  • 본 논문에서는 폴디드 하이퍼큐브와 HFH 네트워크 사이의 임베딩을 분석한다. 폴디드 하이퍼큐브 $FQ_{2n}$는 HFH($C_n,C_n$)에 연장율 4, 확장율 $\frac{(C_n)^2}{2^{2n}}$에 임베딩 가능함을 보이고, HFH($C_d,C_d$)를 폴디드 하이퍼큐브 $FQ_{4d-2}$에 임베딩하는 비용은 O(d)임을 보인다.

  • 본 논문은 자연대류상에서 냉각되는 하이브리드 휜 히트싱크(Hybrid Fin Heat Sink, HFH)의 열특성에 대한 수치연구결과를 보고한다. HFH는 평판휜이 결합된 내부유로가 있는 핀 휜으로 이루어진 하이브리드 휜으로 구성된다. HFH의 열성능은 상용 CFD 소프트웨어를 이용하여 수치적으로 연구되었고 핀 휜 히트싱크(Pin Fin Heat Sink, PFH)의 열성능과 비교되었다. 수치연구결과를 통해 HFH의 베이스면적기반, 질량기반 열전달계수가 PFH 보다 각각 12%, 37% 우수함을 발견했다. 증대된 표면적과 가벼운 무게는 PFH보다 우수한 HFH의 열성능을 설명할 수 있다.

  • 본 논문에서는 Folded 하이퍼-스타 연결망을 기반으로 하는 새로운 상호연결망, 계층적 Folded 하이퍼-스타 연결망 HFH($C_n,\;C_n$)을 제안한다. 그리고 본 논문에서 제안한 HFH($C_n,\;C_n$)가 Folded 하이퍼-스타 연결망과 기존에 제안된 계층적 연결망인 HCN(m,m), HFN(m,m)보다 망비용(지름${\times}$분지수) 측면에서 우수한 연결망임을 보인다. 또한 HFH($C_n,\;C_n$)의 여러 가지 망 성질(연결도, 라우팅 알고리즘, 지름, 방송)을 분석한다.

  • 계층적 폴디드 하이퍼스타 네트워크는 동일한 노드 개수를 갖는 계층적 네트워크인 HCN(n,n)과 HFN(n,n)보다 망비용이 우수한 연결망이다. 본 연구에서는 하이퍼큐브, HCN(n,n), HFN(n,n)과 계층적 폴디드 하이퍼스타 HFH($C_n,C_n$) 사이의 임베딩을 분석한다. 임베딩 결과는 HCN(n,n), HFN(n,n), 하이퍼큐브 $Q_{2n}$은 계층적 폴디드 하이퍼스타 HFH($C_n,C_n$)에 확장율 $\frac{C^n}{2^{2n}}$과 연장율 2, 3, 4로 각각 임베딩 가능하다. 또한, 계층적 폴디드 하이퍼스타 HFH($C_n,C_n$)는 계층적 네트워크인 HFN(2n,2n)에 연장율 1에 임베딩 가능하다. 이러한 임베딩 결과는 하이퍼큐브, HCN(n,n), HFN(n,n)에서 개발된 알고리즘을 계층적 폴디드 하이퍼스타 HFH($C_n,C_n$)에서 효율적으로 활용 가능함을 의미한다.

Antibacterial Activity and Synergism of Hydnocarpi Semen Extracts with Ampicillin or Oxacillin against Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus

  • Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a serious clinical and an urgent problem worldwide. Few new drugs are available against MRSA, because MRSA has the ability to acquire resistance to most antibiotics, which consequently increases the cost of medication. In the present study, the antibacterial activity of Hydnocarpi Semen was investigated. The most effective method is to develop antibiotics from the natural products without having any toxic or side effects. Therefore, there is a need to develop alternative antibacterial drugs for the treatment of infectious diseases. Five Clinical isolates (MRSA) were obtained from five different patients at Wonkwang University Hospital (Iksan, South Korea). The Other 2 strains were ATCC 33591 (Methicillin-resistant strain) and ATCC 25923 (Methicillin-susceptible strain). Antibacterial activity (Minimal Inhibitory Concentrations, MICs) was determined by broth dilution method, disk diffusion method, MTT test, and checkerboard dilution test. Antibacterial activity of n-hexane fraction was remarkable, and had a MICs ranging from $31.25-125{\mu}g/m{\ell}$. FICI values for HFH+AM and HFH+OX were 0.13-0.19 and 0.04-0.29, showing the increase of synergistic effect. When combined together, these antibacterial effects were dramatically increased.

  • The slowly growing microaerophilic Helicobacter strains were isolated from the fecal pallets of 2 BALB/cA-Hfh11$\^$nu/ mice with rectal prolapse. The rectums of these mice protruded approximately 2 to 3 mm from the anus and varied in color from pale pink to deep red. Histopathologically, chronic proliferative colitis and proctitis were observed. The epithelium were hyperplastic and lymphocytes infiltrated markedly in mucosa and submucosa. Our isolated bactrial strains were characterized by morphological, physiological, molecular methods and special staining, and they were found to be Helicobacter hepaticus. We could not find any other pathogens from both mice. These results demonstrate that this organism may be a pathogen of the inflammatory large bowel disease in immunodeficent mice.

