Large glass furnaces to produce glass for CRT are housed in huge chambers. It is costly to maintain such a chamber in constant temperature, humidity, and(air) pressure. In this study, first, we show that the process of such a huge furnace, which requires the steady maintenance of high temperature, is badly affected by the ambient temperature of surrounding air. Second, an alternative process which not only maintains the relatively constant temperature dispersion around the furnace, but is also economical will be proposed. We calculate the necessary volume of air inflow in the appendix.
To know if small changes in rearing water temperature and density affect the number of bacterial and fungal colonies in metamorphosed frogs, Dybowski's frog tadpoles were reared from Gosner 25-26 stages at either low ($1^{\circ}C$ low to ambient water temperature), ambient, or high ($1^{\circ}C$ high) water temperature (each 15 tadpoles in 20 L water) condition and at either low (10 tadpoles/20 L water), medium (20 tadpoles), or high (30 tadpoles) density condition. Immediately after metamorphosis, we sampled bacteria and fungi from skin, liver, and heart of six metamorphosed frogs, randomly selected for each treatment group. After separate incubation of bacteria and fungi on 3M Petrifilm plates, we counted the number of bacterial and fungal colonies appeared on the plates and compared the numbers among the temperature and density treatment groups. For temperature treatment, high-temperature group had fewer bacterial colonies, while low-temperature group had more fungal colonies than the other two groups. For density treatment, low-density group had fewer bacterial colonies than the other two groups, but the number of fungal colonies were not different among the groups. Our results suggest that small increased rearing water temperature and lowered rearing density could potentially reduce pathogens in farming frogs.
The present study was conducted to evaluate the effect of chilled drinking water on the productivity of laying hens under constant high ambient temperature. A total of seventy-two, 123-day-old Hy-line brown layers was divided into two equal groups. The first group (UDWG) was given unchilled water ($23.0{\pm}2.5^{\circ}C$) as a control, and the second group (CDWG) was given chilled water ($16.0{\pm}0.5^{\circ}C$). The laying hens were kept at $30^{\circ}C$ constant temperature with 50% relative humidity and were exposed to 17 h of light per day. Feed intake, egg production, egg quality (egg weight, shell weight, shell thickness, egg color, yolk color, and Haugh unit), and blood samples were collected and analyzed. The results showed that the feed intake of CDWG laying hens was significantly higher (11.64%) than the UDWG counterparts (p<0.01). Egg production of CDWG was also significantly higher (11.27%) than the UDWG counterparts (p<0.001). Furthermore, we observed that the CDWG laying hens had significantly higher (11.72%) levels (p<0.10) of blood calcium, with a corresponding value of 21.92 mg/dl compared to the UDWG hens (19.62 mg/dl). The higher calcium concentration in the CDWG animals may contribute to increased egg production. The CDWG laying hens also contained higher (12.53%) phosphorus concentrations in blood compared to the UDWG (4.22 mg/dl vs. 3.75 mg/dl), although not statistically different (p>0.10). Egg weight and egg quality were not affected by chilled drinking water. In conclusion, providing chilled drinking for laying hens under high ambient temperature improved feed intake and egg production.

Effect of high temperature annealing conditions on Ta$_{2}O_{5}$ thin films was investigated. Ta$_{2}O_{5}$ thin films were deposited on P-type silicon substrates by plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) using tantalum ethylate. Ta(C$_{2}H_{5}O)_{5}$, and nitrous oxide. N$_{2}$O. The microstructure changed from amorphous to polycrystalline above 700.deg. C annealing temperature. The refractive index, dielectric onstant and leakage current of the film increased as annealing temperature increased. However, annealing in oxygen ambient reduced leakage currents and dielectric constant due to the formation of interfacial SiO$_{2}$ layer. By optimizing annealing temperature and ambient, leakage current lower than 10$^{-8}$ A/cm$^{2}$ and maximum capacitance of 9 fF/${\mu}m^{2}$ could be obtained.

The critical strain energy release rate and the failure mechanisms of glass-carbon epoxy resin hybrid composites are investigated in the temperature range of the ambient temperature to 8$0^{\circ}C$. The direction of laminates and the volume fraction are [(+45, -45, 0, 0) sub(2) ] sub(s), 50%, respectively. The major failure mechanisms of these composites are studied using the scanning electron microscope for the fracture surface. Results are summarized as follows: 1) The critical strain energy release rate shows a maximum at ambient temperature and it tends to decrease as temperature goes up. 2) The critical strain energy release rate increases as the content of glass increases, and especially shows dramatic increase for the high glass fiber content specimens. 3) Major failure mechanisms can be classfied such as localized shear yielding, fiber-matrix debonding, matrix micro-cracking, and fiber pull-out and/or delamination.

