In order to realize the high luminance and luminous efficacy MFFLs for LCD backlights, we optimized the phosphor profile to enlarge the surface area. The MFFL with the new phosphor profile shows a very wide luminance range from 2,600 to 17,000 nit with the corresponding luminous efficacy from 66 to 32.5 lm/W. The results were obtained with the color coordinate of the phosphor to be around (0.25, 0.23). And the single cell is expanded into a multi-structured configuration to realize a 32 inch-sized lamp by a simple repetition of the single cells, and a new driving scheme is proposed for an adaptive local dimming and scanning drive using dual auxiliary electrodes and bipolar drive scheme. Especially the ultra high luminance and luminous efficacy results suggest the duty time of illumination of the backlight unit can be significantly reduced.
In order to reduce the capital and overall operating cost of a fuel-cell system, a high-efficiency fuel-cell power inverter with a simple framework is required. The high-order two-inductance two-capacitance (LLCC) resonant technique is adopted in this study to implement a low-frequency 60-Hz sine wave voltage inverter utilized in the proton exchange membrane fuel-cell (PEMFC) system. The methodology for inverting dc voltage into low-frequency ac boltage is usually generated by the pulse-width-modulation (PWM) technique. However, the PWM-type inverter output has high-frequency harmonic components. Although an adequately designed filter could be utilized to overcome this problem, there are still some undesirable effects introduced by the high-frequency switching loss, electromagnetic-interference, harmonic current, and load variation. A novel power inverter via the LLCC resonant technique is designed for inverting dc voltage into 60-Hz ac sine wave voltage in the PEMFC system. This circuit scheme has the merits of low harmonic components, soft switching, high efficiency, and simplified implementation. The effectiveness of the proposed resonant inverter used for the PEMFC system is verified by numerical simulations and experimental results.
There is not enough mixed finite element method (MFEM) model developed for static and dynamic analysis of functionally graded material (FGM) beams in the literature. The main purpose of this study is to develop a reliable and efficient computational modeling using an efficient functional in MFEM for free vibration and static analysis of FGM composite beams subject to high order shear deformation effects. The modeling of material properties was performed using mixture rule and Mori-Tanaka scheme which are more realistic determination techniques. This method based on the assumption that a two phase composite material consisting of matrix reinforced by spherical particles, randomly distributed in the beam. To explain the displacement components of the shear deformation effects, it was accepted that the shear deformation effects change sinusoidal. Partial differential field equations were obtained with the help of variational methods and then these equations were transformed into a novel functional for FGM beams with the help of Gateaux differential derivative operator. Thanks to the Gateaux differential method, the compatibility of the field equations was checked, and the field equations and boundary conditions were reflected to the function. A MFEM model was developed with a total of 10 degrees of freedom to apply the obtained functional. In the numerical applications section, free vibration and flexure problems solutions of FGM composite beams were compared with those predicted by other theories to show the effects of shear deformation, thickness changing and boundary conditions.

It is well known that the constant modulus algorithm (CMA) presents a large steady-state mean-square error (MSE) for high-order quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) signals. In this paper, we propose a low-complexity hybrid adaptive blind equalization algorithm, which augments the CMA error function with a novel constellation matched error (CME) term. The most attractive advantage of the proposed algorithm is that it is computationally simpler than concurrent CMA and soft decision-directed (SDD) scheme (CMA+SDD), and modified CMA (MCMA), while the approximation of steady-state MSE of the proposed algorithm is same with CMA+SDD, and lower than MCMA. Extensive simulations demonstrate the performance of the proposed algorithm.
A numerical analysis has been conducted in order to simulate the characteristics of complex flow through linear cascades of high performance turbine blade with/without tip clearance by using a pressure-correction based, generalized 3D incompressible Wavier-Stokes CFD code. The development and generation of horseshoe vortex, passage vortex, leakage vortex, tip vortex within tip clearance, etc. are clearly identified through the present simulation which uses the RNG k-$\varepsilon$ turbulent model with wall function method and a second-order linear upwind scheme for convective terms. The present simulation results are consistent with the generally known tendency that occurs in the blade passage and tip clearance. A 3D model for secondary and leakage flows through turbine cascades with/without tip clearance is also suggested from the present simulation results, including the effects of tip clearance height.

In this work, first, a multiuser detection (MUD) algorithm based on component-level soft interference cancellation and linear minimum mean square error (CLSIC-LMMSE) is proposed, which can enhance the bit error ratio (BER) performance of the traditional SIC-LMMSE-based MUD by mitigating error propagation. Second, for non-binary low density parity check (NB-LDPC) coded high-order modulation systems, when the proposed algorithm is integrated with partial mapping, the receiver with iterative detection and decoding (IDD) achieves not only better BER performance but also significantly computational complexity reduction over the traditional SIC-LMMSE-based IDD scheme. Extrinsic information transfer chart (EXIT) analysis and numerical simulations are both used to support the conclusions.

In this paper, we propose a direct robust adaptive backstepping speed controller for induction motors system. A robust adaptive backstepping controller is designed using high order neural networks(HONN), which avoids the singularity problem in adaptive nonlinear control. The stability of the resulting adaptive system with proposed adaptive controller is guaranteed by suitable choosing the design parameter and initial conditions. HONN are used to approximate most of uncertainties which are derived from unknown motor parameters, load torque disturbances and unknown nonlinearities. The applicability of the proposed scheme is tested simulation.

Tn this paper. dual rotor disk configuration with a coreless stator is proposed for the Lorentz force type integrated motor hearing system. An experimental compensation for the effects of high order harmonics is performed using the digital controller of the experimental setup. The runout profile and rotor unbalance are also identified by the extended influence coefficient method. The experimental results confirm that this compensation scheme effectively attenuates the rotor vibration all over the operating range of rotational speed.

We describe a fast numerical method for non-separable elliptic equations in self-adjoin form on irregular adaptive domains. One of the most successful results in numerical PDE is developing rapid elliptic solvers for separable EPDEs, for example, Fourier transformation methods for Poisson problem on a square, however, it is known that there is no rapid elliptic solvers capable of solving a general nonseparable problems. It is the purpose of this paper to present an iterative solver for linear EPDEs in self-adjoint form. The scheme discussed in this paper solves a given non-separable equation using a sequence of solutions of Poisson equations, therefore, the most important key for such a method is having a good Poison solver. High performance is achieved by using a fast high-order adaptive Poisson solver which requires only about 500 floating point operations per gridpoint in order to obtain machine precision for both the computed solution and its partial derivatives. A few numerical examples have been presented.

It is well known that one can easily design a high-gain adaptive output feedback control for a class of nonlinear systems which satisfy a certain condition called output feedback exponential passivity (OFEP). The designed high-gain adaptive controller has simple structure and high robustness with regard to bounded disturbances and unknown order of the controlled system. However, from the viewpoint of practical application, it is important to consider a robust control scheme for controlled systems for which some of the assumptions of output feedback stabilization are not valid. In this paper, we design a robust high-gain adaptive output feedback control for the OFEP nonlinear systems with uncertain nonlinearities and/or disturbances. The effectiveness of the proposed method is shown by numerical simulations.
