  • A 3-5 GHz UWB radar chip in 0.13 ${\mu}m$ CMOS process is presented in this paper. The UWB radar transceiver for surveillance and biometric applications adopts the equivalent time sampling architecture and 4-channel time interleaved samplers to relax the impractical sampling frequency and enhance the overall scanning time. The RF front end (RFFE) includes the wideband LNA and 4-way RF power splitter, and the analog signal processing part consists of the high speed track & hold (T&H) / sample & hold (S&H) and integrator. The interleaved timing clocks are generated using a delay locked loop. The UWB transmitter employs the digitally synthesized topology. The measured NF of RFFE is 9.5 dB in 3-5 GHz. And DLL timing resolution is 50 ps. The measured spectrum of UWB transmitter shows the center frequency within 3-5 GHz satisfying the FCC spectrum mask. The power consumption of receiver and transmitter are 106.5 mW and 57 mW at 1.5 V supply, respectively.

  • In this paper, we propose a signal processing board suitable for a semi-active laser tracking to detect an optical signal generated from the laser target designator by applying an analog trigger signal, the quadrant photodetector and a high speed ADC(analog-digital converter) sampling technique. We improved the stability by applying the averaging method to minimize the measurement error of a gaussian pulse. To evaluate the performances of the proposed methods, we implemented a prototype board and performed experiments. As a result, we implemented a frequency counter with an error 14.9ns in 50ms. PRF error code has a stability of less than 1.5% compared to the NATO standard. Applying the three point averaging method to ADC sampling, the stability of 28% in X-axis and 22% in Y-axis than one point sampling was improved.

  • This paper describes a 12b, 50 Msample/s CMOS AID converter using an acquisition-time minimization technique for the high-speed sampling rate of 50 MHz level. The proposed ADC is implemented in a $0.35\mu\textrm{m}$ double-poly five-metal n-well CMOS technology and adopts a typical multi-step pipelined architecture to optimize sampling rate, resolution, and chip area. The speed limitation of conventional pipelined ADCs comes from the finite bandwidth and resulting speed of residue amplifiers. The proposed acquisition-time minimization technique reduces the acquisition time of residue amplifiers and makes the waveform of amplifier outputs smooth by controlling the operating current of residue amplifiers. The simulated power consumption of the proposed ADC is 197 mW at 3 V with a 50 MHz sampling rate. The chip size including pads is $3.2mm\times3.6mm$.

  • Alight-weight robot arm carrying a payload is modelled as a cantilever beam with a tip mass subjected to a high speed rotation. Equations of Motion, for modal control, are represented as discrete state variable form. Digital optimal control law with observer is developed to suppress the arm vibration and control the position of the joint angle. The effects of the number of controlled modes, weighting factors of the performance index, reference rotation time, and sampling time on the control performance are analyzed by computer simulation and experiments.

  • In this paper, The High-speed Low-power Analog-to-Digital Convener Archecture is proposed using the parallel S/H for High-speed operation. This technique can significantly reduce the sampling frequency per S/H channel. The Analog-to-Digital Converter is designed using 0.35${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ CMOS technology. The simulation result show that the proposed Analog-to-Digital Converter can be operated at 40Ms/s with 8-bit resolution and INL/DNL errors are +0.4LSB~-0.6LSB / +0.9LSB~-1.4LSB , respectively.

  • Currently, SAW Device has been used as a frequency filter using the property of passing only a desired frequency with a narrow bandwidth. However, the areas of activity in various fields since the permanent advantages can be widened by using a non-powered. These sensor tags using SAW Device has been done, but a lot of research, the development of the state still insufficient for Reader Platform. How to read the value of the ID Tag Using SAW Device has a time domain sampling (TDS) method and a frequency domain sampling (FDS) method. The purpose of the paper, we use the FDS method that requires high-speed processing with a relatively slow sampling rate does not require high-speed sampling. Reader Platform was the way to detect ID through PC as FDS way, but It is based on the Cortex-A9 processor and it works a low price, compact and real-time Reader Platform.

  • Information on temporal evolution of whole velocity fields are essential for physical understanding of a complicated turbulent flow. Due to advances of high-speed imaging technique, laser and electronics, high-speed digital cameras and high-repetition pulse lasers are commercially available in nowadays. A dynamic PIV system that can measure consecutive instantaneous velocity field with 1K$\times$ 1K pixels resolution at 1 fps was developed. It consists of a high-speed CMOS camera and a high-repetition Nd:YLF pulse laser. Theoretically, it can capture velocity fields at 20 fps with a reduced spatial resolution. In order to validate its performance, the dynamic PIV system was applied to a turbulent jet of which Reynolds number is about 3000. The particle images of 1024$\times$512 pixels were captured at a sampling rate of 4 KHz. The dynamic PIV system measured successfully the temporal evolution of instantaneous velocity fields of the turbulent jet, from which spectral analysis of turbulent structure was also feasible.

  • A high-speed and accurate analog buffer is proposed for mobile display using LTPS TFTs. The proposed analog buffer is common source type with sampling and negative feedback mode. Therefore, driving speed of the proposed buffer is faster than previously reported one. In addition, the accuracy is very high because of high negative feedback gain. The simulation results show that maximum mischarging voltage of the proposed buffer is 8mV and previously reported one is 37mV. And Power consumption of the proposed buffer is $43.1{\mu}W$, which is 73% of previously reported one.

  • In this paper, we propose a new and cost-effective RCP (Rapid Control Prototyping) system based on Matlab/Simulink and a DAQ (Data Acquisition) unit with the high speed USB communication interface. The proposed RCP system has a feature that a computer on which Simulink is running acts as a realtime controller and a DAQ unit performs data acquisition, transmission of the data to and from a computer, and the application of control data received from the computer. For its implementation, we develop 10 communication blocks each of which is constructed by using S-function. In order to increase the data communication speed and thus to reduce the sampling period of the overall control system, we propose to use a batch transfer strategy through the USB interface. The proposed RCP system has several advantages over existing methods such as good maintainability, portability due to the USB interface, low cost, and no necessity for C-code generation even though it can only be applied to control systems with moderate sampling rates. It is expected that the proposed RCP system can be useful in teaching control-related topics to undergraduate and graduate students.

  • The condition monitoring of rotating machinery such as turbines, pumps and compressors, determine what repairs are needed to avoid shutdown and disassembly of the machine in an industrial plant Many diagnosis methods have been developed for use when the machine is running at steady state, the stationary condition. But much information can be gained about a rotor's condition during non-stationary conditions such as run-up and run-down. Order tracking analysis is a powerful tool for analyzing the condition of a rotating machine when its speed changes over time. Powerful OTA using digital signal processing has some advantages(cheap hardware, the powerful methods, the accurate post processing) and also some disadvantages(calculation time, high speed sampling). New OTA tool based on the chirplet transform is similar to the short time Fourier transform. But, it has good resolution at high speed like other OTA methods based STFT and more resolution for constant frequency components than re-sampling OTA.
