In recent years, researches about hydrophobic and hydrophilic surfaces have been executed however their other effects have not been researched enough. In this paper, the fabrication method of hierarchical structures of micro line array combined with fluorinated wax for anisotropic superomniphobic wettability is presented. We have achieved anisotropic and superomniphobic surface via simple two step methods, which are maskless photolithography and wax deposition. In order to prove how to provide those characteristics, SEM, contact angle measurement tool and X-ray diffraction are used. Fluorinated wax is crystalized self-assembly and it is subordinated on micro line array so that it is able to display anisotropic wettability. Understanding on anisotropic superomniphobic surface and simple fabrication method has been attracted to apply for lots of applications which range from self-cleaning surface, microfluidic chip, to directionally fluid control device, even in oily fluid.
In this study, we fabricated hierarchically self-assembled thin films composed of graphene oxide (GO) sheets and gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) using the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) and Langmuir-Schaefer (LS) techniques and investigated their gas-sensing performance. First, a thermally oxidized silicon wafer ($Si/SiO_2$) was hydrophobized by depositing the LB films of cadmium arachidate. Thin films of ligand-capped Au NPs and GO sheets of the appropriate size were then sequentially transferred onto the hydrophobic silicon wafer using the LB and the LS techniques, respectively. Several different films were prepared by varying the ligand type, film composition, and surface pressure of the spread monolayer at the air/water interface. Their structures were observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM), and their gas-sensing performance for $NH_3$ and $CO_2$ was assessed. The thin films of dodecanethiol-capped Au NPs and medium-sized GO sheets had a better hierarchical structure with higher uniformity and exhibited better gas-sensing performance.
Recently, layer-by-layer (LbL) assembly has emerged as a promising fabrication technique in controlling surface wetting properties. LbL assembly technique is eco-friendly versatile technique to control the hierarchical structure and surface properties in nano- and micro-scale by employing a variety of materials (e.g., polymers, surfactants, nanoparticles, etc.). This article reviews recent progress in controlling the surface wetting using LbL technique. In particular, technical trends and research findings on fabrication and the applications of superhydrophobic, superhydrophilc, and superoleophobic/superhydrophilic LbL surfaces are extensively explained. Additionally, basic principles and fabrication methods in emerging areas such as omniphobic, self-healing, intelligent and responsive LbL surfaces are discussed.
Recently, many researches have shown that even photosynthetic light-harvesting pigment-protein complexes can have quantum coherence in their excitonic energy transfer at cryogenic and physiological temperatures. Because the protein supplies such noisy environment around pigments that conventional wisdom expects very short lived quantum coherence, elucidating the mechanism and searching for an applicability of the coherence have become an interesting topic in both experiment and theory. We have previously studied the quantum coherence of a phycocyanin 645 complex in a marine algae harvesting light system, using Poisson mapping bracket equation (PBME). PBME is one of the applicable methods for solving quantum-classical Liouville equation, for following the dynamics of such pigment-protein complexes. However, it may suffer from many defects mostly from mapping quantum degrees of freedom into classical ones. To make improvements against such defects, benchmarking targets with more accurately described dynamics is highly needed. Here, we fall back to reduced hierarchical equation of motion (HEOM), for such a purpose. Even though HEOM is known to applicable only to simplified system that is coupled to a set of harmonic oscillators, it can provide ultimate accuracy within the regime of quantum-classical description, thus providing perfect benchmark targets for certain systems. We compare the evolution of the density matrix of pigment excited states by HEOM against the PBME results at physiological temperature, and observe more sophisticated changes of density matrix elements from HEOM. In PBME, the population of states with intermediate energies display only monotonically increasing behaviors. Most importantly, PBME suffers a serious issue of wrong population in the long time limit, likely generated by the zero-point energy leaking problem. Future prospects for developments are briefly discussed as a concluding remark.

