A wavelet finite element-based adaptive-scale damage detection strategy

  • This study employs a novel beam-type wavelet finite element model (WFEM) to fulfill an adaptive-scale damage detection strategy in which structural modeling scales are not only spatially varying but also dynamically changed according to actual needs. Dynamical equations of beam structures are derived in the context of WFEM by using the second-generation cubic Hermite multiwavelets as interpolation functions. Based on the concept of modal strain energy, damage in beam structures can be detected in a progressive manner: the suspected region is first identified using a low-scale structural model and the more accurate location and severity of the damage can be estimated using a multi-scale model with local refinement in the suspected region. Although this strategy can be implemented using traditional finite element methods, the multi-scale and localization properties of the WFEM considerably facilitate the adaptive change of modeling scales in a multi-stage process. The numerical examples in this study clearly demonstrate that the proposed damage detection strategy can progressively and efficiently locate and quantify damage with minimal computation effort and a limited number of sensors.

  • 인간시각체계에서 단순세포의 수용영역에 대한 수학적인 모델 연구가 정신물리학, 생리학, 신경과학 측면에서 발전되어 왔다. 여러 분야에서 사용되는 모델은 Gabor 복소함수, Gaussian 미분, Hermite 함수를 포함하며, 영상처리와 컴퓨터 시각 분야에 많이 응용되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 불확실성원리에 기초하여 고려된 함수들의 결합유효폭을 계산하고, 인간시각필터와 일치되는 중심주파수와 각 함수의 변수들을 결정하고, 결과적인 대역폭을 분석한다. 더욱이 함수들의 위치와 주파수 영역의 특성을 파악하여 정신물리학적으로 획득한 실험적인 데이터와의 관련성을 검토한다.

  • We give a function associated with generalized Ostrowski type inequality and its integral representation for local fractional calculus. Then, using this function and its integral representation, we establish several inequalities of generalized Ostrowski type for twice local fractional differentiable functions. We also consider some special cases of the main results which are further applied to a concrete function to yield two interesting inequalities associated with two generalized means.

  • In the present study, a numerical formulation procedure fer free vibration analysis of thin-walled horizontally curved multi-girder bridges is presented. The presented finite element procedure consists of curved and straight beam elements including warping degree of freedom. The homogeneous solutions of curved beam equations were used for shape functions in numerical formulation to achieve good convergence. In the straight beam element, the third order hermite polynomials were used fer shape functions. The Gupta method was used to solve the eigenvalue problem efficiently. The developed numerical procedure was applied to investigate the characteristics of free vibration of horizontally curved multi-girder bridges with varing subtended angle.

  • In this note, an alternative proof and extensions are provided for the following conclusions in [6, Theorem 1 and Theorem 3]: The functions $\frac1{x^2}-\frac{e^{-x}}{(1-e^{-x})^2}\;and\;\frac1{t}-\frac1{e^t-1}$ are decreasing in (0, ${\infty}$) and the function $\frac{t}{e^{at}-e^{(a-1)t}}$ for a $a{\in}\mathbb{R}\;and\;t\;{\in}\;(0,\;{\infty})$ is logarithmically concave.

새로운 결합유효폭 측정법 (A New Metric for Joint Effective Width Computation)

  • 위치와 주파수 불확실성 곱이 작은 해석함수는 영상처리와 압축에 많은 장점이 있다. 지금까지의 불확실성원리에 기초하여 이 값을 계산하였으나, 이러한 측정은 최대 응답주파수가 0 이 아닌 인간시각필터에서 적절한 주파수 불확실성의 측정방법이 될 수 없다. 최대 응답을 갖는 주파수에 대한 주파수 불확실성을 계산하는 새로운 측정방법을 이용하여 결합유효폭을 유도하고자 한다. 결합변수가 커지면 많은 함수들의 결합유효폭이 0.5로 수렴하는 해석 결과를 얻었으며, 고려 대상 중에서 Gabor cosine 함수가 우수한 성능을 보였다.

  • 본 연구에서는 복합재료로 구성된 구조물로서 박스거더와 같이 임의의 각도로 연결된 절판을 유한대판법으로 해석하였다. 각 적층판의 강성으로부터 적분에 의하여 판두께 방향의 전체 강성을 구하고 최소 포텐샬 에너지 이론으로부터 구한 평형방정식에 대입하여 전체 강성매트릭스를 구하였다. 슬래브나 박스거더의 변위 함수는 횡 방향의 Hermite 다항식과 종 방향의 조화함수의 결합으로 가정하였다. 종 방향 조화함수는 단부의 경계조건을 만족시키는 함수를 사용하였다. 해석시간의 단축 및 모델링이 쉽다는 장점을 가진 유한대판법은 복합적층 재료로 구성된 박스거더와 같은 절판해석의 경우에도 매우 정확한 해를 얻을 수 있다.

  • The main objective of this paper is to establish certain unified integral formula involving the product of the generalized Mittag-Leffler type function $E^{({\gamma}_j),(l_j)}_{({\rho}_j),{\lambda}}[z_1,{\ldots},z_r]$ and the Srivastava's polynomials $S^m_n[x]$. We also show how the main result here is general by demonstrating some interesting special cases.

  • In this paper, we introduce a generating function for a Legendre-based poly-Bernoulli polynomials and give some identities of these polynomials related to the Stirling numbers of the second kind. By making use of the generating function method and some functional equations mentioned in the paper, we conduct a further investigation in order to obtain some implicit summation formulae for the Legendre-based poly-Bernoulli numbers and polynomials.

Adaptive-scale damage detection strategy for plate structures based on wavelet finite element model

  • An adaptive-scale damage detection strategy based on a wavelet finite element model (WFEM) for thin plate structures is established in this study. Equations of motion and corresponding lifting schemes for thin plate structures are derived with the tensor products of cubic Hermite multi-wavelets as the elemental interpolation functions. Sub-element damages are localized by using of the change ratio of modal strain energy. Subsequently, such damages are adaptively quantified by a damage quantification equation deduced from differential equations of plate structure motion. WFEM scales vary spatially and change dynamically according to actual needs. Numerical examples clearly demonstrate that the proposed strategy can progressively locate and quantify plate damages. The strategy can operate efficiently in terms of the degrees-of-freedom in WFEM and sensors in the vibration test.
