국내 고속도로의 저소음포장 기술 동향 (About Quiet Pavement Technologies in Korean Highway)

  • The effects of vehicles and pavement surface types on noise have been investigated at the Korea Expressway Corporation's Test Road along the southbound side of the Jungbu Inland Expressway, South Korea. The study was conducted in 2005 and 2006 through field measurements at nine surface sections of asphalt concrete and Portland cement concrete pavements using eleven vehicles. For the road noise analysis, the sound power levels (PWLs) of combined noise (e.g., tire/pavement interaction noise and power-train noise together) and tire/pavement interaction noise using various vehicles were calculated based on the novel close proximity (NCPX) and pass-by methods. Then, the characteristics of the PWLs were evaluated according to surface type, vehicle type, and vehicle speed. The results show that the PWLs of vehicles are diversely affected by vehicle speed and the condition of the road surface.

서울시 중앙버스전용차로 포장방법 개선방안 연구 (A Study on the Improvement of Pavement for Bus Rapid Transit System in Seoul)

  • PURPOSES: This study is to suggest the improvement for bus rapid transit system in Seoul METHODS: The maintenance cost for bus lane damages and plastic deformations are increased by bus passing speed, heavy bus weight, and climate change (localized torrential downpour, subtropical climate) and the accident risk has been increased. RESULTS: Recent analysis of pavement damage indicates that bus lane damage caused by heavy weight is overwhelming and it is urgent to prepare countermeasures. CONCLUSIONS : Pavement data of bus rapid transit system, bus transit numbers and pavement damage elements were analyzed. By analyzing pavement maintenance, design and construction, the countermeasures for the improvement of bus lane pavement and effective maintenance were suggested.

아스팔트 노면조직의 파장길이가 타이어-노면소음에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Texture Wavelength on the Tire-Pavement Noise in Asphalt Concrete Pavement)

  • PURPOSES : Recently, attempts have been made to evaluate tire-pavement noise based on a measure of Mean Profile Depth (MPD). However, equivalent values of MPD appear to correspond to different levels of tire-pavement noise, which indicates that other factors such as texture wavelength need to be included to improve the accuracy of noise prediction. A single index to represent texture wavelength is proposed in this study. A consistent relationship between tire-pavement noise and texture wavelength on asphalt concrete pavement is observed. METHODS : Profile data and tire-pavement noise data were collected from a number of expressway sections in Korea. In addition, texture wavelength was defined by a Peak Number (PN), which was calculated using profile data. Statistical analysis was performed to find the relationship between the PN and tire-pavement noise. RESULTS : As a result of this study, a linear relationship between PN and tire-pavement noise is observed on asphalt concrete pavement. CONCLUSIONS : Tire-pavement noise on asphalt concrete pavement can be predicted from PN information.

현장가열재생 아스팔트 포장의 현재 미국 내의 적용 현황 연구: 문헌조사 (Investigation of Current Practice on Hot In Place Recycling (HIR) in USA: Literature Review)

  • PURPOSES : The objective of this study is to investigate the current state of the practice, examining the steps in the process recommended by various agencies and the Asphalt Recycling and Reclaiming Association (ARRA)-namely mix design, structural design, structural capacity evaluation, and material characterization-in order to better understand the implications of hot in-place recycling (HIR). METHODS : In addition, the current practice of state departments of transportation (DOTs) is here reviewed with the purpose of learning from successful past experiences so as to forestall any difficulties that may emerge under similar circumstances. Also, HIR benefits, including reduced costs, improved construction processes, and environmental friendliness are presented, as well as advantages and disadvantages of HIR application. RESULTS : Most of the United States highway system is now deteriorating so that rehabilitation or reconstruction techniques are required for the most distressed roads, taking into account ways to increase the effectiveness of existing budgets. Several options are available in rehabilitating distressed roads, and the choice among these depends on many factors, including pavement distress condition, funding, and design life. Among these techniques, Hot In-Place Recycling (HIR) has emerged as a cost-effective treatment for deteriorated pavements, and has been proven an effective long-term strategy for pavement rehabilitation.

오르막 경사구간에서 중차량 속도감소를 고려한 아스팔트 포장구조체 내부거동 분석 (Estimation of Asphalt Pavement Internal Behavior under Decreasing Truck Speed on Uphill Lanes)

  • PURPOSES : This study estimated an asphalt pavement internal behavior under uphill lanes considering reducing speed of heavy truck on uphill slope. METHODS : Truck performance curve which has been adapted to "Korea Highway Capacity Manual" was analyzed. And asphalt pavement internal behaviors were estimated with Multi-layered elastic analysis using KPRP(Korea Pavement Research Program) dynamic modulus prediction equations. RESULTS : As a result, it is shown that when the standard truck drives 2.0 km at a speed of 80 km/h in 8% climbing slope, it's speed reduced to 25.4 km/h, at same time frequency in asphalt layer decrease to 67.2% and it's dynamic modulus degrades to 30.9%. Based on these results, internal behavior as decreasing vehicle speed on uphill lanes were estimated. CONCLUSIONS : From the results of Multi-layered elastic analysis, internal behavior showed that when the standard truck drives 2.0 km at a speed of 80 km/h in 8% slope on uphill lanes, vertical strain was increased to 44.4% at the bottom of surface course, and lateral tensile strain was increased to 20.5% at the bottom of base course.

