  • It is well known that the low achievement students are easily affected by the ways how the materials are organized and presented. So the studies on trying to find how those students' responses are differed according to the organization or presentation of the materials are necessary. This paper was based on the results of Korean Elementary 3 Grade Students National Diagnosis Assessment on Basic Scholastic Ability in area of mathematics. We analyzed students responses through combining the percents of correct answers with the assessment items. After that, we identified the properties of low achievement students in mathematics and presented some guides which, we thought, are helpful for improvements of mathematics textbooks and teacher guide books.

  • This study was to find science high school students' perception about composing laboratory reports by grade. The instrument to survey the perception of them consisted of the perception about making a lab report, and the effect of compositing laboratory reports on the scientific concept understanding and the scientific inquiry ability. Subjects were 260 students of four science high schools in Seoul metropolitan city and Kyounggi province. Most of science high school students had a little positive perception about compositing lab reports, but they had very positive perception about the effects of it on the scientific concept understanding and scientific inquiry ability. There was the significant difference between grades, because the 10th grade students showed more positive perception toward compositing lab reports than the 11th graders(p<.05). The results suggested that different educational approaches and teaching strategies be needed for science high school students considering grades.

  • Mathematical listening ability(MLA) refers to the capability to listen to speech languages that contain mathematical principles and concepts and understand their meanings, distinguishing it from daily life and listening in other subject classes. In this study, I investigated 834 elementary school students' MLA adapting a MLA survey items. Through the statistical analysis results of the survey, I confirmed that students' MLA had a significant correlation with gender, grade, and school location. Female students' MLA was statistically significantly higher than that of male students. MLA increased with grade and then decreased again in 6th grade. In addition, students' MLA was statistically significant differences according to the location of the school. The results of this study might be used as the basis for follow-up research and development of teaching and learning materials related to MLA.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship among spatial ability, learning styles, visual-perception- recall abiltiy, and the conceptual construction of the earth and moon's motion. Four paper-and-pencil tests were used to measure students' cognitive variables. Spatial ability was measured by Spatial Visualization Test, visual-perception-recall ability was measured by Rey's Figure which also have used to test visual- perception-recall ability of right-temporal lobes, and VVT were used to investigate students' learning styles. further, the test of concept construction was consisted of 15 items about the earth and moon's motion developed by researcher One hundred and twenty-seven 6th-, one hundred and sixteen 7th-, eighty-seven 9th-grade, ninety-three college students were participated in the investigation of the effects of age and learning style on conceptual construction. In the analysis of students' performances, spatial ability, visual-perception-recall ability, and conceptual achievement showed an increasing pattern with grading. In addition, visual learner's conceptual achievement showed a significantly higher score on conceptual test than verbal learner's(p<0.05). The results of the present study supported tile hypothesis that learning styles would differently influence to learning atmospheric concepts by students'learning styles. This study also indicated to be considered the students' spatial ability in learning atmospheric concepts.

  • This study was to find the effects of science activity activating spatial ability on spatial ability and creativity of the elementary school students. The survey was conducted with 30 second grade students in one class of "J" elementary school located in "C" City, Chungcheong-bukdo province. The students were taught with the program of science activity activating the spatial ability. According to the result, the science activity had significantly influence on the improvement of spatial ability of the elementary school students. It had also significantly influence on the improvement of spatial relationship ability. The science activity was also effective in the improvement of creativity, and especially in the subdomain of originality and sensitiveness. The students who has right brain preference showed much more improvement in the spatial ability compared to left brain preference students after science activity class. However there is no difference between the students who had the right brain preference and left brain preference in the creativity.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the degree of interest and application ability in meal management chapters of the middle school students, and to provide basic informations for the improvements of Home Economics curriculum and teaching projects. The subjects were 555 middle school students(275 males, 280 females) in Chunchon area, Kangwon-do. Research data were collected by means of the questionnaire and statistically analyzed by frequency, percentage, standard deviation, t-test, F-test and correlation analysis using SPSS/win. The results of this study were summarized as follows: There were significant differences in the degree of interest and application ability according to gender, school years, home economics scholastic achievements, and father's role in preparing meal. The degree of interest and application ability was significantly higher in female than male. First grade students showed more interest and higher application ability than the third year. In general, the higher home economics scholastic achievement was, the higher the degree of interest and application ability was. The more father's role was in preparing meal, the higher student's degree of interest and application ability was. There was significant correlation between the degree of interest and the degree of application ability.(r=0.853, p< .001)

  • The purpose of this paper is to suggest the method the fourth grade who haven't experienced with online project learning can perform the on-line project learning efficiently. And it is to see if there are any effects and improvement in using ICT after applying the online project learning system to the real school environment. For this, after analyzing the curriculum of Grade 4 in elementary school and abstracting some factors to improve the Information utilizing ability, I chose 12 topics of project learning. I built the on-line learning room and chose 6 topics among them. After practicing the project, I inspected the effects on them. And to understand the ICT-utilizing ability of the students, I analyzed if there were any improvement in ICT-utilizing ability with some questionnaires which consist of information collecting, information processing, and information interchanging according to the standards of Information utilizing ability of elementary and middle school students.

  • In the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, talents should not be subordinated to a particular discipline, but must be able to converge a variety of disciplines. It is important to have a fused thinking because elementary school students are likely to make various changes. Therefore, when selecting elementary gifted students, they are selecting students for fusion gifted students. This study examines the effects of creative problem solving ability, document evaluation, and interview factors on student selection when selecting students for gifted students. The results show that creative problem solving ability has the most influence on selection. In the case of the fifth graders, the creative problem solving ability and the document evaluation influence the selection. In fourth graders, the creative problem solving ability and interview affect the selection. In the case of female students, it was found that creative problem solving ability and document evaluation influenced selection. In addition, there was a gender difference in the evaluation of documents in the gender difference analysis. There is no significant difference between the three groups in the grade-by-grade difference analysis.

  • The purpose of the study was to investigate the effect of emotional intelligence and career preparation behavior on self-directed learning ability in high school girls. Data were collected by self-reporting questionnaires from 231 high school girls in May, 2019. Collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression using SPSS/WIN 23.0 program. The result showed that self-directed learning ability was positively correlated with emotional intelligence(r=.560, p<.001) and career preparation behavior(r=.232, p<.001). Enter multiple regression revealed emotional intelligence(β=.515, p<.001), grade 'average'(β=.376, p<.001), grade 'good'(β=.274, p<.001) and career preparation behavior(β=.128, p<.05) to be significant predictors of self-directed learning ability. These variables accounted for 44.0% of self-directed learning ability. The result of this study suggest that emotional intelligence and career preparation behavior be considered when developing strategies to increase self-directed learning ability in high school girls.
