  • Related with the mathematics gifted children the situation of different case studies is the research which is limited in mathematics problem solving process of the most mathematics gifted children. The research which it sees hereupon observes from the scope which is wider the quality of the mathematics gifted children, before the hazard mathematics gifted children whom it sees enter into the mathematics gifted children education center unit life and life after studying living and dismissal of a class from the general school, namely for their general life it leads compared to attitude it observes the reporter it does a quality. For a what kind of interest in the mathematics gifted children, the research leads the family or general class, from the gifted children education center it has it considers encouragement, map and to give a help to good mathematics gifted children education activation, it does. It will reach and to respect with afterwards it set a same three research problem. First, before entering into the mathematics gifted children education center, are the mathematics gifted children what kind of quality? Second, Are the mathematics gifted children what kind of quality for general school hour? Third, Are the mathematics gifted children what kind of quality after dismissal of a class after hour? Being selected in the hazard gifted children education center which solves an up research problem, simple characteristic and approach ease characteristic, by the condition of the permission possibility back it selected 2 person gifted children school boxes which are coming and going. And, before entering into these mathematics gifted children education center, studying life from the general school, life after dismissal of a class it will extend at 1 years, various recording it will ask and it collected direct observation and interview it led against their quality it analyzed. It shared the result which it analyzes with emotional quality, studying conduct qualities, general qualities of the mathematics gifted children and qualities of mathematics gifted children parents. Studies level of the mathematics gifted children parents high facility when them are young from, the interest and helping out which it has were considerable, to advance with the direction where in order for always with great disaster them are proper the map it did. In general quality of the mathematics gifted children from young age the ability which finds a language and a possibility concept superiorly the ability which expresses the thought of oneself logically was superior, the competitive spirit was high, it liked it came reading, a leader role, to reveal a deepening school with the fact that it comes and goes. Also it will burn with their studying conduct quality and it will roll and it did deeply and it arranged knot eagerly, accomplishing which is superior from the field which is various it showed, the originality was superior, the subject attachment power was high quite, oneself it studies it has a devotion the possibility of knowing it was. And, the social characteristic of the friends and is good with their emotional quality and it does there is own reflection and an encouragement at any time and also a confidence, but just as good as the stress also it receives the possibility of knowing it was to him.

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the behavioral characteristics of gifted children at Mathematics. In order to do this, we observed 4 gifted children at mathematics as participants who are participating in education program of science education center for gifted youths in some university, and we collected related materials. As a result of analyzing materials, we found the followings: First, although the gifted children are self-confident of their mathematical talent, they don't affirm easily that they have the gifted nature. Second, the gifted children have various fields of interest. Especially, they read a mount of books. Third, they are motivating for themselves and have good moral judgment.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the strength and weakness of the intelligences appeared by the profile of the multiple intelligences of gifted children in mathematics. The subjects of this study were 80 students from D-Education Center for Gifted Children in Korea. Their multiple intelligences were measured by the self-scaling test of Korean-Multiple Intelligence Development Assessment Scale, in July 2006. The conclusions of this study are as follows: First, the strengths of multiple intelligences of the gifted children in mathematics are in logical-mathematical intelligence, intrapersonal intelligence and interpersonal intelligence. And, the weakness of multiple intelligences of the gifted in elementary mathematics is in bodily-kinesthetic intelligence. Second, formal educational curriculum of the gifted in elementary mathematics is required which can stimulate all kinds of intelligences.

  • The purpose of this paper is to compare affective characteristics of mathematically gifted children and average students, by analying self-tests of self-efficacy and attitudes about mathematics. we survey 109 children from Mathematically Gifted Education Institutes located in Busan, and students from 6 elementary schools, each two graded A, B, and C, where schools graded A and B refer to so-called schools with concurrent and general classes and C schools with, semi-special and special classes ones. Those schools are determined through the consideration of geographical, cultural, and environmental conditions of 48 elementary schools under Seobu Educational Office, Busan Metropolitan City. From each of the six schools, a 5th-grade class is selected. That is, 205 students from 6 classes are finally selected. Results of the study can be described as follows. First, mathematically gifted children score higher on whole attitudes about mathematics and interest, preference, and confidence in each subarea than children from schools whose location is classified as A, B, and C. Irrespective of genders, mathematically gifted children are scored higher in the whole attitudes about mathematics than children from schools classified as A, B, and C. Second, mathematically gifted children are higher in score for self-efficacy than children from schools graded A, B, and C. Regardless of gender, mathematically gifted children are scored higher in self-efficacy than other groups of children. But mathematically gifted children's score is not significantly higher than that of children form schools graded A.

  • According to the mathematics educational practice and research about gifted children in some secondary schools in China, the paper presented some relevant problems: 1. Missing or mistaken selecting in gifted children in China. It included the limitations of identifying standard and the fault of understanding and doing in practice, administration disturbance and emotional inclination. 2. Backward traditional mathematics teaching in gifted children in China. It included lower teaching starting point, slower teaching planned speed, simpler teaching contents and so on. The paper analyzed the problems, and made enlightenment for gifted children's mathematical teaching strategies: raising starting point of contents; emphasizing essential principles and skills; using flexible teaching methods; encouraging discover and creativity and developing harmoniously psychological level and mathematical ability. As to these strategies, some detail measures were offered as well.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the strength and weakness of intelligences appeared by the profile of multiple intelligences of the mathematical gifted children and their parents. The subjects of this study were 73 students and 73 their parents from D-Education Center for Gifted Children. Their multiple intelligences were measured by a self-scaling test of Korean-Multiple Intelligence Development Assessment Scale, at July in 2009. The conclusions of this study are as follows: The strengths of multiple intelligences of the gifted children in mathematics are logical-mathematical intelligence, intrapersonal intelligence. And, the weakness of multiple intelligences of the gifted in elementary mathematics is bodily-kinesthetic intelligence. This result is similarly in their parents' self-scaling test of KMIDAS. Therefore, formal educational curriculum of the gifted in elementary mathematics is required which can stimulate all kinds of intelligences.

  • This study investigated the difference of mathematical beliefs between common children and the gifted children, and then the effect of current mathematics gifted education on gifted children's mathematical belief. Gifted children from institution for gifted education and school based gifted classroom, and common children from regular classroom from S-city office of education in Gyenggi province were studied for this study. The results of this study was as follows. First, there was positive correlation between mathematics performance and mathematical belief. Second, common children and gifted children had significant difference in the degree of mathematical belief. And also, mathematically gifted students had much stronger and positive mathematical belief than common students before starting gifted education program. Third, there was no significant difference in common children and gifted children on the mathematical belief after they receive gifted education, but there were negative changes in gifted children from institution for gifted education on the mathematical belief after receiving gifted education.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the sex role identity of children who are gifted in mathematics and sciences. In order to investigate the sex role identity types, Korean Sex Role Inventory was administered to 192 gifted and 128 normal children in elementary schools. The research findings are the followings: 1. There was no statistically significant difference in the sex role identity types between gifted boys and gifted girls. 2. There were statistically significant differences between gifted and normal groups. The gifted children are more androgynous and less undifferentiated than normal group. 3. Gifted boys were higher in androgyny and masculinity than the normal group. Gifted girls showed the same pattern.
