Design of a repetitive controller for the system with unstructured uncertainty (비구조적인 불확실성을 가지는 시스템에 대한 반복 제어기의 설계)

  • Repetitive control is a proposed control strategy in view of the internal model principle and achieves a high accuracy asymptotic tracking property by implementing a model that generates the periodic signals of period into the closed-loop system. Since the repetitive control system contains a periodic signal generator with positive feedback loop, which reduces the stability margin, in the overall closed-loop system, the stability of the closed-loop system should be considered as an important problem. In case that a real system has plant uncertainties which are not represented through modeling, the robust stability problem of the repetitive control system has not been considered sufficiently. In this paper, we propose the robust stability condition for the system with modeling uncertainty. The proposed robust stability condition will be obtained using the robust performance condition in the H$_{\infty}$ control. Moreover, by use of the proposed robust stability condition, we propose a procedure that designs a repetitive controller and a feedback controller simultaneously which can stabilize the overall closed-loop system robustly and which can also do the closedloop system without repetitive controller..

  • This paper addresses the robust fault tolerant controller design problems of static output systems with disturbance. The fault is expressed by the abrupt chattering of system parameters. The design conditions are derived in terms of linear matrix inequalities and linear matrix equalities. An illustrative example is provided to verify performances of the proposed controller.

  • Recently, the magnetic bearings which have many advantages such as no noise, less mechanical friction are widely applied to the suspension of rotors on the rotary machineries. However, the magnetic bearing system is inherently unstable, nonlinear and MIMO(multi-input-multi-output) system as well. In this paper, we design a state feedback controller using linear matrix inequality(LMI) to the multi-objective synthesis, for the magnetic bearing system with integral type servo system. The design objectives include $H_{\infty}$ performance, asymptotic disturbance rejection, and time-domain constraints on the closed-loop pole location. The results of computer simulation show the validity of the designed controller.

  • This paper deals with an output feedback H control problem for linear time ivariant systems with state delay. The proposed output feedback controller is represented by the lower linear fractional transformation of alinear time invariant system and a delay operator. Sufficient conditions for the existence of the output feedback controller are given in the form of linear matrix inequalities which are less conservative than those for the existence of a rational output feedback controler. We also present a numerical example to demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed method.of the proposed method.

  • In this paper the modeling and control of a twin roll strip caster is investigated. Mathematical models for the strip casting process are obtained by analyzing five critical areas such that the molten steel level in the pool, solidification process, roll separating force and torque, roll dynamics including hydraulic actuators, and roll drive system. A two-level control strategy is proposed. At lower level, three local subsystems are independently feedback-controlled by suitable local controllers which perform well to the behaviors of each subsystem. They are a variable structure control of the molten steel level in the pool, an adaptive predictive control of the roll gap which is directly related to the strip thickness, and an $H^{\infty}$ control of the roll drive system. At higher level, all reference signals to the lower level subsystems are generated by an optimal controller in the perspective of regulating the strip thickness and roll separating force.   • The ship's propulsion efficiency depends upon a combibation of engine and propeller. The propeller has better efficiency as the engine has lower rotational speed. This situation led the engine manufacures to design the engine that has lower speed, longer stroke and a small number of cylinders. With this new trends the conventional mechanical-hydrualic governors for engine speed control have been replaced by digital speed controllers which adopted the PID control or the optimal control algorithm. But these control algorithms have not enough robustness to suppress the variations of the delay-time and the parameter perturbation especially in low speed engine. In this study we consider the perturbations of the engine parameters as the modeling uncetainties and design a robust speed controller for marine medium speed diesel engine by means of $ extit{H}_{infty}$control theory having the central solution. By comparing the results of the robust speed controller with those of mechanical governor and PID controller, the validity of the robust speed controller under parameter variations is confirmed. The speed control of the experimental diesel engine of carried out using actuator which is composed of PWM signal generator and D.C servo motor.

  • This paper describes a state feedback controller design method of the integral type magnetic levitation servo system which satisfies the design objectives. The design objective is a $H_{\infty}$ performance, asymptotic disturbance rejection and a robust pole assignment in linear matrix inequality(LMI) region. To the end, we investigated the validity of the designed controller which considering a robust pole assignment region, through results of simulation.

  • The flexible structure like solar array and antenna in spacecraft shows very sensitive responses to the inner or outer disturbance and noise. And the spacecraft becomes more complex and larger as it has various mission and role. But since the spacecraft need to have the limited mass, the thin and light material should be selected and this necessity induces the decrease d natural frequency and structural stiffness. It reduces the ability of adapting to the disturbance and induces the structural unstability. Certainly, the disturbance does not only make the structural unstability, but also give the bad effect to the precise attitude control. So it is necessary to control the vibration in the space. In this paper, the flexible structure control modeling with piezo sensor and piezo actuator is developed. The model uncertainty of damping ratio is overcome by robust control. The system equation is induced by the finite element method.

An Adaptive Speed Control of a Diesel Engine by Means of the On-line Parameter Estimate (디젤기관의 on-line 파라미터 추정에 의한 적응 속도제어)

  • Recently, for the speed control of a diesel engine, some methods using the modern control theory such as LQ control technique, or $\textit{H}_{\infty}$control theory etc., have been reported. However, most of speed controlers of a diesel engine ever developed are still using the PID control algorithm. And, as another approach to the speed control of a diesel engine, the authors proposed already a new method to adjust the parameters of the PID controller by a model matching method. In the previous paper, the authors confirmed that the proposed new method is superior to Ziegler & Nichols's method through the analysis of results of the digital simulations under the assumption that the parameters of a diesel engine are known exactly. But, actually, it is very difficult to find out the value of parameters of a diesel engine accurately. And the parameters of a diesel engine are changigng according to the operating condition of a diesel engine. So, in this paper, a method to estimate the parameters of the PID controller for the speed control of a diesel engine by means of the model matching method are proposed. Also, the digital simulations are carried out in cases either with or without measurement noise. And this paper confirms that the proposed method here is superior to Ziegler & Nichols's method through the analysis of the characteristics of indicial responses.

A Target State Estimator Design to Improve the Gun Driving Command (포 구동명령 개선을 위한 표적상태 추정기 설계)

  • This paper presents a target sate estimator(TSE) with low pass filter for improving the gun driving command. The ballistic computer uses target information such as predicted range, velocity, acceleration of a target to generate the gun command. We adopt the finite impulse response(FIR) filter as our TSE to shorten calculation time for the driving command and due to its inherent stability property. We also introduce a post-processing filter to reduce the high frequency components in the output signal of a TSE which may cause instability of gun driving. The first order low pass filter has been designed based on $H{\infty}$ criteria considering the noise characteristics. To show the validity of the present scheme, simulation results are given for the overall gun driving system including aircraft target information.
