  • This research was conducted to comprehend the effects of computer games on the development children's visual perception. First, the effects of experience of computer games on children's visual perception abilities was analyzed. Second, the effects of different types of computer games on children's visual perception abilities were examined. And third, the interaction effects of sex and computer game types were examined. The subjects of this study were 78 5-year-olds engaging public kindergarten located in Cheung-Ju. To analyse data, percent, mean, standard deviation, and ANCOVA were used. The results showed that children's visual perception abilities were improved significantly with the experience of computer games. And the improvement of children's visual perception varied significantly according to the type of computer game. No interaction effects were found between a child's sex and the types of computer games.

  • In this study, acquired time series Landsat TM/ETM+ image to extract land surface temperature for wide-area region and executed geometric correction and radiometric correction. And extracted land surface temperature using NASA Model, and I achieved the first correction by perform land coverage category for study region and applies characteristic emission rate. Land surface temperature that acquire by the first correction analyzed correlation with Meteorological Administration's temperature data by regression analysis, and established correction formula. And I wished to improve accuracy of land surface temperature extraction using satellite image by second correcting deviations between two datas using establishing correction formula. As a result, land surface temperature that acquire by 1,2th correction could correct in mean deviation of about ${\pm}3.0^{\circ}C$ with Meteorological Administration data. Also, could acquire land surface temperature about study region by relative high accuracy by applying to other Landsat image for re-verification of study result.

  • For a weighting method to be practically valid, it should produce weights which coincide with the relative importance of attributes perceived by the decision maker. In this paper, 'bootstrapping' is used to compare the practical validities of five weighting methods frequently used; the rank order centroid method, the rank reciprocal method, the rank sum method, the entropic method, and the geometric mean method. Bootstrapping refers to the procedure where the analysts allow the decision maker to make careful judgements on a series of similar cases, then infer statistically what weights he was implicitly using to arrive at the particular ranking. The weights produced by bootstrapping can therefore be regarded as well reflecting the decision maker's perceived relative importances. Bootstrapping and the five weighting methods were applied to a job selection problem. The results showed that both the rank order centroid method and the rank reciprocal method had higher level of practical validity than the other three methods, though a large difference could not be found either in the resulting weights or in the corresponding solutions.

  • In this paper, we present a novel algorithm for image-based maritime obstacle detection using global sparsity potentials (GSPs), in which "global" refers to the entire sea area. The horizon line is detected first to segment the sea area as the region of interest (ROI). Considering the geometric relationship between the camera and the sea surface, variable-size image windows are adopted to sample patches in the ROI. Then, each patch is represented by its texture feature, and its average distance to all the other patches is taken as the value of its GSP. Thereafter, patches with a smaller GSP are clustered as the sea surface, and patches with a higher GSP are taken as the obstacle candidates. Finally, the candidates far from the mean feature of the sea surface are selected and aggregated as the obstacles. Experimental results verify that the proposed approach is highly accurate as compared to other methods, such as the traditional feature space reclustering method and a state-of-the-art saliency detection method.

  • A parametric study was conducted on pressure drop in a catalytic converter for automobile. In this work, we proposed a new pressure drop relation which contains the various parameters needed to calculate and got a few results. In a monolith of catalyst, the flow originally turbulent flow changes to laminar flow and thus the pressure drop through the monolith is linearly proportional to the velocity. The exhaust pressure is doubly affected by the increase of mean velocity and length when we decrease the diameter of monolith while the volume keeps constant. Theoretical parameters such as $\alpha$ and $\beta$ are suggested to use as a reference value when there is no a experimental data. Especially in the part load test, these values should be modified to consider the property change of exhaust gas.

  • Although the study of the limit points of discrete groups of M$\ddot{o}$bius transformations has been a fertile area for many decades, there are some very natural topological properties of the limit points which appear not to have been previously examined. Let $\Gamma$ be a nonelementary discrete group of hyperbolic isometries acting on the Poincare disc $B^m, m \geq 2$, and let $p \in \partial B^m$ be a limit point of $\Gamma$. By a neighborhood of p, we will always mean an open neighborhood of p in $\partial B^m$.

  • On the framework of the 2-adic group $\mathcal{Z}_2$, we study a Sobolev-like inequality where we estimate the $L^2$ norm by a geometric mean of the BV norm and the $\dot{B}_{\infty}^{-1,{\infty}}$ norm. We first show, using the special topological properties of the $p$-adic groups, that the set of functions of bounded variations BV can be identified to the Besov space ˙$\dot{B}_1^{1,{\infty}}$. This identification lead us to the construction of a counterexample to the improved Sobolev inequality.

  • It has been shown that the geometric mean A#B of positive definite Hermitian matrices A and B is the maximal element X of Hermitian matrices such that $$\(\array{A&X\\X&B}\)$$ is positive semi-definite. As an extension of this result for the 2 × 2 block matrix, we consider in this article the block matrix [[A#wijB]] whose (i, j) block is given by the Riemannian geodesics of positive definite Hermitian matrices A and B, where wij ∈ ℝ for all 1 ≤ i, j ≤ m. Under certain assumption of the Loewner order for A and B, we establish the equivalent condition for the parameter matrix ω = [wij] such that the block matrix [[A#wijB]] is positive semi-definite.

  • B. Y. Chen introduced a series of curvature invariants, known as Chen invariants, and proved sharp estimates for these intrinsic invariants in terms of the main extrinsic invariant, the squared mean curvature, for submanifolds in Riemannian space forms. Special classes of submanifolds in Sasakian manifolds play an important role in contact geometry. F. Defever, I. Mihai and L. Verstraelen [8] established Chen first inequality for C-totally real submanifolds in Sasakian space forms. Also, the differential geometry of slant submanifolds has shown an increasing development since B. Y. Chen defined slant submanifolds in complex manifolds as a generalization of both holomorphic and totally real submanifolds. The slant submanifolds of an almost contact metric manifolds were defined and studied by A. Lotta, J. L. Cabrerizo et al. A Chen first inequality for slant submanifolds in Sasakian space forms was established by A. Carriazo [4]. In this article, we improve this Chen first inequality for special contact slant submanifolds in Sasakian space forms.

  • The possibility that liver and kidney function is adversely affected by current levels of environmental exposure to cadmium (Cd) as investigated in adult men and women in the general population in Seoul. From February to August in 2001, blood and morning spot urine samples were collected from 136 not occupationally exposed group (age range 20∼75 years) at 4 survey sites throughout seoul. Liver and kidney function parameters in serum and urine were examined by conventional methods. The questionnaire included factors, i.e. sex, age, smoking, alcohol, diet habit etc. The geometric mean values for Cd in blood (Cd-B) were 1.43 $\mu\textrm{g}$/1, It seemed prudent to conclude that liver and kidney function as not disturbed by the current environmental exposure to Cd in study.
