  • In order to eliminate the hydration heat of mass concrete, this paper reports the results of hydration heat control in mass concrete using the OCHP (Oscillating capillary tube heat pipe). In the summarized results of the mock up experiments, distributing the heat pipe at 300 mm intervals based on the center of the test specimen was the most effective. A 200 mm turn interval for the heat pipe was measured to be the most appropriate, taking into account the reinforcement placing at the actual site. Therefore, when the hydration heat control method using the heat pipe developed in this study is applied, not only canconstruction efficiency & a reduction in the necessary construction time be expected, but so can outstanding economical effects.

  • In this study, a model of a flat plate solar collector using a heat pipe was manufactured and tested to investigate such operational characteristics of the present system of solar collector as start-up process, temperature distribution on the absorber plate and operation of the heat pipe. Moreover, collector efficiency was measured for 20-30 minutes of operation at various conditions of weather and the result was compared with that tested by Hill et. a. for a flat plate solar collector using direct circulation of coolant. Some results obtained in this study could be summarized as follows. (1) The required time for the initial start-up process was about 5-6 minutes, but the heat pipe began to operate as soon as the absorber plate was exposed to solar radiation. (2) On the absorber plate, the temperature distributions in axial direction maintained nearly constant, while temperature distributions in transversal direction showed smooth decrease with $3-5^{\cird}C$ along with solar radiation. (3) Thermal inertia of the collector system had a favorable effect to damp the turbulent variation of solar radiation. (4) The collector efficiency of the present system showed nearly the same tendency but a decrease of about 10% compared with that using direct circulation of coolant.

  • Changes in functional constituents of rice germ prepared using three different heat pretreatments: roasting, steaming and microwave heating, were determined and compared with those of non-treated rice germ. The yield of rice germ oil increased generally and then decreased with increasing time for all three heat pretreatments, although the yields of rice germ oil varied among the three heat pretreatments. There were no major differences in fatty acid compositions among the rice germ oils subjected to the three different heat pretreatments. Levels of $\alpha$-tocopherol in rice germ oil increased up to about 1.5 times at 3 min of roasting and microwave heating, compared to control, and then decreased with increasing treatment time, but $\alpha$tocopherol concentrations in rice germ oil gradually decreased with increasing steaming time. The contents of three phytosterols ($\beta$-sitosterol, stigmasterol and ergosterol) decreased progressively with increases in roasting and steaming time, while concentrations of the three phytosterols increased up to - 15$\%$ with 3 min of microwave process as compared to control, and then decreased thereafter. Levels of $\gamma$-oryzanol in rice germ oil decreased gradually with increasing time during all three different heat pretreatments. However, levels of $\gamma$ -aminobutyric acid (GABA) in rice germ decreased gradually with increasing roasting time, while those of GABA increased greatly up to about 2 times after 10 min of steaming process, and then decreased slowly thereafter. During microwave heating, the contents of GABA increased at 3 min of treatment time and then decreased. These results suggest that microwave heating may be the most suitable processing method to preserve functional constituents in rice germ.

  • As $CO_2$ emission with imprudent using fossil fuel, annual mean temperature of earth is increased in every year. Geothermal energy is inexhaustible energy resource to solve this problem. Heat pump performance and heat exchange efficiency of ground loop are important to distribute widely. Thus, this study are performed to increase heat pump performance and heat exchange efficiency of ground loop with dual expansion valves and spacer. As a results, COP of cooling & heating is obtained improvement up to 11.4% using dual expansion valves, and heat exchange efficiency is increased up to 17.5% using spacer. It will be reduced initial installation cost due to increasing heat pump performance and heat exchange efficiency of ground loop.

