  • This paper presents an instantaneous space vector modulated voltage source type three-phase soft-switching PFC rectifier using a single auxiliary resonant DC Link snubber for alternative energy utilizations. in the first place, the operating principle of an active auxiliary resonant DC link snubber circuit is described including its unique features. In the next place, the simulation analysis of three-phase soft-switching PWM rectifier is implemented, and the operating performances or the three-phase voltage-fed PWM rectifier treated here, which can operate under the conditions of sinewave line current shaping and utility power factor are evaluated and discussed on tile basis of this simulation results.

  • We developed a new RF indirect-heating LPE furnace. The thermal gradient of our newly developed furnace is less than that of direct heating, and is as gentle as that of the resistance-heating LPE furnace. With this new furnace, the heating and/or cooling is faster than that of the resistance-heating furnace. Impurity-doped YIG film was grown from a $PbO-B_{2}O_{3}$, based flux on a (111) GGG substrate. To study the effect of the impurities on the MSSW threshold power and the saturation response time, we used two microstrip lines to excite and propagate the MSSW at 1.9 GHz. The MSSW threshold power and saturation response time was found to be related to the $\Delta$H.

  • Cells are constantly exposed to endogenous and exogenous chemical and physical agents that damage their genome by forming DNA lesions. These lesions interfere with the normal functions of DNA such as transcription and replication, and need to be either repaired or tolerated. DNA lesions are accurately removed via various repair pathways. In contrast, tolerance mechanisms do not remove lesions but only allow replication to proceed despite the presence of unrepaired lesions. Cells possess two major tolerance strategies, namely translesion synthesis (TLS), which is an error-prone strategy and an accurate strategy based on homologous recombination (homology-dependent gap repair [HDGR]). Thus, the mutation frequency reflects the relative extent to which the two tolerance pathways operate in vivo. In the present paper, we review the present understanding of the mechanisms of TLS and HDGR and propose a novel and comprehensive view of the way both strategies interact and are regulated in vivo.

  • Land surface hydrological conditions have been considered to play an important role in the global and regional climate variability. Especially, snow, soil moisture, surface temperature, vegetation and rain are the key parameters which should be observed in the global scale. In this paper, new algorithms for these land surface hydrological parameters have been developed by introducing frequency and polarization dependencies of these parameters in the microwave radiative-transfer equations. The algorithms were applied to the TRMM Microwave Radiometer. (TMI) and validated by using the ground data obtained in the Tibetan Plateau. The estimated snow, soil moisture, surface temperature, water content of vegetation and rain patterns corresponded reasonably to the observed ones.

  • A generalization of one machine maximum lateness minimization problem is considered. There are one achine with controllable speed and n weighting jobs $J_{j}$, j=1, 2, ..., n with ambiguous duedates. Introducing fuzzy formulation, a membership function of the duedate associated with each job $J_{j}$, which describes the satisfaction level with respect to completion time of $J_{j}$. Thus the duedates are not constants as in conventional scheduling problems but decision variables reflecting the fuzzy circumstance of the job completing. We develop the polynomial time algorithm to find an optimal schedule and jobwise machine speeds, and to minimize the total sum of costs associated with jobwise machine speeds and dissatisfaction with respect to completion times of weighting jobs. jobs.

  • In this paper, we develop a new system to visualize the blood flow map in skin tissue, using the technique of Laser Speckle Flowgraphy (LSFG). The measuring unit consists of the laser diode, imaging system, line sensor, scanning mirror, and one-board microcomputer. The speckle signal is analyzed and sent to a PC, where the blood flow in a tissue area of $14mm{\times}26 mm$ is evaluated and displayed in a 2-D color map. It is demonstrated that the new LSFG instrument is useful to evaluate the degree of allergic reaction in patch test.

  • In recent years, electronic commerce (EC) business has shown a tremendous growth, which put additional cognitive and time-consuming loads on the human users. Intelligent software agents are one key technology to support users doing real EC-business.We propose an Agent-based Business-to-Business(B2B) Marketplace on Internet, where constituent members cooperate or compete in order to get the best possible deals, with the aim of reducing user loads. In case of B2B deals, the good itself shows a complicated behaviour, e.g.price discounts depending o the lot, discounts for cross-buying and so on. It is impractical to concentrate all the knowledge about the goods and the trading strategies at the buyer/seller side. Instead, we include such information in the good itself, which allow us to model the goods as being agents.

  • The tetrazolium dye, 3-(4, 5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2, 5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT), is reduced by live but not dead cell, and this reaction is used as the end point in a rapid drug screening assay. It can also be used for accurate determinations of drug sensitivity but only if a quantative relationship is established between cell number and MTT-formazan production. Several conditions were examined to devise an in vitro assay method in primary cultured hepatocytes, such as optimum wavelength, optimal MTT concentration, optimal incubation time, and cell density.

  • In this paper, we study the value distribution of the derivative of a Dirichlet L-function $L^{\prime}(s,{\chi})$ at the a-points ${\rho}_{a,{\chi}}={\beta}_{a,{\chi}}+i{\gamma}_{a,{\chi}}$ of $L^{\prime}(s,{\chi})$. We give an asymptotic formula for the sum $${\sum_{{\rho}_{a,{\chi}};0<{\gamma}_{a,{\chi}}{\leq}T}\;L^{\prime}({\rho}_{a,{\chi}},{\chi})X^{{\rho}_{a,{\chi}}}\;as\;T{\rightarrow}{\infty}$$, where X is a fixed positive number and ${\chi}$ is a primitive character mod q. This work continues the investigations of Fujii [4-6], $Garunk{\check{s}}tis$ & Steuding [8] and the authors [12].

  • Carbon nanofiber (CNF)/unsaturated polyester resin (UPR) was prepared by a solvent evaporation method, and the temperature dependency of electrical conductivity was investigated. The CNF/UPR composites had quite a low percolation threshold due to CNF having a larger aspect ratio and being well dispersed in the UPR matrix. The positive temperature coefficient (PTC) was found in the CNF/UPR composites and it showed stronger effect around the percolation threshold. The electrical resistance of the CNF/UPR composites decreased and had lower temperature dependency with increasing numbers of thermal cycles.
