부동액에 따른 회주철 라이너의 캐비테이션 부식에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Cavitation Corrosion of Gray Cast Iron Liner by Antifreeze)

  • The cylinder liner of a diesel engine is commonly made of gray cast iron. However, this cylinder liner can be damaged by the cavitation phenomenon in wet conditions. This cavitation has remained an unsolved problem until now. In this study, the cause of cavitation corrosion due to antifreeze solution was examined using a scanning electron microscope (SEM) and a 3D microscope. The necessary data to prevent the damage caused by cavitation erosion and the corrosion of gray cast iron cylinder liner was obtained. Analysis determined that the gray iron structure consists of an ${\alpha}-matrix$, flake graphite, and steadite. Cavitation erosion was initiated in the coarse flake graphite and propagated into the steadite with pitting. Under repetitive reaction conditions, the ${\alpha}-matrix$ was partially separated from the gray cast iron. This study is expected to be used as the basic data for the prevention of gray cast iron cavitation erosion and corrosion by controlling the graphite and steadite phases.

FABRICATION OF ZrO2-BASED NANOCOMPOSITES FOR TRANSURANIC ELEMENT-BURNING INERT MATRIX FUEL

  • $ZrO_2$-based composites reinforced with 6.5 vol.% of carbon foam, carbon fiber, and graphite were fabricated using spark plasma sintering, and characterized using scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffractometry. Their thermal properties were also investigated. The microstructures of the reinforced composites showed that carbon fiber fully reacted with $ZrO_2$, whereas carbon foam and graphite did not. The carbothermal reaction of carbon fiber had a negative effect on the thermal properties of the reinforced $ZrO_2$ composites because of the formation of zirconium oxycarbide. Meanwhile, the addition of carbon foam had a positive effect, increasing the thermal conductivity from 2.86 to $3.38Wm^{-1}K^{-1}$ at $1,100^{\circ}C$. These findings suggest that the homogenous distribution and chemical stability of reinforcement material affect the thermal properties of $ZrO_2$-based composites.

Li-CICs의 Deintercalation에 따른 구조변이와 열적, 전기적 안정성과의 관계(II) : Li-EaGDICs와 Li-EGDICs에 관하여 (The relation of structural transition, thermal and electrical stability deintercalation of Li- CICs(II) : For Li-EaGDICs and Li-EGDICs)

  • 가온 가압법에 의하여 합성된 Li-EaGICs, Li-EGICs를 자발적으로 분해시켜서 이들의 deintercalation 과정에 대하여 X-선 회절분석, 열분해분석 및 전기비저항값을 측정하여 이들 결과에 대하여 토론하였다. Intercalation에 대한 X-선 회절분석 결과에 의하면, Li-EaGICs 와 Li-EGICs는 1 stage가 완전하게 형성되지 않았고, 주로 저차 stage가 형성되었다. 또한 deintercalation 결과에 의하면, 4주 이후에는 deintercalation이 멈추었으며 Li-EGDlCs는 Li-EaGDlCs보다 층간 잔유 금속을 많이 가지고 있음을 알 수 있다. 열분해분석 결과에 의하면 두가지 하합물 모두 강한 밭열반응을 수반하였으며, 또한 $400^{\circ}C$ 이상에서는 반응이 수반되지 않는 것으로 보아 intercalants들이 완전히 deintercalation 되었음을 알 수 있다. 전기 비저항 측정 결과에 의하면 Li-EGDlCs는 상대적으로 낮은 비저항값을 가지고 있었으며, Li-EaGDICs는 이상적인 비저항 곡선을 나타내었다. 이들 결과로부터 Li-EaGICs가 Li-EGlCs 보다 2차 전지의 양극재료로서 더 좋은 성질을 가지고 있음을 알 수 있다.

Charge Transport Properties of Polyaniline-gold/graphite Oxide Composite Films

  • A polyaniline-gold composite was prepared via the polymerization of aniline hydrochloride with or without water-soluble graphite oxide using auric acid as an oxidant. The reaction products were characterized using Xray photoelectron spectroscopy. The thermal stability and embedded crystallinity of the composites were also investigated using thermogravimetric and X-ray diffraction analyses. The electrical properties of the composites were examined using cyclic voltammetric measurements at room temperature and temperature-dependent DC conductivity within 300-500 K. Compared to pure graphene oxide and polyaniline-gold composite, the polyaniline-gold-graphene composite exhibited higher crystallinity and thermal stability, and higher current density response under equivalent conditions.

Ni-MH 전지용 thin nickel foam의 제조 (Preparation of Thin Nickel Foam for Nickel-Metal Hydride Battery)

  • A new method for preparation of thin nickel foam for Ni-MH battery was investigated. In this method, fine graphite powders of $1\mu\textrm{m}$$2\mu\textrm{m}$ diameter were pasted into pores of thin polyurethane foam film in order to supply electric conducting seeds for nickel deposition by electroless plating reaction. After electroless plating, remaining polyurethane foam was removed chemically by organic solvent treatment and graphite particles also removed by ultrasonic cleaning. Porosity of formed nickel foam was about 85% During electroplating, porosity of the nickel foam decreased less than 5% up to $30\mu\textrm{m}$ coating thickness. And then it was electroplated and heat-treated to improve mechanical strength and ductility. Finally, thin nickel foam for Ni electrode of Ni-MH battery with 80% porosity and $350\mu\textrm{m}$~X$400\mu\textrm{m}$ thickness was obtained.

