In this paper we discuss what Competitive Intelligence means, why it is growing in importance in the business world and how Library and Information Science Schools in the United States are responding to the opportunities presented by Competitive Intelligence. As a conclusion, we discuss some of the implications of our findings for Library and Information Science education in Korea.

본 연구에서는 충남도서관이 광역대표도서관으로서 도민의 삶의 질을 향상시킬 수 있는 도서관 서비스를 개발하고, 도내 공공도서관을 종합적이고 체계적으로 지원할 수 있도록 하는 제2차 충청남도 도서관 발전종합계획을 마련하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 제1차 도서관 발전종합계획의 성과분석, 충청남도 도내 도서관의 진단과 분석, 충청남도 정책환경 분석 및 도서관정책 환경전망 분석을 실시했다. 그리고 최종적으로 충청남도 제2차 도서관 발전종합계획의 사명, 비전, 목표, 추진전략 및 실행계획을 제안했다. 먼저, 사명은 '충청남도 도민을 포용하고 미래 지식·문화 가치를 선도한다'로 제안했고, 비전은 '미래의 지식·문화를 이끄는 포용의 공간'으로 제안했으며, 목표는 1) 누구나 즐길 수 있는 차별 없는 도서관 환경 구축, 2) 공동체를 포용하는 도서관 서비스, 3) 지식문화 가치를 실현하는 도서관 운영, 4) 미래를 선도하는 도서관 인프라, 5) 공동체 교류·협력 네트워크 강화의 5가지이다.

Because of the changes made in the modes of cataloguing and classification in its long history, the present catalogue of the National Central Library has become complicated and provides an inadequate guide to its collection. There can be no doubt that this is a serious deficiency in a closed access library since materials housed in the library are virtually inaccessible to unskilled readers. The whole breakdown of the efficiency of the catalogue is emminent and will ultimately create the most serious problems for the library. The main purpose of this survey is: (a) to identify problem areas created by the frequent changes in the cataloguing and classifying principles in the library and (b) to grope a rational direction for the future development. Analysing the various classification schemes and cataloguing rules adopted in processing materials (mainly books) in the library, the following conclusions have been made. A. The library adopted five different clasification schemes in different periods, of which KDCP was used for the most part of its collection. KDCP is recommended to use for the future colletion. A classification development office is recommended to be established within the library, of which the main function is to revise the KDCP in collaboration with the appropriate committee of the Korean Library Association. B. The present practice in the library is to apply three different cataloguing rules and two different author notation tables to the Oriental, classical, and Western collections. Efforts should be made to find out an efficient system so that this variety is simplified. An alphabetical index should be added to the classified catalogue, and improvements are required in the Japanese collection. C. The technical services division is inadequately staffed. The staff should be sufficiently numerous and specially qualified. D. The present financial support for the technical services of the library is inadequate. Sufficient financial provision should be made to ensure the effective work. E. A feasibility study should be carried out to develop a computer processing system for providing machine-readable catalogue records on magnetic tape for use by the library community in Korea.

본 연구에서는 법원도서관의 현재 상황을 분석하고, 미래 지향적인 장서 보존 및 관리를 위한 전략을 제시하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 문헌 분석을 통해 법원도서관 장서와 보존공간 현황 분석을 실시하였다. 이를 기반으로 본 연구에서는 법원도서관 장서의 미래 보존전략을 다음과 같이 세 가지로 대별하여 제시하였다. 첫째, 법원도서관 장서의 장기 보존을 위한 공간 확보, 둘째, 법원도서관 장서의 수집 및 이관 등 및 보존을 위한 체계 구축, 셋째, 법원사, 법률분야 귀중본, 행정자료 등 사법부 특성화 자료의 영구보존 및 이용을 위한 디지털 아카이빙 수행이다. 이를 통해, 법원도서관은 각급 법원 도서실을 포함한 법원도서관의 장서 수장공간 부족 문제를 해결하고, 소장자료를 체계적·효율적으로 보존하며, 도서관 이용을 활성화할 수 있을 것이다.

본 연구에서는 도서관 업무 경험이 문헌정보학과 대학생의 진로에 대한 인식에 미치는 영향에 대해 탐구하고자 한 질적 사례연구이다. 이를 위하여 경기도 수원의 B도서관에서 도서관 서포터즈로 활동하고 있는 학생 19명을 대상으로 하여 진로 목표와 진로선택, 서포터즈 참여 경험, 서포터즈 프로그램에 대한 인식, 서포터즈 프로그램을 통한 진로에 대한 생각의 변화를 파악하기 위해 개별 심층면담을 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 학생들은 도서관 서포터즈 활동이 미래 사서를 위한 준비가 되고 실제 사서업무를 배울 수 있는 매우 의미 있는 활동이라고 인식하고 있었다. 또한 미래 직업을 선택할 때 도서관 업무가 자신과 맞는지 맞지 않은지 미리 판단해 볼 수 있는 좋은 기회가 되는 것으로 나타났다.

