NPC Control Model for Defense in Soccer Game Applying the Decision Tree Learning Algorithm (결정트리 학습 알고리즘을 활용한 축구 게임 수비 NPC 제어 방법)

  • In this paper, we propose a defense NPC control model in the soccer game by applying the Decision Tree learning algorithm. The proposed model extracts the direction patterns and the action patterns generated by many soccer game users, and applies these patterns to the Decision Tree learning algorithm. Then, the proposed model decides the direction and the action according to the learned Decision Tree. Experimental results show that the proposed model takes some time to learn the Decision Tree while the proposed model takes 0.001-0.003 milliseconds to decide the direction and the action based on the learned Decision Tree. Therefore, the proposed model can control NPC in the soccer game system in real time. Also, the proposed model achieves higher accuracy than a previous model (Letia98); because the proposed model can utilize current state information, its analyzed information, and previous state information.

A Scheme for Efficient Synchronization on Real Time Strategy Games (실시간 전략 시뮬레이션 게임에서의 효율적인 동기화 기법)

  • The command that game users give should be reflected to the game immediately and should be transferred to several objects at once. Also, all game users who participate in game should keep the same progress situation in Real-Time Strategy game. But it takes a certain amount of time to get the command pass to other users, and it is important issue that many commands are synchronized in a short amount of time on server of RTS game. Therefore we propose a scheme for an efficient synchronization based on event locking method on RTS game in this paper. We design and implement the gaming server applying to our proposed scheme. Also, we show efficiency of our proposed scheme by performance analysis in this paper.

  • Educational games offer an opportunity to engage and inspire students to take an interest in every subject material in school. The "fun" obtain when playing games become a trigger for the use of games in learning. However, there are doubts whether the players actually learn while they are having fun. Vidyanusa is an Online Mathematics Education Game being developed by Crayonpedia Education Ecosystem in Indonesia. The learning goal of Vidyanusa is to engage junior high school students in learning mathematics. In this paper, we design the Vidyanusa game material Functions and Relations by using Balanced Design Approach. This approach has three models in succession; the Content Model outlines the purpose of the game, the Task Model maps out the mission, and the Evidence Model outlines student measurement. This paper will then discusses the quality of games produced in term of Usability factor for effective results and objective. The measurement of the game was carried out based on International Standard ISO/IEC 9126-1 FDIS about Software Quality Product.

  • The domestic game industry is diversifying itself in terms of game contents. The existing contents have limits when it comes to satisfy various needs and tastes of users. A scenario which successfully absorbs the players and users of a game may affect the whole game structure. Companies also introduce new contents to seize new customers. Thus, contents are considered more important than the past. Now that companies are able to produce various forms of contents and products out of one specific content, the development of new, user-satisfying contents can affect other fields of the industry. Thus, they are now found in one of the top positions in the business hierarchy. But game developers and experts concentrate more on other factors and environments of games, slowing down the growth of contents development. Therefore, this study focuses more on contents as an essential attribute to game production, especially scenario making. How changing results of a synopsis, as a part of a scenario, affect the preference of game users was the main focus of the study. The result of the study should suggest a positive direction for contents and scenario development.

  • The ultimate purpose of game production is to make a game which satisfy game players and to sell maximum of products. In this paper, we suggest an assessment system model which can evaluate game satisfaction degree quantitatively, for preparing foundations that can make games which the suppliers and demanders of game business want. For it, we computed weight of constituent factors for game with AHP method based on survey, and quantified degree of satisfaction for genre of games to score. Also we analyzed affective factors for game satisfaction by SEM using LISREL software. In result, the greatest affective factor for game satisfaction is fun. For making the game with high degree of satisfaction, we propose that constructive investment and enough technology for fun are needed.

  • In this paper, the prototyping process for developing syllable-initial consonant-based game 'Korean Guards' is described. Users may effectively learn Korean words using alphabetically sequential approaches, but the easiness of access bestowed on the smart environments and game algorithms could be fully utilized for the functional advantages for educational purposes. This functional game is developed on Android OS and the prototypical outcome is shown.

  • The purpose of this study is to design and apply a simple game that can visually experience basic concepts of game mathematics in order to teach game mathematics effectively. To do this, simple games linked with game mathematical theory are to be developed by utilizing the functions provided by Unity so that students could actively learn game mathematics. To demonstrate the plausibility of this approach, "Bouncing Ball Game" was developed to understand the concept of periodicity of trigonometric functions. As a result, students were able to effectively learn how mathematical concepts related to ball movements applied to the game.

  • Due to the fast development of information technology, a variety of edutainment software has been used in the field of business education. One of them is Business Simulation Game that the business game domain and the information technology is definitely associated. A lot of business simulation game have been developed and used for many courses of colleges and corporate training in USA and EU. However, education program based on business simulation game has not been activated in Korea. This paper introduce a business simulation game developed by joint effort of business professors and a software firm for last three years and suggest the method of business education using this business simulation game. First of all, the development process, architecture and procedure of business simulation game are summarized. From a perspective of business education, the effect and advantage of business simulation game, sample syllabus, course outlines, users, missions and evaluation method are also addressed.

Game Fun QA(Quality Assurance) Process and Design to improve user satisfaction (사용자 만족도 향상을 위한 게임 Fun QA 프로세스와 설계)

  • Depending on the size and complexity of the game, interest in game quality control is increasing. The quality of the game can be evaluated through fun and stability tests, and the player's satisfaction varies greatly accordingly. For the quality control of the game, Fun QA is in charge of testing to increase the fun and give satisfaction to the players. In this study, we first looked at software quality improvement techniques and game QA work. And in order to improve game quality, we analyzed Fun QA, which is relatively unstructured compared to Technical QA, which is mainly responsible for stability testing. Based on this, the Fun QA process was proposed and an example of Fun QA design was presented using real games. It is expected that this study will be one of the pillars of the game quality management area pursuing quality improvement by guaranteeing fun. Furthermore, it is expected to help QA workers expand their work area.

  • 디지털 혁명 시대를 살아갈 학생들에게 컴퓨팅 사고력 함양을 위한 소프트웨어 교육은 필수적이다. 특히 게임 소프트웨어를 개발하는 프로젝트 수업은 학생들의 학습 동기를 유발하고, 흥미로운 학습 환경을 제공할 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 게임 프로그래밍에 관한 소프트웨어 교육 연구 사례를 분석하고 시사점을 도출하였다. 이러한 연구가 소프트웨어 교육의 목적에 적합한 게임 프로그래밍 교수학습 방법을 개발하는데 도움을 줄 것이라 기대하기 때문이다.
