  • We discovered that definition of a Geometrical Progression(Sequence) have some differences in domestic textbooks & some foreign countries' books. This will be able to cause a chaos when students divide whether a sequence is a Geometrical Progression(Sequence) or not, and a question error when teachers compose questions about convergence conditions of Infinite Geometric progressions & series. We took a question investigation for students about definition of a Geometrical Progression(that is called G. P.), we discovered that high level students have an error about definition of a G. P.. So We modified expressions of terminology in domestic textbooks appropriately through a Geometrical Progression(Sequence), infinite series, & infinite geometrical series in some foreign countries' books.

  • Among different geometrical representations of a mathematical concept, learners are likely to form their geometrical concept image of the given concept based on a specific one. A learner's image is not always in accord with the definition of a concept. This can induce his or her errors in mathematical problem solving. We need to analyse types of such errors and the cause of the errors. In this study, we analyse learners' geometrical concept images for geometrical concepts and errors related to such images. Furthermore we propose a theoretical framework for error analysis related to a learner's concept image for a general mathematical concept in mathematical problem solving.

  • In the designs of the sensitive electronic devices such as phase sensitive detector, X-ray diffractometer, and neutron diffractometers, we must take into account the geometrical factors in a coil systems and extraneous stray fields. Input wave forms in such a sensitive electronic devices are often altered by the influence of these factors. Since the magnitude of the stray fields is generally very small, this affection may be removed by applying a good shielding but it is not ease to remove the affection from a geometrical factor. This affection must be however calculated by the theoretical methods and analytical solution in the equation of these factors. The fundamental purpose of this paper lie in the theoretical calculations and practical measurements of the geometrical factor in the coil systems, finite solenoid, and four point prove. In the heoretical calculations, the geometrical factors in the coil systems were calculated by applying the elliptic functions and in the contact points were calculated by applying the elliptic functions and in the contact points were calculated by applying the eigen functions and the infinite series. The measurements were carried out by using the sensitive electronic device made from author's design, as shown in the Fig. 9. The result of this work has verified the essential correctness of theoretical investigations and measuring techniques of geometrical factors on the design of sensitive electronic devices. It also has several advantages such that: (1) all the data obtained may give effective data to designer to work on the field of sensitive electronic devices or microelectronic devices, (2) it has evidently explained the characteristics of electrical investigations and physical definition, and has removed the conventional error of geometrical factors in the coil systems and contact points.

  • This paper presents a variation method of the parent ship using sectional area curve & the definition of NURBS curve. That is, global variation of the hull form is made systematically by the geometrical property of sectional area curve, and Local variation of the hull form is executed by the definition of NURBS curve. Then the designer may determine New hull form considering New section area curve, design condition, etc.

  • The existing experimental data related to the turbulent mixing factor in rod arrays is examined and a new definition of the turbulent mixing factor is introduced to take into account the turbulent mixing of fluids with various Prandtl numbers. The new definition of the mixing factor is based on the eddy diffusivity of energy. With this definition of the mixing factor, it was found that the geometrical parameter, ${\delta}_{ij}/D_h$ correlates the turbulent mixing data better than Sid, which has been used frequently in existing correlations. Based on the experimental data for a highly turbulent condition in square rod arrays, a correlation describing turbulent mixing dependent on the parameter ${\delta}_{ij}/D_h$ has been developed. The correlation is insensitive to the Re number and it takes into account the effect of the turbulent Prandtl number. The proposed correlation predicts a reasonable mixing even at a lower S/d ratio.

