  • Salt attack is one of the serious deterioration factor with respect to the durability of concrete structure. Especially, in case of exposed rebar concrete structure in marine environment, corrosion of rebar is accelerated by penetration of $Cl^-$ from exterior. Through this path, volume of corroded rebar is increased about two and half times due to increased inner pressure originated from rust. As a consequence, the overall deterioration of concrete structure, namely, cracks, reduction of adhesive strength and pop-out is followed. In this paper, the effect of structure treatment of concrete on chloride resistance has been investigated. At the same time, the relationship among several characteristics, such as resistance to chloride, water absorption coefficient and surface hardness of concrete has been investigated. It is believed that surface performance improvement by the application of penetrative hardening agent influences on positively water absorption coefficient, surface hardness of concrete and resistance to chloride ion penetration.

  • The Purpose of this study is to evaluate the strength characteristics of polyurethane(PUR) mortar cured under low temperature condition. PUR mortars are prepared with various catalyst content, methylene chloride(MC) content as a viscosity reducing agent, and curing age at low temperature condition of $0^{\circ}C$, -5$^{\circ}C$ and -1$0^{\circ}C$, tested for working life, compressive and flexural strengths. From the test results, the catalyst and MC contents affect the degree of hardening and blowing of PUR mortar. Strengths increase with an increasing catalyst content at low temperature. Flexural and compressive strength of PUR mortar are about 177kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ and 490kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ respectively at curing temperature of -1$0^{\circ}C$ with catalyst content of 0.4%. Therefore, it is apparent that this PUR mortars have a sufficient strengths for repair of concrete structures.

  • Amount used of admixture fare is increasing for concrete economic efficiency and ability security. Security of economic efficiency and ability can expect by use of this admixture fare but is displaying a lot of problems on early age strength hold by hydrate delay relatively. Specially, in the case of construction site, concrete strength can speak that interrelation is high with mold removal of forms time. Therefore, is economical and need examination of plan that can secure robber within 3 days using admixture fare such as fly ash and blast furnace slage differential speech to secure function. In this study, adding liquid admixture within 1% of a binding agent quantity to examine these problem with physical characteristic after hardening ago specially, strength change at standard and air dry curing of observed change in priority. Air dried and water curing total strength enhancement effects appeared by thing which is in case of add test result liquid admixture by below 1% and strength deputy by passage of age could know is not big.

  • In recent years there has been a growing interest for the use of natural fibers in composite applications due to their low cost, environmental friendliness, and good mechanical properties. The purpose of this study is to determine the characteristic of bending strength on bamboo fiber reinforced polymer composites. The parameters of RTM process depend on the weight ratio of bamboo fiber and resin, the number of bamboo ply and amount of hardening agent. Mechanical properties was investigated for each process factor of polymer composites. Test result shows that bending strength was a maximum(approximately 85MPa) value when composite thickness was 6mm and weight ratio of resin was 13%.

  • In case of high temperature damage such as fire, the durability of concrete is reduced due to the collapse of internal pore tissue. Therefore, in this paper, we are going to analyze the pore structure of cement paste hardening agent using MIP analysis and build up 3D data produced using X-ray CT tomography. The test specimen is made of cement paste from W/C 0.4. As the temperature of heating increased, the amount of air gap and the diameter of air gap in cement paste increased. It is judged that the air gap structure inside cement collapsed due to the evaporation of the hydrate, gel count, capillary water, etc. inside the cement due to the high temperature.

  • A huge amount of de-icing agent is sprayed during winter to promote traffic safety in cold regions, and the quantity of de-icing agent sprayed has increased each year. The main ingredients in commonly used de-icing agents are chlorides, such as calcium chloride($CaCl_2$) and sodium chloride(NaCl). While calcium chloride is mostly used in Korea and sodium chloride is usually used in the U.S. and Japan, all de-icing agents include chloride ions. The chlorides included in sprayed calcium chloride-based de-icing agents have severe adverse effects, including the corrosion of reinforcing steels through salt damage by infiltrating into road structures, reduced structural performance of pavement or damage to bridge structures, and surface scaling, in combination with freezing damage in winter, as well as water pollution. In addition, the deterioration of paved concrete road surface that occurs after the use of calcium chloride-based de-icing agent accelerates the development of visual problems with traffic structures. Therefore, the present study was performed to prepare an environment-friendly liquid de-icing agent through a reaction between waste organic acids and calcium-based by-products, which are industrial by-products, and to analyze the properties of the de-icing agent in order to evaluate its applicability to road facilities.

  • Preparation of cellulose type underwater non-segregation admixture was attempted and the hardening characteristics of underwater concrete according to the addition of this admixture was investigated in order to make underwater concrete with the compressive strength ratio of 0.8 to that of concrete manufactured in common atmosphere. The proposed underwater non-segregation admixture consisted of methyl cellulose of 0.4% by weight, silicon type antifoaming agent of 20% by weight, and sodium aluminate of 0.1% by weight to the amount of cement as setting accelerant, respectively. As the proposed non-segregation admixture was increased, the amount of suspended solid decreased, air content in concrete was increased but the flow loses by elapsed time did not change. The proper amount added of the proposed non-segregation adimixture was 0.8 wt% to the amount of cement. The compressive strength of the test sample underwater concrete manufactured by the addition of the proposed admixture was $325Kg/cm^3$, and the ratio of compressive strength of this sample concrete to that of a concrete manufactured in air was 0.94.

  • This article aims to find method to mix a harmless hardening agent and soil generated during construction to make paving materials. The main purpose of this research is to get rid of the harmfulness(Chromium (VI), etc.) of cement which has been generally and frequently used as a hardening agent and strengthen it so that it can be used for the general foundation solidification and stabilization of civil engineering/construction structures such as dredging soil treatment, marine structure foundation treatment, surface soil stabilization, and river bank erosion prevention. NSS(Natural Stabilizer Soil) used for this study takes as its chief ingredient the mixture of lime and staple fibers extracted from natural fibers. It increases the shearing strength of soil that it improves the support and durability of the foundation and prevents flooding and frost as well. The pH measured to know its eco-friendliness was 6.67~7.15, and according to the migration testing, only Pb and CN were lower than the standards, so it can be said that NSS has almost no harmful components in it. According to the result of uniaxial strength testing, when the mixture ratio of weathered soil to NSS was 6%, about 1,850kpa strength was expressed. And according to the result of CBR. testing to figure out its appropriateness as a paving material, the CBR of the foundation was 4%~6%. But when the mixture ratio of NSS is over 6%, the water immersion CBR. is over 100%; thus, it is expected that it will show great utility as a paving material.

  • Heavy rainfall intensity may cause shallow slope failures and debris flow by rill erosion and scour on land surface. The paper represents the difference between native soil (weathered soil) and reinforced soil, which is mixed by hardening agent with flyash as main material, for investigating experimental findings of rill erosion and erosion. Results obtained from artificial rainfall simulator show that erosion rate of reinforced soil mixed with hardening agent is reduced by 20% because an amount of eroded soil on slope surface is inversely proportional to the increase of soil strength. For example, rainfall of 45mm (at the elapsed time of 25mins in rainfall intensity of 110mm/hr) triggers rill erosion on native soil surface, but the rill erosion on reinforced soil surface does not even occur at 330mm rainfall (at the elapsed time of 3hrs in rainfall intensity of 110mm/hr). As a result of slope stability analysis, it was found that the construction method for reinforced soil surface would be more economical, easy and fast construction technology than conventional reinforcement method.