고속도로 영업소 광장의 럼블스트립 관련 소음평가 (Noise Evaluation of the Rumble Strips Constructed at Tall Gate of Highway)

  • PURPOSES: This study evaluated a measuring technique for tire-pavement interaction noise that uses a noble close proximity (NCPX) method as well as for noise level measured inside of a car (e.g., Inside Noise Level) in term of rumble strips constructed at a tall gate. METHODS: According to the measurements of NCPX and inside noise level (INL), 1/3 octave band frequency analysis and overall noise level calculation were conducted in order to evaluate noise levels of NCPX and INL, depending on types of rumble strips. RESULTS: The tested sections of general concrete pavement surface and two different types of rumble strips were evaluated, using 1/3 octave band frequency analysis and overall noise level. From the analyzed results, it can be concluded that rumble strips generate a relatively huge noise levels when compared to the concrete pavement surface. CONCLUSIONS: Noting that above 3 dBA different noise levels can let drivers know that they are getting close to toll gate; therefore, they should apply their brakes. Thus, the noise levels of rumble strips are required to be reduced, based on considering the neighbors living near toll gates.

아스팔트 포장도로(鋪裝道路)의 인장강도(引張强度)에 대한 신뢰도(信賴度) 고찰(考察) (Evaluation of Reliability for the Tensile Strength of the Flexible Pavement System)

  • 층상구조(層狀構造)로 이루어진 아스팔트 포장도로(鋪裝道路)의 안전성(安全性)은 교통하중(交通荷重)과 아스팔트 콘크리트의 층별강도(層別觸强度)와의 함수관계(函數關係)에 의하여 평가된다. 본(本) 논문(論文)은 아스팔트 포장도로(鋪裝道路)의 신뢰도(信賴度)를 고찰(考察)하기 위하여 확률론적(確率論的) 방법(方法)을 적용시켰는데 이에 사용(使用)된 자료(資料)들은 현장(現場) 또는 문헌(文獻)으로부터 수집하였다. 각층(各層)의 임계인장강도(臨界引張强度)를 목표신뢰도(目標信賴度)에 근거(根據)하여 시뮬레이션 방법(方法)으로 산정(算定)하였는데 이 값을 실제로 표면(表面)에 손상(損傷)이 일어난 시료강도(試料强度)와 비교(比較), 고찰(考察)하였다. 확률론적방법(確率論的方法)으로 산정(算定)한 임계강도(臨界强度)는 현행(現行)의 도로조건(道路條件)에 적합(適合)한 값임을 알 수 있었다.

차도용 칼라 역청 혼합물의 적용성 연구 (Applicability of Color Bituminous Mixtures for Highway Pavement)

  • 본 연구는 차도용 칼라 역청 콘크리트의 적용성을 평가하기 위하여 수행되었다. 칼라 역청 포장은 차도가 아닌 보행자 도로나 자전거 도로에 사용되어 왔다 본 연구에서 바인더 개질 및 혼합물 강성의 증진을 위하여 두 가지폴리머가 사용되었다. 또한 갭입도 혼합물에서 나타나는 침강현상을 방지하기 위하여 폐신문지를 사용하였다 마샬안정도, 간접인장강도, 동결-융해 및 인공노화 처리 전 후의 인장강도비, 소성변형 저항성, 피로수명을 측정하였다. LDPE 개질된 칼라 역청 콘크리트는 일반 아스팔트 혼합물에 비해 높은 안정도와 인장강도를 나타냈으며, 특히 소성변형 저항성에서 많은 향상을 가져왔다. Rosin 개질된 칼라 역청 콘크리트는 일반 아스팔트 혼합물보다 높은 안정도와 동결융해저항성을 보였으며, 특히 간접인장강도에서 많은 향상을 보였다. LDPE +Rosin의 개질은 거의 대부분의 역학적 특성의 증가를 가져왔다. 따라서 본 연구에서 사용된 칼라 역청 콘크리트 혼합물은 기존 AP-3를 사용한 아스팔트 콘크리트 혼합물과 비교해 역학적 특성이 비슷하였으며, 모든 혼합물은 차도용 시방 규정을 만족하였다. 그리고, 이를 LDPE와 Rosin으로 개질할 경우 포장의 공용성능이 더욱 향상될 것으로 보여 차도용으로 충분히 사용 가능함을 확인하였다.

신뢰성 개념을 이용한 포장의 평균수명 및 신뢰도 예측 (Estimation of Mean Life and Reliability of Highway Pavement Based on Reliability Theory)

  • 본 연구에서는 최근 10년간의 수원과 의정부지역의 국도 포장구간의 수명 데이터를 기반으로 신뢰성 개념을 도입하여 포장 수명의 고장확률, 신뢰도, 평균 수명 등의 정보를 산정하는 방안을 제시하였다. 모수적 추론 방법인 최우추정법과 확률지를 이용하여 최적 수명분포형태가 대수정규분포임을 확인하였으며, 본 연구에서 제안한 대수정규수명분포에 의해 추정된 누적 고장확률이 실제 관측값과 차이가 거의 없음도 확인하였다. 나아가 추정된 모수를 기반으로 신설 포장과 덧씌우기 포장의 하중별 평균 수명을 산정한 결과, 각각 6.5년~7.9년과 7.3년~9.1년으로 추정되었으며 상대적으로 덧씌우기 구간의 평균수명이 더 길게 추정되었다. 본 연구에서 제안한 신뢰성 개념을 이용한 분석 방법은 포장관리 및 유지보수 데이터가 축적되어감에 따라 비교적 용이하게 계속 보완이 가능하며 보다 정확한 포장수명에 대한 신뢰도 값에 접근해 갈 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
