Reliability Analysis of Frame Strctures (뼈대구조의 신뢰성 해석)

  • A reliability analysis model for the frame structure which grafts the discretized ideal plastic method to the stochastic finite element method is introduced. The proposed method simmulates realistically the sequencial occurrence of plastic hinges and yields the probability of failure directly from the geometrical and material properties of a frame structure. The presented method can also take into account the uncertainties inherent in loads and resisten- ces through the stochastic finite element technique. The analysis results are compared with those of the Monte Carlo Simmulation, the Bound Theory, and the fs-unzipping method, and show good agreement.

  • we studied the structural weak areas of an electric car bogie frame by finite element analysis. The bogie frame under consideration is a part of the standard electric car with aluminium car body. Vertical, torsional. lateral and longitudinal loadings were applied. Numerical results were compared with the experimental results. The two results are in a good agreement.

  • In this paper, a damaged example of hanging guide frame used in the lifting of shore protection caisson was investigated. An examination of the stress and stability of members was carried out by structural analysis and the causes of damages was investigated. The stability analysis considering local and global stress buckling was performed. As a result of stability analysis. the first structure was unstable structure. Therefore improved structure was examined and the best effective methodology was the reassignment of wire.

  • Starting with painting, it is the frame that plays the main role in movies, cartoons, and games as well as the act of attracting the audience's attention. Knowing about a frame is to be able to read and use the frame. Therefore, this paper deals with frames of digital games, especially multiple frames that complement the limited configuration of primary frames. In this paper, frame within frames are classified into structural frames, which are the basic components of the game, temporal frames, which reflect player behavior, and surface frames representing the characteristics of existing visual media. Through this, we examine the aspects of frame within a frame as digital game design equipment. This paper is meaningful in that it derives the possibility of using frame within a frame of games in the future and provides a mechanism for frame within a frame analysis.

A Study on Dynamic Characteristics of a Weight-Reduced Bogie Frame (경량화된 대차프레임의 동적특성에 관한 연구)

  • A shape optimization of a rib of a bolster of a bogie frame is attempted and a dimension optimization on upper and lower plates is also carried out for the reduction of the weight of bogie frame. In addition, the dynamic characteristics of the weight reduced model are investigated by an analysis of a natural frequency and a transient analysis. The results show that the first natural frequency of an optimized model is larger than that of the lowest design value. And the results of transit analysis based on the experimental stress also show smaller value than the yield stress. Thus the optimized model attempted in this study is considered to be structurally stable and useful for the improvement of railway carriages.

  • This analytical study was carried out to make quality and productivity up in designing the frame-type furniture with semi-rigid joint by understanding the mechanical and structural behavior of the joint and by evaluating the validity of application of the time-saving Finite Element Method to its structural analysis. Slope deflection equation for rigid joint was modified to describe the moment-rotation behavior of semi-rigid joint and the joint stiffness factor(Z) could be calculated to lessen the experimental expense. It was proved that Finite Element Analysis with imaginary elements having equivalent MOE to the semi-rigid joint could be the alternative method for the structural analysis of the frame-type furniture, comparing the internal rotation of the 2-dimensional beam-to-column model with two-pin(wooden dowel) from the finite element method with other available theoretical and experimental rotation value.

Sensitivity analysis of probabilistic seismic behaviour of wood frame buildings

  • This paper examines the contribution of three sources of uncertainties to probabilistic seismic behaviour of wood frame buildings, including ground motions, intensity and seismic mass. This sensitivity analysis is performed using three methods, including the traditional method based on the conditional distributions of ground motions at given intensity measures, a method using the summation of conditional distributions at given ground motion records, and the Monte Carlo simulation. FEMA P-695 ground motions and its scaling methods are used in the analysis. Two archetype buildings are used in the sensitivity analysis, including a two-storey building and a four-storey building. The results of these analyses indicate that using data-fitting techniques to obtain probability distributions may cause some errors. Linear interpolation combined with data-fitting technique may be employed to improve the accuracy of the calculated exceeding probability. The procedures can be used to quantify the risk of wood frame buildings in seismic events and to calibrate seismic design provisions towards design code improvement.

  • The natural period calculation equations specified in the current building code are empirical formulas that depend on height and material type of the structure. Building with the upper wall and lower frame type is a unique structure which composed of two different structural system This type of structure needs either the deep transfer girder or the thick transfer plate that brings the sudden change of stiffness and mass. Therefore the natural period equations recommended by the current code can not be applied directly. In this study the natural period of building with typical plan obtained by dynamci analysis is compared with that of various codes. Ad approximate estimation equation for the natural period of building with the upper wall and lower frame type obtained by regression analysis is recommended. by the current code can not be applied directly.   • The integrated system for the structural analysis of space frame is made up 4 modules ; pre-process module, structural analysis module, optimum member design module and post-process module. Re-process module of these 4 modules involves data input module and structure modeling module. This study is to develope an efficient modeling program as a basic for development of pre-process module. This modeling program generates geometric information of space frame and performs the input fie form for structure analysis only by input general data. User can mode1 space frame efficiently within shut time by using this program.

Dynamic Response Analysis of Open Section Structures with Warping Restraint Conditions and Impact Load Durations

  • The response analysis of frame structure with open section beams considering warping conditions and short duration load have been performed. When a beam of frame structure is subjected under torsional moment, the cross section will deform a warping as well as twist. For some thin-walled sections warping will be large, and accompanying warping restraint will induce axial and shear stresses and reduce the twist of beam which stiffens the beam in torsion. Because of impact or blast loads, the wave propagation effects become increasingly important as load duration decreases. This paper presents that a warping restraint in finite element model effects the behavior of beam deformation, dynamic mode shape and response analysis. The computer modelling of frame is discussed in linear beam element model and linear thin shell element model, also presents a correlation between computer predicted and actual experimental results for static deflection, natural frequencies and mode shapes of frame. A method to estimate the number of normal modes that are important is discussed.
