단독계통의 주파수 제어를 위한 자동발전제어(AGC) 특성 분석 및 새로운 제어전략 (Evaluation of AGC Characteristics and a Novel AGC Control Strategy for Independent Power Systems)

  • One of the roles of AGC is to regulate the frequency of power systems. AGC is also used to control the frequency of Korean Power System. AGC control strategies depend on system characteristics and the requirements of the systems to which those are applied. Korean Power System consists of one control area and does not have tie-lines. In this research, an AGC control strategy is suggested to avoid conflict with governor dynamics and to enhance frequency recovery It shows good performance for regulation and frequency recovery. This control strategy is expected to be applied to New EMS in KPX to get reasonable AGC regulation and frequency recovery performance.

  • Although smoke emitted from ships is not included in IMO(International Maritime Organiztion) regulation yet, it is one of the substance what is polluting mainly the air. Especially, its concentration is very high when an engine is started and a load is rapidly changed. This is caused by unburned fuel what is injected more than necessary quantity after combustion period. It is possible to decrease smoke concentration emitted at starting engine by controlling fuel injection quantity, but it is concerned that time to rated speed must be spent. Then a governor what can reduce the smoke concentration without a loss of time to rated speed is needed. We adopted a electro-hydraulic governor what can control dual fuel start limit function and achieved very low level of smoke concentration without greater the loss of time to rated speed.

  • AGC is widely used to regulate the frequency of power systems. It is also used to control the frequency of Korean Power System. Control strategies depends on systems to which it is applied. Korean Power System consists of one control area and it has no tie-line. In this research, we have developed a simulation tool to confirm AGC dynamics. The developed tool has been verified by two-machine three-bus system. Moreover an AGC control strategy has been suggested to avoid contradiction with governor dynamics. Low pass filter with relatively long time constant showed good regulation performance. This simple strategy is expected to be applied to New EMS in KPX to get reasonable AGC regulation performance.

  • This paper presents a energy function to reflect the control effect of speed governor which has a cut-off property which means position and rate limit The proposed energy function satisfies the semi-negativeness of its time derivative and well reflects the parameters of speed governor to the energy function. The transient stability analysis by the direct method for the single machine infinite bus system has been conducted with the use of the proposed energy function, which shows that the results by the direct method well agree with that by the conventional time simulation method. This thesis shows a possibility of more accurate stability analysis by taking into account the cut-off property of speed governor's output.

원자력 발전소 고압터빈의 교축여유(Throttle Margin) 최적화 연구 (Study on Optimization of Throttle Margin in High Pressure Turbine of Nuclear Power Plant)

  • In the present study, optimization of throttle margin for high pressure turbine to be retrofitted or partially modified for power uprating or life extension in nuclear power plant, has been performed to increase the electrical output. Throttle margin for high pressure turbine is required to maintain all the time the rated power by opening more of governor valves whenever inlet pressure is decreased due to the tube plugging of steam generator. If throttle margin of high pressure turbine is too much compared to remaining lifetime, loss of electrical output due to pressure drop of governor valves is inevitable. On the contrary, if it is too little, the rated power operation can not be accomplished when inlet pressure of high pressure turbine is dropped after many years operation. So, throttle margin for high pressure turbine in nuclear power plant is compromised considering for the degradation of steam generator, governor valve capacity, manufacturing tolerance of high pressure turbine, future plan of power uprating, and remaining lifetime of power plant.

내고장성 디지털 조속기의 신뢰도 평가 및 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on Reliability Analysis and Development of Fault Tolerant Digital Governor)

  • 본 논문에서는 제어 시스템의 신뢰도를 높이고 중단없는 제어 동작을 실현하기 위하여 제어기를 삼중화한 내고장성 디지털 조속기를 설계하였으며, 이 시스템을 Markov process로 모델링하여 신뢰도를 해석하였다. 임무시간에서 삼중화 시스템은 단일 제어기 시스템에 비해 신뢰도 86[%]수준에서 약 1.8 배, 95[%]수준에서 약 2.8배, 99[%]수준에서 약 6배 증가함을 확인하였다. 또한 북제주 화력 발전소의 터빈 속도제어 시스템을 대상으로 디지털 속도제어 시스템을 설계하였으며, 설계된 디지털 속도제어 시스템의 유효성을 입증하기 위해 모의실험을 행하였다.

