Performance analysis of STTC using time-space coding method appropriate for OFDM System (OFDM System에서 시공간 부호 기법으로 STTC의 성능분석)

  • This paper presents a way to maximize transmission efficiency and reception ability through transmission diversity technology, which can be adapted to wireless multimedia OFDM (orthogonal FDM) system. The presented method gives a comparative analysis between a case where parameter a for time average is 0.3, i with consideration of channel presumption and two types of rms delayed proliferation, which is 50nsec, 150nsec, for the performance analysis of STTC (Space-Time Trellis Code) using time-space code method which is appropriate for MIMO channel, and performance, in the case, where presumed channel value from long training column section is applied to the according frame in a single frame. The result shows that BER brought SNR improvement of 1.0dB in $10^{-3}$ when a was 0.3 than using only the long training column, and shows an increasement of general performance improvement when the time average factor is used.

Efficient Frame Synchronizer Architecture Using Common Autocorrelator for DVB-S2 (공통 자기 상관기를 이용한 효율적인 디지털 위성 방송 프레임 동기부 회로 구조)

  • This paper presents an efficient frame synchronizer architecture using the common autocorrelator for Digital Video Broadcasting via Satellite, Second generation(DVB-S2). To achieve the satisfactory performance under severe channel conditions and the efficient hardware resource utilization of functional synchronization blocks which have been implemented, we propose a new efficient common autocorrelator structure. The proposed architecture can improve the performance of the frame and frequency synchronizer since each block operates jointly in parallel and significantly reduce the complexity of the frame synchronizer. Hence, The proposed architecture can ensure the decrease by about 92% multipliers and 81% adders compared with the direct implementation. Moreover, it has been thoroughly verified with an FPGA board and R&STM SFU broadcast test equipment and consists of 29,821 LUTs with XilinxTM Virtex IV LX200.

Deep Learning based Frame Synchronization Using Convolutional Neural Network (합성곱 신경망을 이용한 딥러닝 기반의 프레임 동기 기법)

  • This paper proposes a new frame synchronization technique based on convolutional neural network (CNN). The conventional frame synchronizers usually find the matching instance through correlation between the received signal and the preamble. The proposed method converts the 1-dimensional correlator ouput into a 2-dimensional matrix. The 2-dimensional matrix is input to a convolutional neural network, and the convolutional neural network finds the frame arrival time. Specifically, in additive white gaussian noise (AWGN) environments, the received signals are generated with random arrival times and they are used for training data of the CNN. Through computer simulation, the false detection probabilities in various signal-to-noise ratios are investigated and compared between the proposed CNN-based technique and the conventional one. According to the results, the proposed technique shows 2dB better performance than the conventional method.

A Study on the Optimal Image Acquisition Time of 18F- Flutemetamol using List Mode (LIST mode를 이용한 18F-Flutemetamol 의 최적 영상획득 시간에 관한 연구)

  • With the development of Amyloid PET Tracer, the accuracy of Alzheimer's diagnosis can be improved through the identification of beta-amyloid neurites. However, the long image acquisition time of 20 minutes can be difficult for the patient. PET/CT scans are sensitive to patient movement and may partially affect test results. In this study, we studied the proper image acquisition time without affecting the quantitative evaluation of the image through the list mode acquisition method according to the time of the distribution of radioactive drugs in the body. The list mode includes information about time compared to the existing frame mode, and it is easy to analyze data because it can reconstruct images about the time that researchers want. The research method obtained a reconstructed image by time using a list mode of 5min frame/bed, 10min frame/bed, 15min frame/bed, and 20min frame/bed to compare the difference between signal-to-pons take ratio (SNR) and lesion-to-pons uptake ratio (LPR) and the difference in reading time to obtain an appropriate image. As a result of quantitative analysis, when measuring in list mode, SUVmean values decreased in 6 regions of interest as the image acquisition time increased, but showed the largest difference in 5 min/bed images, followed by 10 min/bed and 15 min/bed. As a result, the difference in SUVmean values decreased. Therefore, it was found that SUVmean values at 15 min/bed did not differ enough to not affect image evaluation. There was no difference in LPR values. As a result of the qualitative analysis, there was no change in the reading findings according to the PET image acquisition time and there was no significant difference in the qualitative analysis score of the image reconstruction according to time. As a result of the study, there is no significant difference between 15 min/bed and 20 min/bed images during the 18F-flutemetamol PET/CT test, so it can be said that it is clinically useful to reduce the image acquisition time selectively using 15 min/bed via list mode depending on the patient's condition.