  • In this study we investigated the electrocatalytic oxidation of saccharose on conductive polymer- Nickel oxide modified graphite electrodes based on the ability of anionic surfactants to form micelles in aqueous media. This NiO modified electrode showed higher electrocatalytic activity than Ni rode electrode in electrocatalytic oxidation of saccharose. The anodic peak currents show linear dependency with the square root of scan rate. This behavior is the characteristic of a diffusion controlled process. Under the CA regime the reaction followed a Cottrellian behavior and the diffusion coefficient of saccharose was found in agreement with the values obtained from CV measurements.

  • We have examined conduction properties and electrochemical properties of MCMB 6-28 and MPCF 3000. As results, electrical conductivity of carbon decreased with increasing the number of intercalated lithium ion. MCMB and MPCF showed reversible redox reaction, and the potentials of the oxidized and reduced peaks were 0.3V and 0V, respectively. First discharge capacity of MCMB was 190㎃f/g and that of MPCF was 220㎃h/g. MPCF has good properties for lithium secondary battery.

  • In the previous paper of the series of researches on the graphitic properties of anthracites, authors have already reported the results on the electrical specific resistance measurements for Korean anthracites in order to develope a simple methods which differentiate graphite from anthracite. In this paper, the X-ray diffraction method and oxidation have been applied and compared with the results which were obtained by the specific resistance measurements in the previous paper. It has been confirmed that there is a parallel relation between the value of specific resistance measurement and height of hexagonal peak by X-ray diffraction, but the color reaction due to graphitic acid by oxidation does not show any definite critical points between graphite and anthracite.

리튬이온전지용 주석산화물이 도포된 흑연전극의 싸이클 성능 (The Cycling Performance of Graphite Electrode Coated with Tin Oxide for Lithium Ion Battery)

  • 졸-겔법을 이용하여 주석산화물을 흑연입자 표면에 도포하고 $400-600^{\circ}C$에서 열처리하여 미세결정구조를 갖는 리튬이온 전지용 주석산화물 전극을 제조하였다. 도포 된 주석산화물의 양은 $2.25 wt\%\~11.1 wt\%$로 조절하여 실험한 결과 주석산 화물의 함량에 따라 방전용량이 증가하고 또한 초기의 비가역 용랑도 증가함을 알 수 있었다. 싸이클에 따른 주석 산화물 전극의 방전용량은 propylene carbonate(PC) 계 전해액에서도 초기 싸이클에서 350mAh/g 이상, 30 싸이클 후 에서는 300mAh/g을 나타낸 반면, 표면개질이 되지 않은 흑연전극의 경우에는 140mAh/g의 방전용량을 나타내었다. 충방전 속도를 C/5에서 C/2로 빠르게 했을 때 주석산화물 전극과 흑연전극의 방전용량은 초기 용량의 $92\%,\;77\%$로 각각 나타났다. 이러한 전극 특성의 향상은 주석산화물이 리튬이온과 반응하여 형성된 리튬 옥사이드$(Li_2O)$부동태 피막이 흑연전극의 탈리 현상을 막고 또한 환원된 주석이 흑연입자간의 전기전도를 원활하게 하여 전극의 전류분포를 향상시키기 때문인 것으로 해석되었다.

코팅 피치의 물성제어를 통한 흑연 음극재의 전기화학 성능 향상 연구 (A Study on the Improvement of the Electrochemical Performance of Graphite Anode by Controlling Properties of the Coating Pitch)

  • 천연 흑연의 전기화학적 특성 향상을 목적으로 피치 코팅을 실시하였다. 최적 코팅용 피치의 합성조건을 알아보기 위해 다양한 온도에서 합성된 피치를 코팅하여 음극 특성을 알아보았다. 합성온도가 증가할수록 연화점, 잔탄율이 증가하며 열적 안정성이 높아졌으나, 430 ℃에서는 과한 축합반응으로 NI (NMP Insoluble)가 다량 합성되었다. 높은 열적 안정성으로 표면의 균일도와 코팅 두께가 증가함에 따라 제조된 음극재의 향상된 초기쿨롱효율과 출력특성의 결과를 얻을 수 있었다. 하지만 과한 NI가 함유된 피치로 코팅한 음극재는 코팅이 실시되지 않은 흑연보다 저하된 전기화학 특성을 나타냈다. NI는 분산성이 낮고 열처리 후 구체 형성의 영향으로 불균일한 SEI층 형성에 기인한다는 결과를 얻을 수 있었다. 피치 합성온도를 제어하여 균일한 표면과 적절한 코팅층 형성이 이루어지는 최적 조건을 도출하였다.