  • In this work, nucleate pool boiling heat transfer coefficients(HTCs) of 5 refrigerants of different vapor pressure are measured on horizontal Thermoexcel-E square surface of 9.53 mm length. Tested refrigerants are R32, R22, R134a, R152a and R245fa. HTCs are taken from 10 $kW/m^2$ to critical heat fluxes for all refrigerant at $7^{\circ}C$. Wall and fluid temperatures are measured directly by thermocouples located underneath the test surface and in the liquid pool. Test results show that critical heat fluxes(CHFs) of Thermoexcel-E enhanced surface are greatly improved as compared to that of a plain surface in all tested refrigerants. CHFs of all refrigerants on the Thermoexcel-E surface are increased up to 100% as compared to that of the plain surface. The improvement of Thermoexcel-E surface in CHF, however, is lower than that of the low fin surface. HTCs on Thermoexcel-E surface increase with heat flux. But after certain heat flux, HTCs began to decrease due to the difficulty in bubble removal caused by the inherent complex nature of this surface. Therefore, at heat fluxes close to the critical one, sudden decrease in HTCs needs to be considered in thermal design with Thermoexcel-E surface.

  • This paper presents the heat recovery performance of water fluidized-bed heat exchanger. Temperature and humidity ratio of waste gas are considered as important parameters in this study. Therefore, the heat recovery rate through water fluidized-bed heat exchanger for exhaust gases with various temperatures and humidity ratios can be estimated from the results of this study. Mass flow ratio (the ratio of mass flow rate of water to that of gas) and temperature of inlet water are also considered as important operating variables. Increase of heat recovery rate can be obtained through either high mass flow ratio or low temperature of inlet water with resultant low recovered temperature. The heat recovery performance with the mass flow ratio of about up to 10 has been investigated. The effect of number of stages of water fluidized-bed on the heat recovery performance has been also examined in this study.

  • An optimal control in heat-up operation was formulated for minimizing the quadratic performance criterion which is a function of temperature, temperature gradient in the wall and fuel flow rate. For optimal control law computations mathematical model was simplified with assumptions and then linearized by use of orthogonal collocation in radial direction. Effects of weighting function assigned to temperature and temperature gradient and final time were compared with industrial data.

  • In order to verify the integrity of the first wall (FW) of the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER), the fabricated Cu/SS mock-up is tested in the JAEA Electron Beam Irradiation Test Stand (JEBIS). To fabricate the Cu/SS mock-up, CuCrZr and 316L authentic stainless steel (SS316L) are used for Cu alloy and steel, respectively The hot isostatic pressing (HIP) is used as a manufacturing method with a $1050^{\circ}C$ and 150 MPa. The high heat flux (HHF) test is performed using an electron beam with a heat flux of $5MW/m^2$ and a cycle of 15-sec on time and 30-sec off time. The temperature measurement in the HHF test shows good agreement with the results obtained from ANSYS code analysis, which is used for determining the HHF test conditions.

  • In this paper, In this paper, we use two methods to compare the slim speakers. That way, the diaphragm scan using laser and diaphragm photographed using a thermal imaging camera. Slim speaker has the structure of a flat plate type. Break-up mode by this characteristic is displayed in a larger size. Further, since the installation space is narrow, it has limited moving coil cooling. As a result, the break-up mode slim speakers, a significant impact on quality. In this study, try to connect the break-up mode of the diaphragm, the heat transfer mode of the diaphragm. Experiment for comparison, a two-step. The first step is to measure the divided vibration through the vibration plate scan. The second step measures the diaphragm photographed using a thermal imaging camera. Then, compare the results of both of the same frequency. Thus, comparing the heat transfer pattern and the pattern of break-up mode. Tend to be analysis of break-up mode from the pattern comparison, and document for the optimum design.

  • In this paper, we derive various differential Harnack estimates for positive solutions to the nonlinear backward heat type equations on closed manifolds coupled with the Ricci-Bourguignon flow, which was done for the Ricci flow by J.-Y. Wu [30]. The proof follows exactly the one given by X.-D. Cao [4] for the linear backward heat type equations coupled with the Ricci flow.