  • The drop handle in the Chosun-Dynasty played a role lifting up the cabinet and box which was attached to and besides this had the decoration function. The scope of this study should include the drop handles from the $18^{th}$ century up to now by investigating and analyzing their definition & function and furthermore the types of their designs. The object of the study was the drop handle having 2 golden fixing parts which are definitive difference from ring or loop, and the design typology of drop handle was concentrated on the handle part, and it can be classified in two types. The one is the figuration of bow, bat, bamboo, fish and bird and so on from the motive of nature on the handle part, and the other one is the drop handle of the simple ㄷ-shape, the temple-symbol shape or geometrical forms. According to the analysis of relics & literature from the past it was found that there were more quantitative nature-motive figurations than the geometrical forms. The nature-motive figurations were again classified in box-, bat-, cloud- bamboo-, fish- and bird-type, and the geometrical forms in ㄷ-shape, the temple-symbol shape and others. The cases applied to furniture are roughly divided into the front-attached type and the side-attached type. In comparison of the drop handle in the Chosun-Dynasty with that of modern times, ㄷ-shape and bow-type keep the long tradition of the drop handles despite of the constructive change partly. Ring-type is similar to the just ring or loop of the part and drop handle with one golden fixing part, while the knob-type shows almost same forms in the past as well as in the modern times. Which type among handles in the modern times has little connection with the past is the reclaimed type, and it was showed in the Chosun-Dynasty and also is showed up to now identically that the man-made hole on the front side of the drawer for the function as handle.

  • It has been considered that 'exhausted eclipses' (日食旣) were total eclipses. However, modern precise calculations show that a significant fraction of such records are not realized to be total. Thus we doubt that the two concepts are equivalent. Here we investigate the meaning of 'exhausted eclipses' in the east-Asian history. We first find that eclipses of magnitude greater than 0.8 were regarded as 'exhausted eclipses' by a Korean astronomer of the 18th-century Choson dynasty. His notion was based upon the definition of 'exhausted eclipses' in the ephemerides of pre-modern Chinese dynasties. According to those ephemerides, the 'exhausted eclipses', whose magnitude is greater than 0.8, have the first contact at the western part of the solar disk and the fourth contact at the eastern part of the solar disk. A simple geometrical calculation shows that such cases really occur when the magnitude of eclipse is greater than 0.7. We pointed out that such an ancient definition might not be impractical for ancient astronomers, because the uncertainty of eclipse magnitude estimated by ancient Chinese ephemerides was 10% and the human sight has a spatial resolution of 1.2 arcmin, which is approximately one twentieth of the Sun's angular diameter.

  • The effect of the initial imperfections on the nonlinear behaviors and ultimate strength of the thin-walled members subjected to the axial loads, obtained by the finite element stability analysis, are examined. As the initial imperfections, the bucking mode shapes of the members are adopted. The buckling mode shapes of the thin-walled members are obtained by the transfer matrix method. In the finite element stability analysis, isoparametric degenerated shell element is used, and the geometrical and material nonlinearity are considered based on the Green Lagrange strain definition and the Prandtl-Reuss stress-strain relation following the von Mises yield criterion. The U-, box- and I-section members subjected to the axial loads are adopted for numerical examples, and the effects of the initial imperfections on the nonlinear behaviors and ultimate strength of the members are examined.

  • Actually, Cyberpunk is a compound word joined by cybernetics, which was used in control theory, and punk, was symbolized as anti-culture. Today, however, the definition of the term has been extended by various fields, used in many meanings. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to apply the Cyberpunk concepts to understand today s fashion because understanding of the present fashion is a means to interpret our culture. For this purpose, the phenomenon of Cyberpunk in fashion was subdivided into three factors material, color, and style. The results of the study were as follows : First, the materials used were techno material, special print by computer for future feeling and geometrical pattern, optical pattern to improve visual effects. Second, the colors mainly used were silver, black and white, bright color, and off-color of computer animation to present future-oriented feeling. Third, the general styles used were fit and slim, simple and liner, dualistic style to express future s image. In conclusion, the phenomena of Cyberpunk in fashion were expressed in material, color and style of fashion. Cyberpunk fashion was evident in T-shirts, sweaters, jackets, or as items of ornamentation such as pins, pendants, belts, and earrings, etc.
