  • Recently, high-speed Internet users and broadband network infrastructure are increasing. However, the TCP protocol widely used in the Internet is an appropriate transport only for the legacy Internet, it is inefficient for traffic transport for network environments with large bandwidth-delay product. In order to remedy this problem, there have been many researches about improved congestion control algorithms for broadband networks. In these studies, most of performance evaluation has been done by simulations. In this paper, after we reviewed the proposed high bandwidth transport layer protocols, we implemented a real testbed, measured the performance and analyzed the problems of high-speed transport protocols through the international research network TEIN2 between three nations, Korea, China, and Germany.

  • Increased network reliability is required as the size of communication network becomes larger and the bandwidth requirement is increasing. And preparing of backup path is required to protect the network from serious network failures in high speed network. In this paper, we construct multiple logical networks on a physical ATM network according to the ATM bearer service category(CBR, rt-VBR, nrt-VBR, ABR, UBR) defined by ATM Forum to support the required QoS(Quality of Service) and to manage the network more efficiently. We use backup path restoration algorithm rather than dynamic restoration to achieve rapid restoration when active path fails and we use fault management function in TINA. We propose a restoration scheme that is suitable for high-speed network.

  • Physically, AICPS consists of HSSF(High Speed Switching Fabric) and various types of service interface modules to support services of homogeneous communication networks. Functionally, AICPS consists of UANS(User Access Network Subsystem) to connect users with communication networks, IDNS(Information Delivery Network Subsystem) to connect Information-Providers with information delivery network, and LOMS(Local Operations and Management System to manage AICPS. This paper describes the structures of LOMS, ONAS(Operational Network Access Subsystem), which interfaces between LOMS and HSSF, and describes reliability improvement algorithms and construction methods of nationwide management structure of AICPS.

  • The importance of high-speed networking is ever increasing to better support multimedia application such as video conferencing. It is crucial to synchronize the network so that the delay between computers on the network is minimized. In high-speed LAN, for example, most computers use clocks with almost same frequency to minimize the delay for data transmission. However, because of the deviation of transmitter's and receiver's clock frequency and phase difference there can be a metastability problem. Elasticity buffer is to provide a solution for this situation and this paper presents an implementation is a high-speed elasticity buffer.

  • In this paper, we propose effective integration and operation methods for environment-friendly smart home appliance which are applying hardware integration technology using high speed Ethernet network technology and software integration technology using RT middleware. We also describe the integration of distributed hardware device by using high speed Ethernet and software integration technology by using RT middleware. We implement the integration management system of environment-friendly smart home appliance applying high speed Ethernet and RT middleware technology.

  • This paper is proposed hybrid artificial intelligent(HAI) controller for speed control of surface permanent magnet synchronous motor(SPMSM) drive. The design of this algorithm based on HAI controller that is implemented using fuzzy control and neural network. This controller uses fuzzy rule as training patterns of a neural network. Also, this controller uses the back-propagation method to adjust the weights between the neurons of neural network in order to minimize the error between the command output and actual output. A model reference adaptive scheme is proposed in which the adaptation mechanism is executed by fuzzy logic based on the error and change of error measured between the motor speed and output of a reference model. The control performance of the HAI controller is evaluated by analysis for various operating conditions. The results of analysis prove that the proposed control system has strong high performance and robustness to parameter variation, and steady-state accuracy and transient response.

  • With the development of networks, multimedia communication has expanded its application field. From the remote control for household electric appliances to medicine, games, video conferencing and multimedia chatting, multimedia communication is being used in all parts of our lives. This multimedia communication requires the transmission of a lot of data at high speed. But if the transmission rate of the communication network exceeds the processing speed of being used in the high speed network environment, a bottleneck occurs in each node and deteriorates the performance of the network. This is the main reason for the slow speed of data transmission and packet loss. In this paper, considering the client's processing performance, reception performance was predicted and the way of flow control was shown. The computing performance of relevant Processor and its performance was estimated through the actual implementation.

  • Korea-Japan Joint VLBI Correlator (KJJVC), to be used for Korean VLBI Network (KVN) in Korea Astronomy & Space Science Institute (KASI), is a high-speed calculator that outputs the correlation results in the maximum speed of 1.4GB/sec.To receive and record this data keeping up with this speed and with no loss, the design of the software running on the data archive system for receving and recording the output data from the correlator is very important. But, the simple kind of programming using just single thread that receives data from network and records it by turns, can cause a bottleneck effect while processing high speed data and a probable data loss, and cannot utilize the merit of hardwares supporting multi core or hyper threading, or operating systems supporting these hardwares. In this talk we summarize the design of the data transfer software for KJJVC and high speed, large capacity data archive system using general socket programming and multi threading techniques, and the pre-BMT(Bench Marking Test) results from the tests of the storage product providers' proposals using this software.

  • Neural network is used in many fields of control systems, but input-output patterns of a control system are not easy to be obtained and by using as single feedback neural network controller. And also it is difficult to get a satisfied performance when the changes of rapid load and disturbance are applied. To resolve those problems, this paper proposes a new algorithm which is the neural network controller. The new algorithm uses the neural network instead of activation function to control object at the output node. Therefore, control object is composed of neural network controller unifying activation function, and it supplies the error back propagation path to calculate the error at the output node. As a result, the input-output pattern problem of the controller which is resigned by the simple structure of neural network is solved, and real-time learning can be possible in general back propagation algorithm. Application of the new algorithm of neural network controller gives excellent performance for initial and tracking response and it shows the robust performance for rapid load change and disturbance. The proposed control algorithm is implemented on a high speed DSP, TMS320C32, for the speed of 3-phase induction motor. Enhanced performance is shown in the test of the speed control.
