Core-A: A 32-bit Synthesizable Processor Core

  • Core-A is 32-bit synthesizable processor core with a unique instruction set architecture (ISA). In this paper, the Core-A ISA is introduced with discussion of useful features and the development environment, including the software tool chain and hardware on-chip debugger. Core-A is described using Verilog-HDL and can be customized for a given application and synthesized for an application-specific integrated circuit or field-programmable gate array target. Also, the GNU Compiler Collection has been ported to support Core-A, and various predesigned platforms are well equipped with the established design flow to speed up the hardware/software co-design for a Core-A-based system.

  • In order to reuse a register transfer level (RTL)-based IP block, it takes another architectural exploration in which the RTL will be put, and it also takes virtual platforms to develop the driver and applications software. Due to the increasing demands of new technology, the hardware and software complexity of organizing embedded systems is growing rapidly. Accordingly, the traditional design methodology cannot stand up forever to designing complex devices. In this paper, I introduce an electronic system level (ESL)-based approach to designing complex hardware with a derivative of SystemVerilog. I adopted the concept of reuse with higher levels of abstraction of the ESL language than traditional HDLs to design multiplication server farms. Using the concept of ESL, I successfully implemented server farms as well as a test bench in one simulation environment. It would have cost a number of Verilog/C simulations if I had followed the traditional way, which would have required much more time and effort.

  • The engagement control software embedded in the weapon control computer of the fire control center for air defense missile system is large-scale real-time software. The use of typical software development methodologies is not appropriate to develop such large-scale embedded software in terms of reusability, reliability, and productivity for the reason that it is significantly complicated, and highly dependent on hardware platforms and developers. In this paper, a model-based software architecture using components based on UML 2.0 for the engagement control software is presented in order to solve these problems. This software architecture is verified using the black-box test, the scenario-based test, and the Ethernet packet monitoring test methods. The results demonstrate that the developed software architecture can be employed to enhance reusability, maintainability, and productivity of large-scale embedded software.

  • This paper presents a System-On-a-chip (SoC) for embedded image processing and pattern recognition applications that need Gaussian Pyramid structure. The system is fully implemented into Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) based on the prototyping platform. The SoC consists of embedded processor core and a hardware accelerator for Gaussian Pyramid construction. The performance of the implementation is benchmarked against software implementations on different platforms.

  • This paper, proposes concept of personal robot middleware core also called streaming layer. Based on openness and portability, the streaming layer is proposed in order to meet requirements of different kinds of applications. The streaming layer architecture provides effective management of data flows and allows integration of different systems with ease regardless software of hardware platform. With extensibility support additional features can be build in without affect to performance. Therefore, heterogeneous network support, real-time communications, embedded boards support can be easily achieved. In order to achieve high performance together with portability into different platforms, the most functions has to be implemented in C language, while critical parts, such as scheduling, priority assignment has to be made using native functions of tested platforms.

  • A continuous development of new hardware and operating systems brings the importance of portable programming, which can be imported into multi-platform environment. Also, the recent development of computer communication technology brings us many choices of accessing into the other platforms, which also becomes a burden for the programmers who should consider developing software fitting into diverse platforms The present GNU system tools creates a part of the source code automatically, and suggests a direction towards a new platform. but the source code must be prepared by the programmer at the source level. In this paper, we describe design and implementation of on interactive tool for developing multi-platform software, The tool is designed to help a programmer to build a portable program for multi-platform, even though the programmer does not know very well about various UNIX platforms, And, the tool uses existing GNU system tools, such as autoconf, autoheader, automake and etc, and is able to insert a portable code into a right position by interacting with a programmer.

  • The study was conducted on the awareness and application of internet of things in universities libraries in Kwara State, Nigeria. the study formulated used four research questions and used eighty five (85) samples as the population using total enumerative sampling techniques. A survey method was used in undertaking the study, in which answers were sought on the level of awareness of the internet of things in universities libraries in Kwara State, the extent of application of the internet of things in universities libraries in Kwara State, the benefit of internet of things in universities libraries in Kwara State, the challenges faced in the application of internet of things in universities libraries in Kwara State. The data collected from the study were analyzed using frequency tables and percentage. The study discovered that there the students are aware of the internet of things in universities libraries in Kwara State and the benefit of internet of a things include: Device in the IoT platforms are heterogeneous and are based on different hardware platforms and networks, It gives the high level of interoperability and interconnectivity, IoT platform has sensors which detect or measure any changes in the environment to generate data that can report on their status or even interact with the environment, IoT comes with the combination of algorithms and computation, software & hardware that makes it smart and Anything can be interconnected with the global information and communication infrastructure and the study identified data interpretation problem, Lack of skilled and specialized workers, Cost and Challenges in online security as well as Software complexity are major challenges faced in the application of internet of things in universities libraries in Kwara State. In conclusion the study made some recommendations which include that: Future libraries should be equipped with new technologies and networking devices as soon as possible. As this will be essential for users and librarians to have sufficient knowledge about IOT technologies.

  • Raster operations are widely used to display full-color graphics images (or pixmaps) and single-color images (or bitmaps). These features are strongly needed for image processing applications and font output. However, current mobile graphics platforms, including OpenGL ES hardware implementations, do not directly support these features. To fully support those raster operations on the mobile graphics platforms, we interpreted the graphics images as a set of 3D points, and processed those 3D points through the typical 3D geometry pipelines, in a full-software implementation. Our implementation shows sufficient execution speeds, and passed the official conformance tests to show its correctness.
