Study of Bidirectional DC-DC Converter Interfacing Energy Storage for Vehicle Power Management Using Real Time Digital Simulator (RTDS)

  • The bidirectional dc-dc converter, being the interface between Energy Storage Element (ESE) and DC bus, is an essential component of the power management system for vehicle applications including electric vehicle (EV), hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), and fuel cell vehicle (FCV). In this paper, a novel multiphase bidirectional dc-dc converter interfacing with battery to supply and absorb the electric energy in the FCV system was studied with the help of real time digital simulator (RTDS). The mathematical models of fuel cell, battery and dc-dc converter were derived. A power management strategy was developed and first simulated in RTDS. A Power Hardware-In-the-Loop (PHIL) simulation using RTDS is then presented. The main challenge of this PHIL is the requirement for a highly dynamic bidirectional Simulation-Stimulation (Sim-Stim) interface. This paper describes three different interface algorithms. The closed-loop stability of the resulting PHIL system is analyzed in terms of time delay and sampling rate. A prototype bidirectional Sim-Stim interface is designed to implement the PHIL simulation.

  • This paper describes the development of the pilot plant of distributed intelligent management system for a microgrid. For optimal control and management of microgrids, intelligent agents area applied to the microgrid management system. Each agent includes intelligent algorithms to make decisions on behalf of the corresponding microgrid entity such as distributed generators, local loads, and so on. To this end, each agent has its own resources to evaluate the system conditions by collecting local information and also communicating with other agents. This paper presents key features of the data communication and management of the developed pilot plant such as the construction of mesh network using local wireless communication techniques, the autonomous agent coordination schemes using plug-and-play functions of agents and contract net protocol (CNP) for decision-making. The performance of the pilot plant and developed algorithms are verified via real-time microgrid test bench based on hardware-in-the-loop simulation systems.

항공기에서 투하되는 수중운동체의 초기정렬기법 연구 (A Study of An Initial Alignment Method of Underwater Vehicle Dropped from Aircraft)

  • The Strap Down Inertial Measurement Unit(SDIMU) is recently used for the sensor package of the modern underwater vehicles such as torpedoes and unmanned underwater-vehicles. For using SDIMU, an initial alignment must be carried out before the fire or navigation stage. The general initial alignment methods require that a mother vehicle Is a stationary condition or the Inertial Navigation System(INS) of vehicle is received the specific of data navigation from the mother vehicle. But an underwater vehicle dropped from aircraft is hard to satisfy above both necessary conditions of the general initial alignment. So, we suggest a new strap down initial alignment method of an underwater vehicle dropped from aircraft without using any aided sensors. The highlight point of this method is that a period of initial alignment is not before the fire but during running stage to fix alignment error. And we verify it by analyzing various data of S/W simulations, Hardware In the Loop Simulation(HILS) tests and sea trials.

  • 무인기를 위한 자율 시스템은 임무 목표, 임무 상황, 무인기의 상태를 기반으로, 목표 달성을 위해 현재 수행할 행동을 결정하는 의사결정 능력을 가진다. 본 논문에서는 지형 충돌 위험이 있는 저고도 운용, 방문 순서를 변경하지 않아야 하는 항로점 집합, 임무 대상 객체의 위치 불확실성 등 현실적인 제약조건 하에서 감시정찰 임무를 자율적으로 수행할 수 있는 의사결정 시스템과 이러한 특성을 효과적으로 표현할 수 있는 임무 정의를 제시한다. 제안한 의사결정 시스템을 Hardware-In-the-Loop Simulation 환경에서 현실적인 임무 상황을 반영한 3종의 시나리오를 통해 검증한다. 무인기의 비행 경로와 임무 상황에서 의사결정 시스템이 선택한 행동을 시뮬레이션 결과로 제시하고, 그 결과를 논의한다.