  • 도시가스 지역 정압기의 안전훈련을 가상현실을 이용하여 수행할 수 있도록 시스템을 구성하였다. 이 시스템을 이용해서 일반인들을 대상으로 설문조사를 진행하였고 시스템에서 조작 컨트롤러가 사용자에게 많은 부분 영향을 끼치는 것임을 알 수 있었다. 이에 따라 기존의 조이스틱을 통한 도시가스 정압기 안전훈련 시스템을 오큘러스 터치를 이용해서 훈련을 수행할 수 있도록 재구성하여 같은 설문조사를 진행하였다. 이 두 조사 결과를 통해서 가상현실을 이용한 안전훈련 시스템에서 조작 컨트롤러의 중요성을 확인 할 수 있었다.

  • Tidal power is one of new and renewable energy sources. The seawater is stored inside a tidal embankment built at the mouth of a river or bay, where tides ebb and flow. The water turbine-generators produce power by exploiting the gap in the water level between the water outside and inside the embankment. Tidal power plant is a large plant that is installed on the sea. And then, the facility's operations and a separate control system for monitoring and maintenance is required. However, this plant predictive control of building systems and technologies have been avoided the transfer of technology from advanced global companies. Accordingly, the control system for core technology development and localization is urgently needed. This paper presents modeling and simulation using by PSS/E about generator, governor, exciter, and power system stabilizer for control system in Sihwa tidal power plant to improve the efficiency and develope of core technology. And the dynamic characteristics of governor and exciter were analyzed.

Decentralized Load-Frequency Control of Interconnected Power Systems with SMES Units and Governor Dead Band using Multi-Objective Evolutionary Algorithm

  • This paper deals with the design of decentralized controller for load-frequency control of interconnected power systems with superconducting magnetic energy storage units and Governor Dead Band Nonlinearity using Multi-Objective Evolutionary Algorithm. The superconducting magnetic energy storage unit exhibits favourable damping effects by suppressing the frequency oscillations as well as stabilizing the inter-area oscillations effectively. The proposed control strategy is mainly based on a compromise between Integral Squared Error and Maximum Stability Margin criteria. Analysis on a two-area interconnected thermal power system reveals that the proposed controller improves the dynamic performance of the system and guarantees good closed-loop stability even in the presence of nonlinearities and with parameter changes.

  • 기력발전소의 부하추종성능의 향상은 계통의 전력품질에 지대한 영향을 미치기 때문에 이를 위해서는 먼저 보일러, 터빈, 조속기 시스템과 제어알고리즘에 대한 분석이 필히 선행되어야 한다. 기력발전설비는 다양한 제어가구들 에 의해 운영되고 있고 조속기가 고장 난 경우에는 문제를 해결하는데 많은 시간이 필요하여 발전설비를 정지하지 않고서는 메커니즘 정비가 불가능하다. 계획되지 않은 발전시스템의 정지는 전력발전의 감소로 인해 경제적인 문제뿐만 아니라 전력공급의 차질에 지대한 지장을 주기 때문에 충분히 고려할 사항이다. 본 논문에서는 표준석탄화력 500MW 발전설비 ( 삼천포화력발전소 )에 있어서 계통주파수가 과다하게 장시간 저하될 경우에 기력발전기 제어특성이 나빠져 발전기의 출력이 저하되는 데 이에 대한 현상을 추이분석과 함께 제어로직의 분석 및 개선을 통해 계통 주파수가 저하되는 것을 방지하였고 이에 대한 사례를 소개한다.
