  • In this study, alginic acid that had an high affinity for a heavy metal and was noted for biological adsorbent was modified by an oxidizer, $KMnO_4$. Chemical modification changed hydroxyl of the alginic acid into carboxyl and compare with alginic acid, modified alginic acid exhibited a characteristics that carboxyl groups are comparatively high. For the use of them as an adsorbent, beads were prepared by dropping alginic acid and modified alginic acid solution in dilute 2 wt% $CaCl_2$ solution for non water soluble. The amount of removed $Cu^{2+}$ and $Pb^{2+}$ by modified alginic acid beads showed 84.7 mg and 90.9 mg per gram of beads, respectively. And it showed the amount of adsorbed heavy metal ions 10~20% higher than that of alginic acid beads in range of pH 4~7. In particular, modified alginic acid have a good adsorption capacity for $Cu^{2+}$ and $Pb^{2+}$ by Freundlich adsorption isotherm. According to this study, it is verified that alginic acid that is a nature high molecular substance improved capacity for actual application by increased heavy metal adsorption capacity by chemical modification.

  • This paper aims at making a dedicated vibration monitoring and diagnosis framework for 3MW WTG(wind turbine generator). Within the scope of the research, vibration data of WTG drive train are used and WTG operating conditions are involved for dividing the vibration data class which included transient and steady state vibration signals. We separate two health detections which are CHD(continuous health detection) and EHD(event health detection). CHD has function of early detection and continuous monitoring. EHD makes the use of finding vibration values of fault components effectively by spectrum matrix subsystem. We proposed framework and showed application for 3MW WTG in a practical point of view.

  • The purposes of this study were to examine: (1) the extent to which school-age children used computer games; (2) whether there were differences between children who played computer games to a greater extent and children who played computer games to a normal extent in their levels of depression, anxiety, self-esteem, and social anxiety; and (3) whether children's social withdrawal, aggression, and mothers' psychological control explained the extent of children's computer game playing. The subject were 270 children in the 6th grade. It was found that $55.6\%$ of the children were normal users, $39.3\%$ of the children were somewhat heavy users, and $5.2\%$ of the children were heavy users of computer games. There was a gender difference in the proportions of heavy computer game playing. That is, there were more heavy users among boys than among girls. It was also found that social withdrawal, aggression, and mothers' psychological control were significant predictors of the extent of children's computer game playing. That is, the levels of children's social withdrawal, aggression, and their perceptions of mothers' psychological control predicted the degree to which children played computer games.

  • Several heavy duty coatings at an every kind industry facilities to various systems currently have been applied review to the many industry fields. Corrosion-protective characteristics in the case of novolac epoxy among them and unsaturated polyester have been applied most widely. epoxy and flake heavy duty coatings are applied for such reason in an every kind facilities(stack, FGD, cooler, chemical tank etc) of a fossil-fuel power plants Cases of the fossil-fuel power plants are exposed to more severe corrosion environment compared with other facilities and It is difficult to display the performance of long-term method at apply to be the partial. Our study shows fluoro-polymer composite coating method to overcome of the limit. The comparison did previous method and heavy duty coating about FGD plants most at a corrosion environment among fossil-fuel power plants. Additionally, other facilities examined different heavy duty method. The design mode of fluoro-polymer composite coating according to an every kind facilities show extensive methods that are characteristic revelation of film(top, middle and primer layer) composition of the paint, film thickness in accordance with a facilities corrosion and the corrosion protective effectiveness to come into being use fluoro-polymer composite with heavy duty paint(epoxy).

  • The purpose of this study is to develop special tools used to extend the tool life for the boom of heavy equipment. The boom of heavy equipment is manufactured by cutting the inner and outer surface with respect to the assembly site essential. In particular, when cutting the inner surface, entry of the tool is difficult owing to the limited size of the inner diameter and non circular cutting. In addition, the productivity is poor because the use of the cutting tool made of the SKH material. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a special tool for machining heavy equipment boom to extend tool life and to improve productivity. The special tool developed this study has the form of a holder and tip. The tip was created by applying a commercially available tungsten carbide insert.

  • In temperate monsoon regions, extensive shallow landslides triggered by heavy rainfall are recurrent phenomena in mountainous areas. 1,357 landslides over Jinbu area, Korea that totaled 127 km2 were identified from aerial photographs and field survey. We examined characteristics of rainfall-induced shallow landslides and casual factors affecting landslide distribution with respect to topographic and forest settings, and land use. Most landslides occurred in the study area were the results of a complex combination of precondition, preparatory factors and triggering factors. Cumulative rainfall and high intensity rainfall during short period of time made the study area very sensitive to landslides and played as catalysts to enable other factors including topographic and forest settings, and land use to act more effectively. In addition, some landslides at lower elevation involved channel incision or bank erosion influenced by land use changes such as deforestation and intensification of agriculture surrounding riparian forests or hillslopes. The results suggest that most of landslide were triggered by heavy rainstorms while topographic, forest settings, and land use affected landslide distribution occurred in the study area.

  • The velocity control of hydraulic servo system with heavy load and large capacity was investigated through the linear analysis and digital computer simulation. Each part of the nonlinear hydraulic servo system was mathmatically modelled. The result of linear analysis and computer simulation showed that the use of derivative of load pressure as a feedback signal is effective in velocity control.

  • The linear absolute shrinkage and selection operator(Lasso) method improves the low prediction accuracy and poor interpretation of the ordinary least squares(OLS) estimate through the use of $L_1$ regularization on the regression coefficients. However, the Lasso is not robust to outliers, because the Lasso method minimizes the sum of squared residual errors. Even though the least absolute deviation(LAD) estimator is an alternative to the OLS estimate, it is sensitive to leverage points. We propose a robust Lasso estimator that is not sensitive to outliers, heavy-tailed errors or leverage points.

  • An experimental investigation was carried out to evaluate the mechanical properties of concrete mixtures in which coarse aggregate was partially (30, 50 or 70 %) replaced with pre-washed municipal solid waste incineration (MSWI) bottom ash. Results indicated that bottom ash reduced the compressive strength, elastic modulus, and levels of heavy metals in leachate when used as a replacement for gravel, and that the maximum amount of MSWI bottom ash in concrete should not exceed 50 %. To analyze the effect mechanism of bottom ash in concrete, the degree of hydration and the following pozzolanic reaction characterized by the pozzolanic activity index, and the porosity distribution in cement mortar. The study indicates that improved properties of concrete are not solely later strength gain and reduced levels of heavy metals in leachate but also the progression of pozzolanic reactions, where a dense structure contains a higher proportion of fine pores that are related to durability.

  • Today they use a weather radar with spatially high resolution in predicting rainfall intensity and utilizing the information for super short-range forecast in order to make predictions of such severe meteorological phenomena as heavy rainfall and snow. For a weather radar, they use the Z-R relation between the reflectivity factor(Z) and rainfall intensity(R) by rainfall particles in the atmosphere in order to estimate intensity. Most used among the various Z-R relation is $Z=200R^{1.6}$ applied to stratiform rain. It's also used to estimate basic rainfall intensity of a weather radar run by the weather center. This study set out to compare rainfall intensity between the reflectivity of a weather radar and the ground rainfall of ASOS(Automatic Surface Observation System) by analyzing many different cases of heavy rain, analyze the errors of different weather radars and identify their problems, and investigate their applicability to nowcasting in case of severe weather.