우리나라 사서자격제도와 양성 체계는 도서관 주변 환경의 변화와 더불어 도서관법의 제정과 일부 또는 전부 개정 과정을 거치면서 지금에 이르고 있다. 이 연구는 도서관법과 사서직원 등의 자격 제도 및 양성 체계와 관련하여 세부 내용을 조사 분석한 후, 다음과 같이 3가지로 나누어 기술한 것이다. 첫째, 그 변화 추이를 고찰하고, 둘째, 사서자격제도와 시행 효과를 살펴보며, 셋째, 사서자격제도 및 양성 체계상의 문제점을 도출하고, 이에 대한 개략적인 개선 방향을 제시하고 있다.

이 연구는 국내 전문학술지를 통해 국내 도서관마케팅의 도입 시기부터 현재까지 관련연구의 시대적 흐름에 따른 변화와 앞으로의 연구동향을 살펴보고, 향후 도서관마케팅 관련 주제 분야의 연구에 도움이 되는 기초 자료를 제시하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 문헌정보학 분야 전문 학술지인 '한국문헌정보학회지', '한국비블리아학회지', '한국도서관 정보학회지', '정보관리학회지'의 창간호부터 2013년까지 발행된 전체논문 3,951편 중 선택된 키워드로 검색하여 중복된 논문 및 도서관마케팅과 관련이 없는 논문을 제외하고 최종 선정된 359편의 논문을 대상으로 항목별 세부분석을 통해 연구결과를 도출하였다. 이 연구의 결과, 연고별 연구논문 발표추이, 기관별 연구논문 발표추이, 저자별 연구논문 발표추이, 영역별 연구논문 발표추이, 관종별 연구논문 발표추이가 나타났다.

본 연구는 최근 북미지역의 공공도서관 신축과 리모델링을 한 사례들 중에서 우수 건축 및 디자인상을 수상하였거나 우수 사례로 소개된 건축물을 대상으로 건축 경향을 분석하였다. 이를 통해 국내 공공도서관의 신축과 리모델링 과정을 위한 시사점들을 도출하여 향후 개관될 공공도서관 건축의 방향성을 제시하고자 하였다. 총 90곳의 우수 도서관들의 주요 건축적 특징에 대한 내용분석을 통해 여섯 개의 건축 경향을 도출하고 각 건축 경향별로 구체적인 사례들을 검토하였다. 끝으로 본 연구는 도출된 주요 건축경향이 국내 공공도서관 신축 혹은 리모델링 과정에서 시사하는 점들을 제시하고 관련 후속연구를 위해 몇가지 사항들을 제언하였다.

Educational changes of library and information science (L & IS) at Keio university in Japan, standard of L & IS established by Japanese university educational committee, and trend of library science education in three Korean university were comparatively studied. For the efficient conduct of investigation, the art of states of L & IS was also considered. By the influence of American education, public library-oriented Japanese curriculum had changed to special library-oriented curriculum. Late 60's information science was introduced to their curriculum, library science which based upon information science theory endeavor to make its own field in a n.0, pplied science as harmonized library and information science now. Korean library science education begun with university library-oriented curriculum, accepted special library and information science at almost same time in late 60's. It gave rise to many problems to organized systematic library science. Consequently, it have needed to harmonize these two fields in near future, reorganize curriculum based on this harmonized knowledge and acquire the consensus about fundamental essence of library science education further.

본 연구에서는 국내외 특성화 도서관 사례를 조사하고 특성화 정책, 특성화 분야, 특성화 효과 등을 조사하고, 이를 기반으로 향후연구 방향을 제시하고자 하였다. 그 결과, 첫째, 도서관의 특성화 정책은 국내외적으로 추진되고 있는 정책이며, 특히 국내의 경우 1998년에도 단기적으로 추진했던 정책이었고, 13개가 특성화도서관으로 지정되어 그 중 9개가 지금까지도 운영되어 오고 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 둘째, 특성화 유형이나 방향을 보았을 때, 장서 특성화 관련 사례들이 많을 것으로 볼 수 있으며, 지역대표도서관들도 전체 주제분야를 서비스하되 나름대로 특성화 주제를 지정하여 집중적으로 자료 수집 및 서비스를 하고 있는 것으로 조사되었다. 향후 특성화 도서관에 배치될 전문인력의 자격, 자질, 역량 등에 대한 연구가 수행될 필요가 있다고 보며, 특히 이미 특성화된 도서관 이용자들의 만족도 조사, 요구사항 등을 파악하여 이후 특성화를 추진하는 도서관들에게 적용될 수 있도록 해야 할 것으로 보인다.
