Tb3-xBixFe5O12(x=0.5, 0.75, 1.0, 1.25)의 자기적 특성 연구 (Magnetic Properties of Bismuth Substituted Terbium Iron Garnet)

  • Sol-gel법을 이용하여 단일상을 갖는 $Tb_{3-x}Bi_xFe_5O_{12}$ 분말 시료를 제조하였으며, 그 결정학적 및 자기적 특성을 x-선 회절법(XRD), 진동 시료 자화율 측정법(VSM), $M\"{o}ssbauer$ 분광법으로 연구하였다. XRD 분석 결과 결정구조는 Ia3d의 공간그룹을 갖는 cubic 구조임을 알 수 있었고, Bismuth의 치환량이 x=0.5, 0.75, 1.0 및 1.25로 증가할수록 격자상수가 각각 $a_0=12.466{\AA},\;12.487{\AA},\;12.499{\AA},\;12.518{\AA}$으로 선형적으로 증가함을 확인할 수 있었다. VSM을 이용한 온도에 따른 자기모멘트 측정 결과 Bismuth의 치환량이 증가하면 $N\'{e}el$ 온도는 증가하며 compensation 온도는 감소함을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 field cooled 조건에서 비정상적인 음의 자화값이 관측되었다. $M\"{o}ssbauer$ 스펙트럼은 4.2 K에서부터 $N\'{e}el$ 온도까지 측정하였으며, 분석 결과 상온에서 모든 시료의 이성질체 이동치의 값은 평균적으로 0.27mm/s로 철의 이온상태가 +3가 임을 확인할 수 있었다.

Synthesis and Luminescence of Lu3(Al,Si)5(O,N)12:Ce3+ Phosphors

  • $Si^{4+}-N^{3-}$ was incorporated into $Ce^{3+}-doped$ lutetium aluminum garnet ($Lu_{2.965}Ce_{0.035}Al_5O_{12}$, $LuAG:Ce^{3+}$) lattices, resulting in the formation of $Lu_{2.965}Ce_{0.035}Al_{5-x}Si_xO_{12-x}N_x$ [(Lu,Ce)AG:xSN]. For x = 0-0.25, the synthesized powders consisted of the LuAG single phase, and the lattice constant decreased owing to the smaller $Si^{4+}$ ions. However, for x > 0.25, a small amount of unknown impurity phases was observed, and the lattice constant increased. Under 450 nm excitation, the PL spectrum of $LuAG:Ce^{3+}$ exhibited the green band, peaking at 505 nm. The incorporation of $Si^{4+}-N^{3-}$ into the $Al^{3+}-O^{2-}$ sites of $LuAG:Ce^{3+}$ led to a red-shift of the emission peak wavelength from 505 to 570 nm with increasing x. Corresponding CIE chromaticity coordinates varied from the green to yellow regions. These behaviors were discussed based on the modification of the $5d^1$ split levels and crystal field surroundings of $Ce^{3+}$, which arose from the Ce-(O,N)8 bonds.

Annealing Temperature Dependence of Magnetic and Optic Properties of Bi:YIG Films Deposited with Aerosol Deposition Method

  • Bismuth-substituted yttrium iron garnet (Bi:YIG, $Bi_{0.5}Y_{2.5}Fe_5O_{12}$) films were deposited with aerosol deposition method and their magnetic and optical properties were investigated as a function of annealing temperature. Since the ceramic films deposited with aerosol deposition method have not a perfect crystal structure due to non-uniform internal stress occurred by mechanical collision during their deposition, the post annealing could be a key process to release its internal stress and to improve its micro structure for optimizing the magnetic and magneto-optic properties of films. The crystallinity of Bi: YIG film was improved with increase of annealing temperature, and the saturation magnetization increased up to 87 emu/cc at $800^{\circ}C$. The Faraday rotation increased up to $1.4deg/{\mu}m$ by annealing at $700^{\circ}C$ around the wavelength of $0.5{\mu}m$. The optical transmittance of the Bi:YIG film was also improved in visible region.

