  • This work proposes a simple control method of a buck-type active power decoupling circuit that can minimize the ripple values in the dc link voltage. The proposed method utilizes a simplified duty calculation method and an optimal compensation gain tracking algorithm with variable-step approach. Thus, the dc link voltage ripple can be effectively reduced through the proposed method along with rapid response in tracking the optimum compensation gain. Moreover, the proposed method has better dynamic responses in the load fluctuation or abnormal situation. MATLAB/Simulink simulation and hardware-in-the-loop-simulation(HILS)-based experimental results are presented to validate the effectiveness of the proposed control method.

  • The bimodal tram with a pivoting joint has difficulty in making a sharp turn because of their long body and wheel base. Therefore, applying AWS(all wheel steering) to the bimodal tram is effective to reduce the turning radius. In the present study, HILS(hardware in the loop simulation) system for the AWS ECU test was developed, which consists of the components used in real vehicles. The data obtained from the HILS system also satisfied the dynamics simulation without any error on the operation control.

  • The creation of automotive systems of active safety with intelligent functions needs the use of new control principles for the wheel and automobile. One of such directions is the pre-extreme control strategy. Its aim is the ensuring of wheel's work in pre-extreme, stable area of tire grip wheel slip dependence. The simplest realization of pre-extreme control in automotive anti-lock brake systems consists in the threshold and gradient algorithms. A comparative analysis of these algorithms, which has been made on 'hardware in-the-loop' simulation results of the braking for bus with various anti-lock brake systems (ABS), indicated their high efficiency.

  • Realtime Simulation and HILS are essential tools for modern aircraft control system design and development. But developing the HILS has been a big and complex task to meet the realtime simulation requirement. So these days there have been efforts to minimize these task. New advanced concept and design tools are being developed. In this paper, these new advanced concept and design tools were used to develop the realtime simulation and HILS environment for rotorcraft. The H/W 문 S/W requirement and system configuration for the developing system will be described on the paper.

  • This paper is concerned with the dynamic modeling for the hardware-in-the-loop simulation of lateral vibrations of a railway vehicle. The resulting dynamic model is a nine degree-of-freedom model which can describe the lateral, roll and yaw motions of the car body and two bogies. It is assumed that the external disturbances come from wheel motions. In order to test the efficacy of the model, the linear quadratic regulator and the sky-hook control algorithm were designed and applied to the model. The simulation results show that both control algorithms are effective in suppressing the vibrations of railway vehicles.

  • High penetration of renewable energy generators causes unnecessary investment for power system facilities. Especially with Korean government policies such as Renewable Energy 3020 and Inter-connection support Responsibility of KEPCO for 1 MW DERs, the applications of DER interconnection in distribution system have been increasing. To save the investment, smart control functions for DERs are required and the test bed for the inverters which have not been prepared are necessary to insure DER inter-connection stability. For this, test bed for advanced functions of a smart inverter has been constructed and the tests for necessary functions have been implemented. In this paper, the test bed and environment as well as specifications are introduced and the test results for the validation of the functions are analyzed.

  • A hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) platform for a power management control of islanded DC microgrids is established. In order to avoid the complexity and high costs, a decentralized control based on the DC Bus Signaling (DBS) method is applied to the HIL system. The simulation results for the HIL microgrid platform have verified the effectiveness of power management strategy.

  • During launch a spacecraft is subjected to a variety of dynamical loads transmitted through the launcher to spacecraft interface or air-born transmission excitations in the acoustic pressure field inside the fairing. As a result, spacecraft are tested on ground to ensure and demonstrate the global integrity of the structure against these loads, to screen the flight hardware for quality of workmanship and to validate mathematical models. This paper addresses the numerical modelling and simulation of the low frequency sine and random vibration tests performed on electrodynamic shaker facilities to comprise the mechanical-borne transmission loads through the launcher to spacecraft interface. Consequently, the paper reviews techniques and methodologies to derive a reliable and representative coupled virtual vibration testing simulation environment based on experimental data. These technologies are explored with the main objectives to ensure a stable, reliable and accurate control while testing. As a result, the use of the derived simulation models in combination with the added value of improved control and signal processing algorithms can lead to a safer and smoother vibration test control of the entire environmental test campaign.

  • HILS system consists of hardwares which are engine and dynamometer and softwares which is vehicle model without the engine. It is well-known that because of engines's nonlinearity it is difficult to describe an engine exactly and not to lose it reality coincidently. But HILS system is the high technology that can compensate this weakness by using a real engine instead of model. The various experiments regarding the ACC which are not normally available for real vehicle tests have been performed by the HILS system. From the results , the HILS system is expected to decrease the experimental accident rate and save costs and time. Compared with simulation, HILS experimental results show similarities and expected to increase road capacity.
