  • We present an efficient decentralized, symmetric mutual exclusion algorithm for the hypercube architecture. The algorithm is based on the technique which embeds a mesh into a hypercube. We compare the performance of our algorithm with that of Gupta et al.'s algorithm. As a result of performance comparison, the minimum round-trip delay is equal to that of Gupta et al.'s algorithm, the average blocking delay is a little longer than that of Gupta et al.'s algorithm, and the number of messages per access to critical resource is fewer than that of Gupla et al.'s algorithm.

  • In this paper, an epipolar model without the ephemeris data is proposed. Also, various epipolar models such as the epipolar geometry of perspective sensor, the one proposed by Gupta and Hartley and the one based on the Orun and Natarajan's sensor model are reviewed and their accuracy are quantitatively analyzed using devised measure. Modeling data from ground control points, ground control points, ephemeris data and independent checking points are selected on SPOT over Taejon and Boryung area and KOMPSAT over Taejon and Nonsan area. Based on the results, the epipolar model of perspective sensor and the one by Gupta and Hartley have the average accuracy within 1 pixel but show high errors in several checking points. The proposed epipolarity model provides better results than that of perspective sensor and by Gupta and Hartley. Also, it shows the accuracy similar to the one based on Orun and Natarajan's sensor model.

  • The blocks world is the primary problem domain in the artificial intelligence. Many planners have been developed in domain-independent. Gupta de fined the deadlock in the blocks world, and he proved that decision making in t he blocks world is NP-Complete problem. In this paper the properties of the dea dlock are analyzed, and a heuristic algorithms which can handle the deadlock of the Gupta's nondeterministic algorithm is proposed.

  • The subset selection approach introduced by Gupta plays an important role in the multiple decision procedures. For the normal means problem with common unknown variance, some operating characteristics of the selection procedure have been investigated via Monte Carlo simulation. Also some properties including efficiencies of the selection procedure are examined when the data are contaminated.

  • In this paper, we apply Homotopy perturbation transform method (HPTM) for solving singular fourth order parabolic partial differential equations with variable coefficients. This method is the combination of the Laplace transform method and Homotopy perturbation method. The nonlinear terms can be easily handled by the use of He's polynomials. The aim of using the Laplace transform is to overcome the deficiency that is mainly caused by unsatisfied conditions in other semi-analytical methods such as Homotopy perturbation method (HPM), Variational iteration method (VIM) and Adomain Decomposition method (ADM). The proposed scheme finds the solutions without any discretization or restrictive assumptions and avoids the round-off errors. The comparison shows a precise agreement between the results and introduces this method as an applicable one which it needs fewer computations and is much easier and more convenient than others, so it can be widely used in engineering too.

  • In the present paper efforts have been made to optimize InAlAs/InGaAs HEMT by enhancing the effective gate voltage ($(V_c-V_off)$) using pulsed doped structure from uniformly doped to delta doped for microwave frequency applications and reliability. The detailed design criteria to select the proper design parameters have also been discussed in detail to exclude parallel conduction without affecting the del ice performance. Then the optimized value of $V_c-V_off$and breakdown voltages corresponding to maximum value of transconductance has been obtained. These values are then used to predict the transconductance and cut-off frequency of the del ice for different channel depths and gate lengths.

  • The plants, Trianthema decandra and Glinus oppositifolius are commonly used by tribal people in India for the treatment of liver diseases. Hepatoprotective activity of methanol extracts of Glinus oppositifolius and Trianthema decandra at the dose of 250 and 500 mg/kg body weight administered orally was evaluated against paracetamol induced liver damage in rats. Biochemical parameters such as serum glutamate oxaloacetate transaminase, serum glutamate pyruvate transaminase, serum alkaline phosphatase, bilirubin, total serum protein, lipid peroxide and glutathione content of the liver were estimated to determine liver function and metabolism. From the biochemical observations, it was concluded that methanol extracts of Glinus oppositifolius and Trianthema decandra significantly restored the altered biochemical parameters towards normal condition in paracetamol induced liver damage.

  • The plant Indigofera aspalathoides is used by a large number of tribes in India for the treatment of various hepatic disorders and abscesses. The methanol extract of Indigofera aspalathoides (MEIA) was evaluated for its protective effects on gastric mucosal lesion in Wister albino rats against indomethacin, histamine and ethanol induced gastric mucosal damage. The response to MEIA was assessed using the ulcer index, thiobarbituric acid reactive substance (TBARS), and glutahione level. MEIA pretreatment showed protection against chemical induced gastric mucosal damage, a significant reduction in the ulcer index and TBARS activity and increase glutathione level as compared with that of standard drugs.

  • In this paper, we consider maximum likelihood estimators of normal distribution based on type II censoring. Gupta (1952) and Cohen (1959, 1961) required a table for an auxiliary function to compute since they did not have an explicit form; however, we derive an explicit form for the estimators using a method to approximate the likelihood function. The derived estimators are a special case of Balakrishnan et al. (2003). We compare the estimators with the Gupta's linear estimators through simulation. Gupta's linear estimators are unbiased and easily calculated; subsequently, the proposed estimators have better performance for mean squared errors and variances, although they show bigger biases especially when the ratio of the complete data is small.