  • A new time adapted threshold using the standard deviations of Wavelet coefficients after Wavelet transform by frame scale is proposed. The time adapted threshold is set up using the sum of standard deviations of Wavelet coefficient in level 3 approximation and weighted level 1 detail. Level 3 approximation coefficients represent the voiced sound with low frequency and level 1 detail coefficients represent the unvoiced sound with high frequency. After reducing noise by soft thresholding with the proposed time adapted threshold, there are still residual noises in silent interval. To reduce residual noises in silent interval, a detection algorithm of silent interval is proposed. From simulation results, it can be noticed that SNR and MSE of the proposed algorithm are improved than those of Wavelet transform and than those of Wavelet packet transform.

  • In this paper, a comprehensive design of HBC(Human Body Communication) system for capsule endoscope is presented. First, we propose a method of combining the signals received from multiple patches attached to the body of patient through differential operation and derive the signal SNR mathematically. To synchronize HBC transmission signal sent from capsule, we analyzed coarse timing synchronization method using PN code and fine timing synchronization performance among Manchester, NRZ and RZ modulation method using ZCD(Zero Crossing Detector). In addition, we evaluated the equalization performance of HBC signal frame in Rician and Rayleigh channel environments by applying LMS and RLS algorithm.

Reference Channel Input-Based Speech Enhancement for Noise-Robust Recognition in Intelligent TV Applications (지능형 TV의 음성인식을 위한 참조 잡음 기반 음성개선)

  • In this paper, a noise reduction system is proposed for the speech interface in intelligent TV applications. To reduce TV speaker sound which are very serious noises degrading recognition performance, a noise reduction algorithm utilizing the direct TV sound as the reference noise input is implemented. In the proposed algorithm, transfer functions are estimated to compensate for the difference between the direct TV sound and that recorded with the microphone installed on the TV frame. Then, the noise power spectrum in the received signal is calculated to perform Wiener filter-based noise cancellation. Additionally, a postprocessing step is applied to reduce remaining noises. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm shows 88% recognition rate for isolated Korean words at 5 dB input SNR.

  • This paper introduces a vision-based on-line fabric inspection methodology of woven textile fabrics. Current procedure for determination of fabric defects in the textile industry is performed by human in the off-line stage. The advantage of the on-line inspection system is not only defect detection and identification, but also 벼ality improvement by a feedback control loop to adjust set-points. The proposed inspection system consists of hardware and software components. The hardware components consist of CCD array cameras, a frame grabber and appropriate illumination. The software routines capitalize upon vertical and horizontal scanning algorithms characteristic of a particular deflect. The signal to noise ratio (SNR) calculation based on the results of the wavelet transform is performed to measure any deflects. The defect declaration is carried out employing SNR and scanning methods. Test results from different types of defect and different style of fabric demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed inspection system.

  • In the noncoherent methods for UWB-IR (ultra-wideband impulse radio), block coded modulation (BCM) is better than the transmitted reference (TR) systems in terms of the energy efficiency and data rate. However, even BCM suffers from the performance degradation in the presence of strong inter-frame interference and inter symbol interference. We propose the transmitted reference based on the BCM (TR-BCM) which is the hybrid system of TR and BCM. Performance evaluation shows that the performance of TR-BCM is better than that of BCM in the high SNR range.