  • 기존 혈관에서 새로운 혈관을 형성하는 혈관 신생은 혈관 신생 조절인자에 의해 조절되는 다단계 과정이며 배아 발달, 만성 염증 및 상처 복구를 포함한 다양한 생리학적 과정에 필수적이다. 혈관 신생의 조절장애는 암, 자가 면역 질환, 류마티스 관절염, 심혈관 질환 및 상처 치유 지연과 같은 많은 질병을 유발한다. 그러나 효과적인 혈관신생 억제 약물은 제한되어 있으며, 최근 연구에서는 천연 자원에서 잠재적인 약물후보를 식별하는 데 중점을 두고 있다. 예를 들어, 해양 천연물은 항암, 항산화, 항염증, 항바이러스 및 상처 치유 효과를 입증했다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 톳(갈조류) 추출물의 혈관 신생 억제 효과를 확인했습니다. H. fusiformis 추출물은 인간 제대 정맥 내피 세포(HUVECs)에서 세포 이동, 침윤 및 관 형성을 억제하며, 동시에 Matrigel 겔 플러그 분석을 통해 생체 내 혈관 신생을 억제를 확인했다. 또한, 톳 추출물 처리 후 VEGF, Erk, Akt의 활성이 감소하는 것을 확인했다. 이 결과를 토대로 H. fusiformis 추출물이 in vitro 및 in vivo 혈관 신생을 억제함을 시사한다.

Characterization of a Cell Line HFH-T2, Producing Viral Particles, from Primary Human Fetal Hepatocytes Infected with Hepatitis B Virus

  • A primary culture of human fetal hepatocytes was obtained through a therapeutic abortion process at 26 weeks of gestation period. More than $10^8$ cells were seeded on a plastic plate. These hepatocytes were infected with hepatitis B virus (HBV). The HBV was purified from serum of one chronic HBV carrier. Transformed hepatocytes were subcultured in a 10% FBS-supplemented medium. The morphology of the transformed cell was epithelial-like. The cells from the first pass showed signs of early proliferation and had a latent period of more than 3 months after 6-7 passages. After the rest period, the transformed cell proliferated actively and they were subcultured every three days. Transformed hepatocytes were characterized by detection of the HBV transcript by RT-PCR. The secretion of virions from transformed cells was investigated by PCR with the cell medium. Two types of virions secreted into the culture medium were examined by using the transmission electron microscope. Another approach to study the secretion of virions in to culture medium was carried out with HBV antibody. HBsAg was detected in the culture medium of transformed cells using ELISA and Western blot analyses. These data suggested that the human fetal hepatocyte cell line has been established by infection of HBV, in which this cell line secreted viral particles into the culture medium.

The relationship between the variants in the 5'-untranslated regions of equine chorionic gonadotropin genes and serum equine chorionic gonadotropin levels

  • Objective: An experiment was conducted to study the association between the single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in 5'-untranslated regions (5'-UTR) of equine chorionic gonadotropin (eCG) genes and the serum eCG levels. Methods: SNPs in 5'-UTR of eCG genes were screened across 10 horse breeds, including 7 Chinese indigenous breeds and 3 imported breeds using iPLEX chemistry, and the association between the serum eCG levels of 174 pregnant Da'an mares and their serum eCG levels (determined with ELISA) was analyzed. Results: Four SNPs were identified in the 5'-UTR of the $eCG{\alpha}$ gene, and one of them was unique in the indigenous breeds. There were 2 SNPs detected at the 5' end of the $eCG{\beta}$ subunit gene, and one of them was only found in the Chinese breeds. The SNP g.39948246T>C at the 5'-UTR of $eCG{\alpha}$ was associated significantly with eCG levels of 75-day pregnant mare serum (p<0.05) in Da'an mares. Prediction analysis on binding sites of transcription factors showed that the g.39948246T>C mutation causes appearance of the specific binding site of hepatocyte nuclear factor 3 forkhead homolog 2 (HFH-2), which is a transcriptional repressor belonging to the forkhead protein family of transcription factors. Conclusion: The SNP g.39948246T>C at the 5'-UTR of $eCG{\alpha}$ is associated with eCG levels of 75-day pregnant mare serum (p<0.05).

식용 해조류 톳(Hizikia fusiformis) 유래 항산화 활성분획물의 산화적 손상이 유도된 인간피부섬유아세포 보호 효과 (Protective Effects of Antioxidant Active Fractions Derived from the Edible Seaweed Hizikia fusiformis in Oxidatively Stressed Human Dermal Fibroblasts)

  • We investigated the protective effects of antioxidant fractions from a 70% ethanolic extract of Hizikia fusiformis in human dermal fibroblasts (HDFs). Powdered H. fusiformis was extracted with 70% ethanol and then partitioned into three fractions according to polarity using n-hexane (HFH), chloroform (HFC), and ethyl acetate (HFEA). Antioxidant activity was observed in HFEA at 0.66 mg/mL based on the half maximal inhibitory concentration ($IC_{50}$) of 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH), and at 0.24 mg/mL based on alkyl radical scavenging. The protective effects of the HFEA antioxidant fraction against 2,2-azobis-(2-amidinopropane) dihydrochloride (AAPH)-damaged HDFs and the expression of Type I procollagen in HDFs were examined. HFEA caused the proliferation of HDFs with and without AAPH treatment and protected against AAPH damage to HDFs in a dose-dependent manner ($50-200{\mu}g/mL$). This implies that the antioxidant properties of the fractions depended on their proliferative and protective effects. The HFEA antioxidant fraction had significant effects and caused the dose-dependent expression of Type I procollagen, an important anti-wrinkle protein, in HDFs. In conclusion, antioxidant substances in H. fusiformis were found in the ethyl acetate fraction, and the resulting HFEA may have cosmetic applications.
