  • This study was conducted to develop and apply a computer-based multimedia nutrition education program for preschoolers based on the Dick and Carey model of instructional design. The Dick and Carey model included 4 phases: analysis, design, development, and evaluation. The program's instructional goals, objectives, assessment instruments, content, examples, and practice questions with feedback were written in the design phase. To be familiar with the 5 food groups, 'Nutrition exploration' were programmed using Hyperstudio. 'Nutrition exploration' was designed as a five-session, interactive multimedia game, with each session taking about 5 minutes to complete. Nineteen preschoolers, aged 6, volunteered to participate formative evaluation. The effectiveness of the program was examined using a pre-post test design. Participants were recruited by personal contact at the individual preschool education center. The application was carried out during 4 weeks. The results showed that intervention participants significantly increased knowledge between pre-test and post-test. The results support using IMM (interactive multimedia) to disseminate nutrition education to the target population. This research provides the basis for continuing development of computer-based nutrition education materials.

  • There exist a variety of VR(Virtual Reality) contents that have been developed by the use of the latest VR technologies. Unlike the rapid advances in the recent VR devices however, the development of VR based game contents that fully utilize such cutting-edge devices has been lackluster. Using more accessible form of smartphone-based HMDs(Head-Mounted Displays), we compare two popular VR presentation methods(a realistic 3D VR karaoke room and a 360 degree video karaoke room) and analyze their users' immersion and realistic perception. We expect that our study can be utilized as a supporting guideline for future smartphone-based VR content developments.

  • Game engines have the advantage of enabling efficient content production, such as reducing development time, with minimal visual quality guarantees and support for multi-platforms. Recently, game engines have provided various functions that can easily, quickly, and effectively produce immersive content using virtual reality (VR) HMD. Therefore, this study conducts a comparative study on the development environment in VR content production using Oculus Quest 2 HMD, focusing on Unity and Unreal game engines, which are widely used in the content production industry, including games. First, we compare the basic setup process of building a development environment using Oculus Quest 2 HMD and a dedicated controller based on a VR template project that includes the minimum functions and settings provided by each engine. Next, we present a simple experience environment that can interact in a virtual environment and compare the development environment to use a dedicated controller and the process of building a development environment that directly utilizes hands through the hand tracking function provided by Oculus Quest 2. Through this process, we will understand the basic process of building a VR development environment, and at the same time, we will check the characteristics and differences of the engine and use it as a research that can be applied to various immersive content production.

  • Unlike the past, when distributors distributed games through retail stores, they are now selling digital content, which is based on online distribution channels. This study analyzes the effects of eWOM (electronic Word of Mouth) on sales volume of game sold on Steam, an online digital content distribution channel. Recently, data mining techniques based on Big Data have been studied. In this study, emotion index of eWOM is derived by emotional analysis which is a text mining technique that can analyze the emotion of each review among factors of eWOM. Emotional analysis utilizes Naive Bayes and SVM classifier and calculates the emotion index through the SVM classifier with high accuracy. Regression analysis is performed on the dependent variable, sales variation, using the emotion index, the number of reviews of each game, the size of eWOM, and the user score of each game, which is a rating of eWOM. Regression analysis revealed that the size of the independent variable eWOM and the emotion index of the eWOM were influential on the dependent variable, sales variation. This study suggests the factors of eWOM that affect the sales volume when Korean game companies enter overseas markets based on steam.

  • Based on the research of the Public Welfare Games 'Mountaineering LightsUp', which is the main theme of helping the disadvantaged in society, this study uses the questionnaire method to obtain user data, and collects the data by using AMOS analysis for the effect of game interest elements on the experience of players. The results showed that the interesting elements (goal, obstacles, sense of belonging, atmosphere, story, information, and player to player communication) of the game were positively influenced by the experience of the game. And the questionnaire showed that the game still had problems such as playing simple, difficulty, lack of popularity, lack of feedback, and lack of storytelling. This paper also puts forward some proposals for these deficiencies. In future research, the research sample will be expanded, the research content will be improved, and the future Public Welfare Games will be designed and developed.

  • This paper introduces an event modeling and simulation system using behavior trees. The system aims to overcome the limitations of existing fixed, simple scenario-based training content, and to extend the behavior of objects to enable various experience deployments. To achieve this goal, we made specific tasks of behavior trees can change according to users' reaction and developed an adaptive simulation module that can analyze and execute behavior trees that changes at runtime. In order to validate our approach, we applied the adaptive behavior tree simulation to the scenarios in our virtual reality simulation-based fire training system we have been developing and demonstrated the implementation results.

  • This study is the research tendency(2016~2019) on the content and the intelligent information technology. After the IIT emerged as a social topic, related research increased, and interest in VR and AR was the highest. In games, more research has been done on VR and AR. In the case of big data technology, it was a tendency to pay attention to the study of movie contents. Many studies have attempted a technological approach to IIT. With regard to artificial intelligence technology, there were differences by technology and content area, mainly viewed from a legal and institutional perspective.

  • This paper presents a motion-capture-based projection VR system to explore the effectiveness of gamification in improving environmental awareness. We examine the key components of positive and negative VR game content and analyze the impact of individual and cooperative play methods on promoting sustainable behaviors. Our findings are as follows. Firstly, we discovered that the use of positive content in individual play mode was effective in improving awareness of the importance of recycling. Secondly, we confirmed that the use of positive content in cooperative play mode and the use of negative content in individual play mode were each effective in enhancing awareness of the seriousness of environmental pollution. Thirdly, we found that experiencing positive content first, followed by negative content, in individual play mode was effective in increasing interest in the environment. Based on these findings, we determined that adjusting the order of use of positive and negative content is more effective than simply using positive or negative content alone for improving environmental awareness. Moreover, considering the importance of recycling, the seriousness of environmental pollution, and the level of interest in the environment, we confirmed that individual play mode is effective and cooperative play mode can be more effective depending on the measure.