아날로그 회로를 이용한 3상 PWM 출력 전압 측정 (Sensing of Three Phase PWM Voltages Using Analog Circuits)

  • This paper intends to suggest a sensing circuit of PWM voltage for a motor emulator operated in the inverter. In the emulation of the motor using a power converter, it is necessary to measure instantaneous voltage at the PWM voltage loaded from the inverter. Using a filter can generate instantaneous voltage, while it is difficult to follow the rapidly changing inverter voltage caused by the propagation delay and signal attenuation. The method of measuring the duty of PWM using FPGA can generate output voltage from the one-cycle delay of PWM, while the cost of hardware is increasing in order to acquire high precision. This paper suggests a PWM voltage sensing circuit using the analogue system that shows high precision, one-cycle delay of PWM and low-cost hardware. The PWM voltage sensing circuit works in the process of integrating input voltage for valid time by comparing levels of three-phase PWM input voltage, and produce the output value integrated at zero vector. As a result of PSIM simulation and the experiment with the produced hardware, it was verified that the suggested circuit in this paper is valid.

  • A functional suspension model is proposed as a kinematic describing function of the suspension, that represents the relative wheel displacement in polynomial form in terms of the vertical displacement of the wheel center and steering rack displacement. The relative velocity and acceleration of the wheel is represented in terms of first and second derivatives of the kinematic describing function. The system equations of motion for the full vehicle dynamic model are systematically derived by using velocity transformation method of multi-body dynamics. The comparison of test and simulation results demonstrates the validity of the proposed functional suspension modeling method. The model is computationally very efficient to achieve real-time simulation on TMS 320C6711 150 MHz DSP board of HILS (hardware-in-the-loop simulation) system for ECU (electronic control unit) evaluation of semi-active suspension.

  • 본 논문에서는 분산공유메모리 다중프로세서 시스템에서 하드웨어 구성요소와 실행환경이 시스템의 전체 성능에 미치는 영향을 시뮬레이션을 통하여 분석한다. PARSEC[1,2]을 이용하여 분산공유메모리 다중프로세서 시스템을 실제 실행환경에 근접하게 모델링하고 그 모델링된 시스템상에 2D FFT를 가상 실행하는 방식의 시뮬레이션 결과, 일반적으로 성능분석을 할 때 성능요소로 고려하지 않느 군소 하드웨어 요소들이 시스템 구성에 따라 시스템의 전체 성능에 상당한 영향을 미침을 밝힌다. 또한 반복순환 구문의 오버헤드, 코드최적화 등 실행조건에 따른 성능의 변화도 정량적으로 분석한다.

Control validation of Peugeot 3∞8 HYbrid4 Vehicle Using a Reduced-scale Power HIL Simulation

  • The new engineering challenges lead to a control of a vehicle more and more complex. To tackle this issue, Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) simulation is used in the development of real-time embedded systems. In this paper, the control of a double parallel hybrid vehicle is validated using a reduced power HIL simulation. A graphical description is used in order to organize the emulation and control. Some experimental results of a versatile testbed are given for the Peugeot $3{\infty}8$ HYbrid4.

고속 스위칭 동작의 주파수 합성기를 위한 하이브리드형 구조 설계와 DLT 대체 회로 연구 (Hybrid Type Structure Design and DLT-Replacement Circuit of the High-Speed Frequency Synthesizer)

  • 기존의 PLL(phase locked loop)은 폐루프 구조이므로 주파수 스위칭 속도가 낮은 단점을 갖는다. 이를 개선하기 위해서 개루프 구조를 혼합한 Digital Hybrid PLL 구조를 연구하였다. 또한 이 구조는 빠른 주파수 스위칭 속도로 동작할 수 있지만, VCO의 전압대 주파수 전달특성을 ROM 형태로 구현하는 DLT(digital look-up table)이 사용되어야 하므로 회로소자가 많아지고 소비전력이 증가된다. 그러므로, 본 논문에서는 복잡한 DLT의 구조를 간단한 Digital logic 회로로 대체시킨 새로운 구조를 제안하였다. 또한 주파수 합성때마다 타이밍 동기화를 이루는 회로를 설계하여 합성기의 항상성을 확보하였으며 DLT를 사용하는 방식과 비교하여 회로소자를 약 $28\%$정도 줄일 수 있다. 고속 스위칭 동작 특성과 주파수 합성을 시뮬레이션과 실제 회로 구현으로 확인하였다.