The present study is mainly motivated to investigate the vaporization, auto-ignition, and combustion of liquid fuel spray injected into high pressure environment. The unsteady, multi-dimensional models were used for realistic simulation of spray as well as prediction of accurate ignition delay time. The Separated Flow (SF) model which considers the finite rate of transport between liquid and gas phases was employed to represent the interactions between spray and gas field. Among the SF models, the Discrete Droplet Model (DDM) which simulates the spray using finite number of representative samples of discrete droplets was adopted. The Eulerian-Lagrangian formulation was used to analyze the two-phase interactions. In order to predict an evaporation rate of droplet in high pressure environment, the high pressure vaporization model was applied using thermodynamic equilibrium and phase equilibrium at droplet surface. The high pressure effect as well as high temperature effect was considered in the calculation of liquid and gas properties. In case of vaporization, an interaction between droplets was studied through the simulation of spray. The interaction is shown up differently whether the ambient gas field is at normal pressure or high pressure. Also, the characteristics of spray behavior in high pressure environment were investigated through the comparison with normal ambient pressure case. In both cases, the spray behaviors are simulated through the distributions of temperature and reaction rate in gas field.

The temperature of junction in LED affects the life time and performance. however, the measurement of junction temperature in module is very difficult. In this paper, to measure the junction temperature in LED module, optical and electrical properties is measured in single package in temperature from 25 [$^{\circ}C$] to 85 [$^{\circ}C$], and then junction temperature can is estimated in module with measuring the average voltage of single package. As results, the junction temperature of single package is measured the temperature of 61.2 [$^{\circ}C$] in ambient temperature, also, the junction temperature of LED module is measured the temperature of 72.5 [$^{\circ}C$] in ambient temperature.
The effects of ambient conditions on vaporizing sprays from a high-pressure swirl injector were investigated by an exciplex fluorescence method. Dopants used were 2% fluorobenzene and 9% DEMA (diethyl-methyl-amine) in 89% solution of hexane by volume. In order to examine the behavior of liquid and vapor phases inside of vaporizing sprays, ambient temperatures and pressures similar to engine atmospheres were set. It was found that the ambient pressure had a significant effect on the axial growth of spray, while ambient temperature had a great influence on the radial growth. The spatial distribution of vapor phase at temperatures above 473K became wider than that of liquid phase after half of injection duration. From the analysis of the area ratio for each phase, the middle part (region II) in the divided region was the region which liquid and vapor phases intersect. For liquid phase, fluorescence-intensity ratio was greatly changed at lms after the start of injection. However, the ratio of vapor phase was nearly uniform in each divided region throughout the injection.
Four Suffolk ewes were used in Latin Square switch over design to study the effects of varying levels and sources of protein on heat production and thermoregulatory responses at daytime high ($33^{\circ}C$ temperature. They were fed Italian ryegrass hay supplemented with fishmeal and/or urea, providing three different levels of crude protein (CP) (low/unsupplemented: 7.9, medium: 11.6, and high: 15.8%) at $1.5{\times}maintenance$. Feeds were distributed at 0900 (30%) and 1700 (70%). Urea diet caused higher heat production and increased vaginal temperature compared to fishmeal and fishmeal-urea mix diets. Time spent standing, skin temperature and respiration rate of sheep fed urea were similar with those of sheep fed fishmeal. Sheep fed diet with low CP level had higher heat production, increased vaginal and skin temperature than sheep fed diet with medium CP content. Sheep on high CP diet produced significantly more heat than sheep fed medium CP diets. Their vaginal temperatures were similar with those of sheep fed medium CP diet but lower than those of sheep fed low CP diet. Respiration rates of sheep and time spent by them for standing on all diets did not differ significantly. These results suggest that urea is inferior protein supplement for thermoregulation of animal at hot environment, as it induced higher heat production than fishmeal and fishmeal-urea mix. Thermoregulatory response on fishmeal-urea mix diet was similar to fishmeal diet. Increasing CP of the diet from low to medium gives advantage for thermoregulation of animal. Increasing CP further to high level was not beneficial as it resulted in the responses of sheep similar to those on low protein diet.
Geopolymer concrete (GPC), which is recognised as an environmentally friendly alternative to ordinary Portland cement (OPC) concrete, has been reported to possess high fire resistance. However, very limited research has been conducted to investigate the behaviour of geopolymer concrete-filled steel tubular (GCFST) columns at either ambient or elevated temperatures. This paper presents the compressive test results of a total of 15 circular concrete-filled steel tubular (CFST) stub columns, including 5 specimens tested at room temperature, 5 specimens tested at elevated temperatures and the remaining 5 specimens tested for residual strength after exposure to elevated temperatures. The main variables in the test program include: (a) concrete type; (b) concrete strength; and (c) curing condition of geopolymer concrete. The test results demonstrate that GCFST columns have similar ambient temperature behaviour compared with the conventional CFST counterparts. However, GCFST columns exhibit better fire resistance than the conventional CFST columns. Meanwhile, it is found that the GCFST column made with heat cured GPC has lower strength loss than other columns after exposure to elevated temperatures. The research results highlight the possibility of using geopolymer concrete to improve the fire resistance of CFST columns.