Monodispersed $ZnGa_2O_4$ microspheres were synthesized by a facile two-step process consisting of a solvothermal method and calcination process. The prepared monodispersed $ZnGa_2O_4$ microspheres were aggregated into 3D microstructures by self-assembly with a large number of small $ZnGa_2O_4$ particles generated in nucleation. This nucleation and self-assembly making hierarchical microstructures were depended on the concentration of PEG (polyethylene glycol) due to CAC (critical aggregation concentration) theory. And also we controlled the amount of zinc acetate to make pure $ZnGa_2O_4$ phase. Additionally, to fix the optimized calcination condition, sample was characterized by TG-DTA to prove the thermal property in the calcination process and by FT-IR to identify the changes of functional group bonding between each element of the $ZnGa_2O_4$ precursor and oxide calcined at $900^{\circ}C$ for 1 h.

Polymer architectures containing metal-ligands in their side chain represent a diverse approach to generating multi-functional materials. The ability to define a versatile synthetic platform will enable many chemistries and architectures to be studied. This report describes our latest efforts to prepare these unique polymers; random and block copolymers have been successfully prepared. Subsequent functionalization with metal ions leads to a variety of properties including metal induced gelation, solvochromic and metal ion sensors, and unique hierarchical self-assembled structures.

This study describes a method where the match of two different length scales, i.e., the patterns from self-assembled block copolymer (<50 nm) and electron beam writing (>50 nm), allow the nanometer scale pattern mask. The method is based on using block copolymers containing a poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) block, which is subject to be decomposed under an electron beam, as a pattern resist for electron beam lithography. Electron beam on self assembled block copolymer thin film selectively etches PMMA microdomains, giving rise to a polymeric nano-pattern mask on which subsequent evaporation of chromium produces the arrays of Cr nanoparticles followed by lifting off the mask. Furthermore, electron beam lithography was performed on the micropatterned block copolymer film fabricated by micro-imprinting, leading to a hierarchical self assembled pattern where a broad range of length scales was effectively assembled, ranging from several tens of nanometers, through submicrons, to a few microns.

The manufacturing system has been changed from labored manual process system, which is managed and operated by managers and operators, to CIMS(Computer Integrated Manufacturing System) for integration of manufacturing, research, development and consumption in the age of diverse customer's needs[6]. However, because it involves the hierarchical system composed of many sub-systems interface and its installation & setup cost is very expensive, CIMS has many difficulties in constructing the durable optimal system that is able to adapt to rapid in-outer circumstance change. So, HMS(Holonic Manufacturing System), the new conceptual manufacturing system having the self-problem-solving and self-organization[11], is instructed to solve these difficulties that it has in these days. The system flexibility in the HMS is able to be ensured, with the integration of human's strong points into mechatronics manufacturing system to reduce interference among sub-systems. In this paper, the manufacturing process rationalization and integration of the assembly line in an automobile industry, has lots of problems in efficiency and productivity, has been studied in an early stage of converting the present state of process system to HMS, which is human-oriented processing system, to improve the line efficiency, system productivity and reliability by using human capability effectively. This paper is derived into the human-oriented & object-oriented holons settlement of the shop floor system composed of processing, assembly and material handling system for the future holonic manufacturing system, which is going to be computer supported control system.
This study aims to develop a rich understanding of user goals in user-empowering information technologies which have been dominating part in the information systems environment. A particular focus is on users' goals in a social network site (SNS) which is a typical example of user-empowering technologies. Users conduct various activities in order to achieve diverse goals in SNS. Thus, investigating what goals users pursue in SNS will give insights into understanding the users. We employed the laddering interview technique and means-end chain approach. Interviews of 50 Facebook users were analyzed to produce a hierarchical goal map showing users' goal structure. The map contains 18 goals, including self-reflection, psychological stability, belongingness, improving productivity, and amusement as ultimate goals in SNS. In the map, there are varied routes from activities to ultimate goals in SNS; that is, a complex assembly consisting of activities and goals. The findings call the information systems research community to have more interests in diverse goals and values users seek with technologies.
