  • The monolayer of oxygen atoms sandwiched between the adjacent nanocrystalline silicon layers was formed by ultra high vacuum-chemical vapor deposition (UHV-CVD). This multilayer Si-O structure forms a new type of superlattice, semiconductor-atomic superlattice (SAS). According to the experimental results, high-resolution cross-sectional transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) shows epitaxial system. Also, the current-voltage (Ⅰ-Ⅴ) measurement results show the stable and good insulating behavior with high breakdown voltage. It is apparent that the system may form an epitaxially grown insulating layer as possible replacement of silicon-on-insulator (SOI), a scheme investigated as future generation of high efficient and high density CMOS on SOI.

  • In northeast Asia, there will be several important HVDC transmission lines to be established in Korea and China for perspective electric network market. 5500V 4-inches High voltage thyristor can be used in the DC transmission and distribution of electric power system. In this application, many thyristors are connected in series for each thyristor valves. Therefore, the required low reverse-recovery charge QRR and low on-state voltage drop $V_{TM}$ for such thyristor is necessary to this application. In our work, the on-state and off-state voltage performance was simulated by commercial simulation software.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigated the ELF-MF emission level of various environments such as 258 facilities near located to high voltage transmission lines and 120 high voltage transmission lines, 17 underground cable lines. In addition, ELF-MF reduction rate according to separation distance was calculated by using simulations. An appropriate separation distance showing below 4mG was at least 70m. In the case of the appropriate separation distance for 120 high voltage transmission lines, 154kV required 20m of separation distance and 345kV required 60m of separation distance. The simulation results showed that the appropriate separation distance showing below 4mG was 40m and 60m for overhead 154kV and 345kV respectively. To adjust the worst conditions considering the aspects of environmental impact assessment study and the electric power currents that will increase in the future, the appropriate minimum separation distance for HVTL is judged to be above 70m in this study. Thus, there is a need to establish the greenbelt or buffer zone within 70m so as to create an environment in which the receptors are not exposed and thereby eliminate the risk factors of ELF-MF against humans.

  • EMF measurements for the selected lines by a kinds of tower configurations conductors among 154kV, 345kV transmission lines which are a standard forms of high voltage transmission line in Domestic are performed at the field. Based on these measurings, Co-relation of both the Power current and the magnetic field strength is studed. compared of measured and calculated magnetic magnitude. and Using the measured equation obtained from field measuring, Magnetic field exposure value occurring under T/L for one year(1997) is presented.

  • This paper measures the hot spot temperatures in a single-phase, 154 kV, 15/20 MVA power transformer filled with natural ester fluid using optical fiber sensors and compares them with those calculated by conventional heat run tests. A total of 14 optical fiber sensors were installed on the high-voltage and low-voltage windings to measure the hot spot temperatures. In addition, three thermocouples were installed in the transformer to measure the temperature distribution during the heat run tests. In the low-voltage winding, the hot spot temperature was $108.4^{\circ}C$, calculated by the conventional heat run test. However, the hot spot temperature measured using the optical fiber sensor was $129.4^{\circ}C$ between turns 2 and 3 on the upper side of the low-voltage winding. Therefore, the hot spot temperature of the low-voltage winding measured using the optical fiber sensor was $21.0^{\circ}C$ higher than that calculated by the conventional heat run test.

  • The insulation of cable which used for Ultra-High Voltage(UHV) underground power transmission requires excellent insulation capability for high voltage. The typical insulation materials are used XLPE, EPR, etc, but insulation efficiency of these is affected by void or alien substances, existed at the inside of insulators. In this paper, the partial discharge patterns of the defects within insulation cable are observed and analyzed. In this test, void, fiber and metal inclusions which possibly exist in cables, are simulated and investigated the patterns of partial discharges for each models Also the relations between calculated field strength and the insulation breakdown voltage. The experiment shows distinct partial discharge patterns in accordance with the kinds of defects within Insulation cable.

  • A distance relaying algorithm for detecting faults at power transmission line is presented in this paper. The algorithm is based on differential equation from relaton between voltage and current, which is composed of lumped resistance and inductance. During the fault transient state, the voltage and current signals are severely distorted due to the exponentially decaying DC offset and high frequency components, In spite of using small data, the presented integral method to evaluate R and L from voltage and current has high performance against these harmonics including DC offset. Therefore, the presented algorithm can be implemented with only a low order anti-aliasing analog filter and dosen't need any digital filter to remove specific components.

  • The single point bonding in underground transmission system can induce high voltage on the sheath when ground fault, lightning serge and switching serge occurs, at that time underground cable systems cannot offer a return path of fault current. Accordingly if fault current, which cannot return to ground, flows at the single point bonding, high voltage can be induced in SVL and that voltage can cause aging and breakdown of SVL. Therefore this paper study on the effect of parallel ground conductor at the single point bonding when ground fault and lightning serge occurs by using ATPDraw.