  • The recently published and new results on design and fabrication of magnetophotonic crystals of different dimensionality are surveyed. Coupling of polarized light to 3D photonic crystals based on synthetic opals was studied in the case of low dielectric contrast. Transmissivity of opals was demonstrated to strongly depend on the propagation direction of light and its polarization. It was shown that in a vicinity of the frequency of a single Bragg resonance in a 3D photonic crystal the incident linearly polarized light excites inside the crystal the TE- and TM-eigen modes which passing through the crystal is influenced by Brags diffraction of electromagnetic field from different (hkl) sets of crystallographic planes. We also measured the faraday effect of opals immersed in a magneto-optically active liquid. It was shown that the behavior of the faraday rotation spectrum of the system of the opal sample and magneto-optically active liquid directly interrelates with transmittance anisotropy of the opal sample. The photonic band structure, transmittance and Faraday rotation of the light in three-dimensional magnetophotonic crystals of simple cubic and face centered cubic lattices formed from magneto-optically active spheres where studied by the layer Korringa-Kohn-Rostoker method. We found that a photonic band structure is most significantly altered by the magneto-optical activity of spheres for the high-symmetry directions where the degeneracies between TE and TM polarized modes for the corresponding non-magnetic photonic crystals exist. The significant enhancement of the Faraday rotation appears for these directions in the proximity of the band edges, because of the slowing down of the light. New approaches for one-dimensional magnetophotonic crystals fabrication optimized for the magneto-optical Faraday effect enhancement are proposed and realized. One-dimensional magnetophotonic crystals utilizing the second and the third photonic band gaps optimized for the Faraday effect enhancement have been successfully fabricated. Additionally, magnetophotonic crystals consist of a stack of ferrimagnetic Bi-substituted yttrium-iron garnet layers alternated with dielectric silicon oxide layers of the same optical thickness. High refractive index difference provides the strong spatial localization of the electromagnetic field with the wavelength corresponding to the long-wavelength edge of the photonic band gap.

Al을 치환한 Garnet의 Mössbauer분포 함수 연구 (A Study on Distribution of Mössbauer Spectroscopy in Al Doped Garnet)

  • Sol-gel법을 이용하여 $Y_3$Fe$_{5-x}$Al$_{x}$O$_{12}$ (x = 0.0, 0.25, 0.50, 0.75, 1.0) 분말을 합성하였다. 열시차 중량 분석장치(TG-DTA), x선회절기, 시료진동 자화율 측정기(VSM) 및 Mossbauer 분광기를 이용하여 물질의 결정구조 및 자기적 성질을 연구하였다. $Y_3$Fe$_{5-x}$Al$_{x}$O$_{12}$ 의 결정구조는 cubic이며, 격자상수는 x = 0.0에서 1.0까지 치환되었을 때 12.381부터 12.304 $\AA$으로 선형적으로 감소함을 보였다. Mossbauer spectrum을 13K부터 600K가지 여러 온도에서 측정을 하였다. x=0일 때 Mossbauer spectrum은 2 set으로 잘 구분할 수 있지만 치환량이 증가함에 따라 바깥쪽 팔면체 자리의 선폭이 점점 넓어지는 것을 관측할 수 있다. 이러한 현상은 사면체 자리에 존재하는 Fe$^{3+}$$Al^{3+}$ 이온의 확률적 분포에 따른 것으로 해석된다.

  • Recently, all-solid-state batteries (ASSBs) have attracted increasing interest owing to their higher energy density and safety. As the core material of ASSBs, the characteristics of the solid electrolyte largely determine the performance of the battery. Thus far, a variety of inorganic solid electrolytes have been studied, including the NASICON-type, LISICON-type, perovskite-type, garnet-type, glassy solid electrolyte, and so on. The garnet Li7La3Zr2O12 (LLZO) solid electrolyte is one of the most promising candidates because of its excellent comprehensively electrochemical performance. Both, experiments and theoretical calculations, show that cubic LLZO has high room-temperature ionic conductivity and good chemical stability while contacting with the lithium anode and most of the cathode materials. In this paper, the crystal structure, Li-ion transport mechanism, preparation method, and element doping of LLZO are introduced in detail based on the research progress in recent years. Then, the development prospects and challenges of LLZO as applied to ASSBs are discussed.

