  • The objective of the study is to develop a variety of different indices based upon the detailed data obtained through the computer input/analysis program developed recently. Through this new program, all the activities of players can be recorded on a real time basis and they can be analyzed statistically with different types of outputs. Therefore in this research, with the help of the database program, we will develop the indices for teamwork, goal making ability, offense/defense ability, individual player's contribution to the game, and various game related performances.

  • This study evaluated the priority of port development in Korea using game theory. First of all, the study selected residents, users and local governments as the subject of port development and measured total evaluation value with the AHP method. In addition, considering complaint level depending on comprehensive evaluation results and selected alternatives in case of affiliation between evaluating subjects, the study proposed a minimizing evaluation method. Also, compensation depending on the selected alternatives was quantified, with compensation strategy being presented. The findings of this study revealed that Busan port should be taken into consideration first for the port development in Korea, as an environmentally friendly port.

  • This study analyzes the attitudes of users who use the automatic-play function of mobile-games. It also observes changes in different emotions to enjoyment. For the analysis, the Q methodology appropriate for the subjectivity study was used, and it classified two types of attitudes based on the analysis. After the classification, it defined the characteristic of each type based on Lazzaro's theory on classification of fun. Types with high rate of convenience feature dependency utilize automatic-play feature to play games for collecting and growth, and they prefer managing the game outdoors. Another type enjoyed the experience of problem solving through games. They want the process to be a good skill to possess in game-play. There was also a tendency to perceive oneself as the game's character. Both types were responded positively to using automatic-play to play mobile-games. This is expected to be used as important data for game production, leading to usability evaluation for analyzing the emotional sensitivity of mobile game users.

  • This study was conducted to develop and apply a computer-based multimedia nutrition education program for preschoolers based on the Dick and Carey model of instructional design. The Dick and Carey model included 4 phases: analysis, design, development, and evaluation. The program's instructional goals, objectives, assessment instruments, content, examples, and practice questions with feedback were written in the design phase. To be familiar with the 5 food groups, 'Nutrition exploration' were programmed using Hyperstudio. 'Nutrition exploration' was designed as a five-session, interactive multimedia game, with each session taking about 5 minutes to complete. Nineteen preschoolers, aged 6, volunteered to participate formative evaluation. The effectiveness of the program was examined using a pre-post test design. Participants were recruited by personal contact at the individual preschool education center. The application was carried out during 4 weeks. The results showed that intervention participants significantly increased knowledge between pre-test and post-test. The results support using IMM (interactive multimedia) to disseminate nutrition education to the target population. This research provides the basis for continuing development of computer-based nutrition education materials.

  • Experiments were conducted to evaluate the effect of an outdoor-grazed raising model on meat composition, physical properties and sensory attributes of Taiwan game hens. Six hundred 1-d old female chicks were raised on a floor for 8 weeks. On day 57, 600 healthy birds, with similar body weight, were selected and randomly assigned to three treatment groups (cage, floor-pen and free-range). The results showed that different feeding models had no effect on drip loss, cooking loss, moisture, crude protein, crude fat, crude ash, zinc and calorie contents in breast meat and moisture content in thigh meat. The free-range group had the lowest fat content in both breast and thigh meat, and the lowest calorie content in thigh meat. The firmness and toughness in both thigh and breast of the free-range group were the highest values (p<0.05). The crude protein, total collagen, zinc and iron contents in thigh meat and total collagen content in breast meat of the free-range group were significantly higher than those of the cage-feeding group (p<0.05). The meat sensory scores of flavor, chewiness and overall acceptability of both thigh and breast meat of the free-range group were significantly (p<0.05) better than those of the other two groups. Moreover, the current findings also indicate that the Taiwan game hens of the free-range feeding model displayed well-received carcass traits and meat quality, with higher scores for flavor, chewiness and overall acceptability for greater sensory satisfaction in both breast and thigh meat. In addition, the thigh meat contained high protein and total collage but low fat, offering a healthier diet choice.

  • In this paper, we implement a crossword game, which operate by speech. The CAA (Cross Array Algorithm) produces the crossword array randomly and automatically using an domain-dictionary. For producing the crossword array, we construct seven domain-dictionaries. The crossword game is operated by a mouse and a keyboard and is also operated by speech. For the user interface by speech, we use a speech recognizer and a speech synthesizer and this provide more comfortable interface to the user. The efficiency evaluation of CAA is performed by estimating the processing times of producing the crossword array and the generation ratio of the crossword array. As the results of the CAA's efficiency evaluation, the processing times is about 10ms and the generation ratio of the crossword array is about 50%. Also, the recognition rates were 95.5%, 97.6% and 96.2% for the window sizes of "$7{\times}7$", "$9{\times}9$," and "$11{\times}11$" respectively.}11$" respectively.vely.

  • Smoothing is a transmission plan where variable rate video data is converted to a constant bit rate stream. Among them are CBA, MCBA, MVBA and others. However, these smoothing algorithms produce a transmission plan where extra bandwidth in server is not considered. This may cause difficulty in providing videos to many clients in a server. In this paper, we propose the smoothing algorithm with monotonic transmission rate increase and abrupt transmission rate decrease, in order to provide videos to as many clients in server with limited network bandwidth as possible. In order to show the performance of our proposed algorithm, various evaluation factors were used such as the maximum number of clients, the average number of clients, and so on. Experiments demonstrated that the proposed algorithm outperformed other algorithms in evaluation factors such as the maximum number of clients and the average number of clients.

  • Reinforcement learning if a kind of machine learning. It aims to adapt an agent to a given environment with a clue to a reward and a penalty. Q-learning [8] that is a representative reinforcement learning system treats a reward and a penalty at the same time. There is a problem how to decide an appropriate reward and penalty values. We know the Penalty Avoiding Rational Policy Making algorithm (PARP) [4] and the Penalty Avoiding Profit Sharing (PAPS) [2] as reinforcement learning systems to treat a reward and a penalty independently. though PAPS is a descendant algorithm of PARP, both PARP and PAPS tend to learn a local optimal policy. To overcome it, ion this paper, we propose the Multi Best method (MB) that is PAPS with the multi-start method[5]. MB selects the best policy in several policies that are learned by PAPS agents. By applying PS, PAPS and MB to a soccer game environment based on the SoccerBots[9], we show that MB is the best solution for the soccer game environment.

  • The aim this master thesis is to find out if is possible to Integrate haptic hardware support in the source 3D game engine Crystal Space. Integrating haptic support would make it possible to get a haptic representation of 3D geometry in Crystal Space and therefore take advantage of all the benefits a 3D game engine provides, when building haptic applications, An implementation of the support should be as low-cost as Possible by taking advantage of available source haptic API alternatives. The thesis report presents an evaluation of available haptic APIs and comes up with a design and an implementation. The solution has been implemented as a Crystal Space plugin by using modified parts of the e-Touch open module API. The plugin makes it possible to utilize the Phantom haptic device to touch and feel the 3D environments in a Crystal Space application. Two demo applications have also been constructed to show the capabilities of the plugin.
