  • This paper is aimed to handle quick work for all the workers and to improve the productivity by adding more effective content in Crane Monitoring System. This contributing proportion of the increase of port productivity is more increasing concerning not only the port industry, but also all the informations of container crane which is the representative equipment by the rapid increase of the volume of freight of port. The basic of rapid service is the improvement of the productivity, the information of operation as to the productivity of crane for the quick handling within yard and especially the informations of breakdown and to handle breakdown as soon as possible has a greate effect on the increase of productivity.

  • Haptic interface apparatus is the device which can offer users virtual reality not only by visualization of virtual space but also by force or tactile feedback. In this paper, we designed and fabricated a 2D haptic interface device that can be used for various purposes, and implemented a virtual air-hockey system that users can easily find in game rooms. By suitable modeling and haptic rendering, users can feel the impact and the reaction force with his/her hand holding the handle through 2D haptic interface device when he/she hit an air-hockey puck with the handle. Through the trial demonstration. we observed the reasonable effect of direction and speed of a ball like doing in reality.

  • 본 연구에서는 토지정보체계(GIS)의 도형정보 처리를 위한 객체지향 데이타베이스를 개발하고, 이를 위하여 사용된 프로그램 개발방법을 설명하였다. 본 연구의 결과, 도형자료를 저장하고 관리하기 위한 자료모델을 개발하였으며, 개체지향 프로그래밍기법에 의한 도형자료 관리를 실현하였다. 도형자료 처리를 위한 자료모델을 개발함에 있어서, 관망해석을 하지 않는 자료관리만을 목표로 하였기 때문에 위상학적(topology) 자료구조를 갖지 않는 단순한 벡터모델을 사용하였다. 차후에 관거의 연결망을 기초로 하는 분석기능을 개발할 경우에는, 도형자료 처리를 위한 자료구조 부분에 대하여 수정 또는 추가 개발이 필요할 것이다.

  • This paper presents a PCI (Peripheral Component Interconnect) controller embedded in a multimedia processor, called FLOVA (FLOating point VLIW Architecture), targeting for 3D graphics applications. Fast I/O interfaces are essential for multimedia processors which usually handle large amount of multimedia data. Therefore, in FLOVA, PCI bus is adopted for I/O interface due to fast burst transaction. However, there are several problems in implementation and verification to use burst transaction of PCI. It is difficult to handle data transaction between two units which have two different operating frequency. FLOVA has more higher operating frequency about 100MHz than that of PCI local bus and it makes lower utilization of FLOVA bus. Also, traditional simulation is not sufficient for verification of PCI functionality. In this paper, we propose buffering schemes to implement the PCI controller with wide bandwidth and high bus utilization. Also, this paper shows how to verify the PCI controller using real PCI bus environments before its fabrication.

  • The recent sudden increase of big data has characteristics such as continuous generation of data, large amount, and unstructured format. The existing relational database technologies are inadequate to handle such big data due to the limited processing speed and the significant storage expansion cost. Current implemented solutions are mainly based on relational database that are no longer adapted to these data volume. NoSQL solutions allow us to consider new approaches for data warehousing, especially from the multidimensional data management point of view. In this paper, we develop and propose the integrated design methodology based on MongoDB for big data applications. The proposed methodology is more scalable than the existing methodology, so it is easy to handle big data.

  • Spent nuclear fuel is very dangerous substance emitting strong ionizing radiation which is harmful to human body. The remote handling of spent nuclear fuel is essential because people cannot access this substance without protecting radiation. To handle highly radioactive material or nuclear waste, many kinds of teleoperators such as master slave manipulator, electro mechanical manipulator, servo manipulator, mobile robot was developed. The distance and dimension of target object cannot be measured easily when highly radioactive material is handled by teleoperator because one should use lead glass or TV camera and monitor to protect radiation and see target object. During experiments on the remote handling of spent nuclear fuel by electro mechanical manipulator, we often felt that a distance and dimension measurement system is necessary to handle the objects which is in the highly radioactive environment, so we developed a system which is appropriate for this purpose.

  • To get the robust and reliable input command, we designed shaping function for target tracking system with commander's handle. Input signals of the commander's handle are generated by human operator. It is response of the human to reduce the error between target and gun. But, tracking error while operator aim a moving target manually gives poor system performance. Input noise, particularly, affects hit accuracy as the system performance. We proposed the design method of input command shaping to reduce the Input noise and to improve the operation ability and convenience. We performed the experiments with combat vehicle, example of Target Tracking System, to show the proposed method is efficient and practical.

Dynamic Simulation of Modifiable Walking Pattern Generation to Handle Infeasible Navigational Commands for Humanoid Robots

  • The modifiable walking pattern generation (MWPG) algorithm can handle dynamic walking commands by changing the walking period, step length, and direction independently. When an infeasible command is given, the algorithm changes the command to a feasible one. After the feasibility of the navigational command is checked, it is translated into the desired center of mass (CM) state. To achieve the desired CM state, a reference CM trajectory is generated using predefined zero moment point (ZMP) functions. Based on the proposed algorithm, various complex walking patterns were generated, including backward and sideways walking. The effectiveness of the patterns was verified in dynamic simulations using the Webots simulator.

Autonomous Navigation of an Underwater Robot in the Presence of Multiple Moving Obstacles

  • Obstacle avoidance of underwater robots based on a modified virtual force field algorithm is proposed in this paper. The VFF(Virtual Force Field) algorithm, which is widely used in the field of mobile robots, is modified for application to the obstacle avoidance of underwater robots. This Modified Virtual Force Field(MVFF) algorithm using the fuzzy lgoc can be used in moving obstacles avoidance. A fuzzy algorithm is devised to handle various situations which can be faced during autonomous navigation of underwater robots. The proposed obstacle avoidance algorithm has ability to handle multiple moving obstacles. Results of simulation show that the proposed algorithm can be efficiently applied to obstacle avoidance of the underwater robots.
