTI for 15 hours, while the 12 control group students received no treatment, except a series of tests. The Korean version MBTI test used in this study was developed and verified for reliability and validity by Kim and Sim (1990). Change in inter-personal relationships was measured using the Relationship Change Scale developed by Schlein and Guerney (1971), and modified by Lee and Mun (1982). Career identity was measured using the My Vocational Situation developed by Holland. Daiger and Power (1980), and revised by Kim (1997). The data were analyzed with the SPSS Win 10.0 program, through which the 2 test, t-test, and Repeated measures ANOVA were examined. Results: 1) The first hypothesis, 'the experimental group that received the self growth program through MBTI will obtain a higher interpersonal relationship score than the control group', was supported (F=5.295. p=.031. Interaction: p=.000). 2) The second hypothesis, 'the experimental group that received the self growth program through MBTI will obtain a higher career identity score than the control group', was supported (F=28.575, p=.000, Interaction: p=.000). Conclusion: The results showed that the ready planned self growth program through MBTI had positive effects on improving the interpersonal relationships, and the career identity of nursing college students.

  • Sky cover method can be used to determine sky condition by cloud amount of the Korea Meteorological Administration. And, HCI (Hourly Clearness Index) method is another method determined by measured horizontal global radiation data. The results of the HCI methods of Erbs et al. (1982), Orgill and Hollands (1977) seem to be not good enough because of the air pollution such as smog phenomenon or yellow sand phenomenon and so on. Therefore, HCI should be corrected. The aim of this study is to improve HCI. Therefore, this study is to analyze and compare on the sky conditions from Sky cover method and HCI, and then presents hourly correction factor based on Sky 채팩 method. The results of corrected HCI improved.

  • The purpose of this research was to identify the effect of human potential seminars on the perceived stigma of adults with epilepsy. The research employed a quasi experimental design and unequivalent control group pre-post design. The test was conducted on 15 adults with epilepsy attending one psychiartric out-patient clinic in Masan City, Korea. The stigma questionnaire was used as a pre-test to these patients. HPS was done ten times for five weeks from May 6, to July 26, 1996. The stigma questionnaire was again given, but this time as a post test. The control group of 14 adults with epilepsy were receiving medication at the same clinic. The human potential seminars were structured by McHolland(1972) and translated by Lee, Hae Seung(1990). The stigma research tool was modified and revised to be appropriate to Korean culture. It consisted of 15 sentences. The internal consistency was 0.92 with Cronbach's α. Research results are as follows. 1) To determine the homogenity of the experimental and control groups, the pre-stigma results were used and democratic-sociologic characteristics, job characteristics and disease related variables were compared. There was no significant difference between the two groups. 2) To identify the relationship between stigma and patient characteristics a pre-test was done. The study used both Mann-Whitney U-test and ANOVA test for statistical analysis. The variables related to stigma were the reason of unemployment and age at onset of epilepsy. 3) The test results of the effect of the human potential seminars on stigma in the patients with epilepsy, showed that stigma in the experimental group was lower than in the control group. The statistical method used to determine the difference between pre and post stigma results was the Wilcoxon signed rank test. The test results were statistically significant at the one percent level. 4) As a follow-up evaluation ten more patients(66.7% of the total) were additionally tested. In order to investigate if the stigmas were different between the pre, post and follow-up, Repeated measure ANOVA was used. The test results showed that the stigma scores were statistically different between the three groups at the one percent level(F=10.06, d.f.=2, p=0.00).
