  • In this paper, we consider generalized concepts of cardinality of a fuzzy sets and obtaind some properties of new concepts of fuzzy-valued cardinality of type 2 fuzzy sets as fuzzy-valued functions. Also, we investigate examples for the calculation of the generalized cardinality of fuzzy-valued functions and compared with concepts of cardinality of a fuzzy set and a fuzzy-valued function.

  • In this paper, we want to represent a method for ranking of two exponential trapezoidal fuzzy numbers. In this study a new Cardinality between exponential trapezoidal fuzzy numbers is proposed. Cardinality in this method is relatively simple and easier in computation and ranks various types of exponential fuzzy numbers. For the validation the results of the proposed approach are compared with different existing approaches.

  • Fuzzy partition is a conceptual vehicle that encapsulates data into information granules. Fuzzy equalization concerns a process of building information granules that are semantically and experimentally meaningful. A few algorithms generating fuzzy partitions with fuzzy equalization have been suggested. Simulations and experiments have showed that fuzzy partition representing more characteristics of given input distribution usually produces meaningful results. In this paper, given two points and cardinality of fuzzy partition, we prove that it is not true that there always exists a fuzzy partition with fuzzy equalization in which two of points having peaks fall on the given two points. Then, we establish an algorithm that minimizes the maximum distance between given two points and adjacent points having peaks in the partition. A numerical example is presented to show the validity of the suggested algorithm.

  • This paper complements the shortcomings of the original edge following algorithm. We propose a new edge following method which exploits the uncertainty residing in fingerprint analysis. Based on fuzzy set theory, the proposed algorithm computes the current local quality of a fingerplinL image by considering two Jocal properties: a relative cardinality of fuzzy set and a local variance. According to the calculated local quality infonnation, we dynamically adopt the appropriate different methods.

  • Fuzzy inference has the advantage which can process the ambiguous knowledge. However the associated attributes of fuzzy rules are difficult to determine useful and important rules because the redundant attribute of rules is more than enough. In this paper, we propose a method to minimize the number of rules and preserve the accuracy of inference results by using fuzzy relative cardinality after removing unnecessary attributes from rough set. From the experimental results, we can see the fact that the proposed method provides better results (e.g the number of rules) than those of general rough set with the redundant attributes.

  • Recently, Szmidt and Kacprzyk[Fuzzy Sets and Systems 118(2001) 467-477] proposed a non-probabilistic-type entropy measure for intuitionistic fuzzy sets. Tt is a result of a geometric interpretation of intuitionistic fuzzy sets and uses a ratio of distances between them. They showed that the proposed measure can be defined in terms of the ratio of intuitionistic fuzzy cardinalities: of $F\bigcapF^c and F\bigcupF^c$, while applying the Hamming distances. In this note, while applying the Euclidean distances, it is also shown that the proposed measure can be defined in terms of the ratio of some function of intuitionistic fuzzy cardinalities: of $F\bigcapF^c and F\bigcupF^c$.