Quantum Interference Effects on Optical Amplification and the Index of Refraction in a Four-Level System

  • We construct a four-level system where a metastable state is included in an $Er^{3+}$ Doped Yttrium aluminum garnet (YAG) crystal. Because of the action of the coherent field, the traditional light amplification with inversion can be exhibited with remarkable variation. As a result, we propose a method to achieve the gain equalization by atomic coherence. At the same time, we find that the high index of refraction accompanied by vanishing absorption can also be reached in this model. We also find that a higher index of refraction with zero absorption can be easily obtained when the coherent field is off resonance.

상동광상(上東鑛床)의 큰 규모와 작은 규모의 지화학적(地化學的) 대비연구(對比硏究) (Comparative Study of Geochemistry of the Sangdong Skarn Orebody in a Large Scale and Small Scales)

  • A characteristic mineralogical zonal distribuion is observed in a large scale(whole ore- body) small scales(handy specimens). They show similar chemical variations: most of elements except CaO were supplied by hydrothermal fluids to form skarns. Garnets occuring in the pyroxene-garnet skarn have a wide range of chemical composition ranging from andradite to grossularite, while individual grains of the garnets also show a similar zonation of chemical composition varied between grossularite and andradite. Highly contained Mo-bearing scheelites are generally concentrated in the central part of the Sang- dong skarn orebody. Similarly, some large grains of scheelite show a nice zonation due to different contents of Mo, highly enriched in the core of the scheelite crystal. This geochemical similarity in the large scale and small scales suggests the Sangdong skarn formation was achieved under a certain chemical environment, and detailed studies on a small scale texture could be a clue to understand a whole ore deposit.

Enhancement of Magneto-Optic Figure of Merit of Bi:YIG Films in Blue Wavelengths by La Substitution

  • This paper reports the first success in enhancement of the magneto-optic figure of merit of garnet films in blue wavelengths. The maximum of the absolute value of the Faraday rotation angle observed at about 500 nm for the films with no La substitution shifted toward shorter wavelength as La content increased, that leads the increase of the absolute value of the Faraday rotation angle in the wavelengths shorter than about 480 nm. The optical absorption coefficient at the wavelengths shorter than 500 nm decreased as La content increased. As a result the magneto-optic figure of merit increased in the wavelengths shorter than 470 nm as La content increased and was about two times larger for the film with La content of 0.6 in formular unit compared to that of the film without La substitution. This might be attributed to the shift of the centers of the charge transfer and crystal field transitions by La substitution.

  • 1 차원 자성 포토닉 결정은 원하는 파장에서 큰 페러데이 회전각과 투과율을 얻을 수 있기에 아주 흥미롭다. 두 종류의 유전체 층(S: $SiO_2$, T:T $a_2$ $O_{5}$)을 주기적으로 적층한 구조에, Bi를 다량 치환한 가네트 박막(M:B $i_{1.07}$ $Y_{1.93}$F $e_{5}$ $O_{12}$)을 결함층으로 삽입한 (A/B)$_{k}$ M/(B/A)$_{k}$ 의 구조를 갖는 1차원 자성 포토닉 결정의 자기 광학 특성을 수치해석하였다. 가시광과 적외선 영역에서 1차원 자성 포토닉 결정의 자성체 층의 두께( $d_{M}$ )와 유전체 층의 적층수(k)를 변화시키며, 투과율(T)과 페러데이 회전각($ heta$$_{F}$ ) 및 성능지수(Q)를 조사하였다.
