The following results were obtained, microstructures and tensile properties in arc brazed joints of DP(dual phase) steel using Cu-5.3wt%Sn insert metal was investigated as function of brazing current. 1) The Fusion Zone was composed of ${\alpha}Fe+{\gamma}Cu$ and Cu23Sn2. The reason for the formation of these solid solutions. Despite, Fe & Cu were impossible to solid solution at room temperature. It's melting & reaction to something of insert metal & Base Metal (DP Steel) by Arc. Brazing Process has faster cooling rate then Cast Process, Supersaturated solid solution at room temperature. 2) The increase Hardness of Fusion Zone was directly proportional to the rise of welding current. Because, ${\alpha}Fe+{\gamma}Cu$ phase (higher hardness than the Cu23Sn2.(104.1Hv < 271.9Hv)) Volume fraction was Growth, due to increasing the amount of base metal melting by High current. 3) The results of tensile shear test by Brazing, All specimens happen to fracture in Fusion Zone. On the other hand, when Brazing Current increasing tend to rise tensile load. but it was very small, about 26-30% of the base metal. 4) The result of fracture analysis, The crack initiate at Triple Point for meet to Upper B.M/Under B.M/Fusion Zone. This Crack propagated to Fusion zone. So ruptured by tensile strength. The Reason to in the fusion zone fracture, Fusion zone by Brazing of hardness (strength) was very lower then the base metal (DP steel). In addition the Fusion Zone's thickness in triple point was thin than the base metal's thickness in triple point.
This paper is about a progressive fracture analysis of concrete by boundary element method. From both displacement boundary integral equation and traction boundary integral equation of solids with cracks, a boundary integral equation for crack problem is derived. For the analysis of progressive fracture of concrete, fracture process zone is modelled based on Dugdale-Barenblatt model with linear tension-softening curve. By using the boundary element modeling, the progressive fractures of concrete beam and compact-tension specimens with various loading conditions are analyzed and compared with experiments. The analysis results show that the technique in this paper can predict the maximum strength and the nonlinear behavior of concrete including post-peak behavior.
This paper presents progressive fracture analysis of concrete using boundary element method and its stabilizing technique. To determine ultimate strength and to predict nonlinear behavior of concrete during progressive crack growth, the modelling of fracture process zone is done based on Dugdale-Barenblatt model with linear tension-softening curve. We regulate displacement and traction boundary integral equation of solids including crack boundary and analyze progressive fracture of concrete beam and compact tension specimen. Also a numerical technique which considers the growth of stress-free crack of concrete during the analysis and removes snapback of postpeak behavior is proposed.

In the micro hole punching, the size and shape of burr and burnish zone are very important factors to evaluate quality of micro holes which depend on punch-die clearance, stain rate, workpiece material and etc. To get micro holes with small burr and wide burnish zone for industrial demands, not only the parametric study but also a study on fracture behavior in shear band are necessary. In this study, 100 $\mu\textrm{m}$, 25 $\mu\textrm{m}$ micro holes in diameter were fabricated on brass (Cu63/Zn37) and SUS 316 foils as aspect ratio 1:1, and the characteristics of micro holes was investigated comparing with man holes over several mm by scanning electron microscopic views and section views. Like macro hole, micro hole is also composed of 4 portions, rollover, burnish zone, fracture zone and it shows similar fracture behavior in shear band, but? by high strain rate (10$^2$∼ 10$^3$s$\^$-1/) unlike macro hole fabrication and increment of relative grain size several different results are shown.
Silicon Nitride samples with different microstructure were prepared by hot pressing and subsequent heat treatment under N2 gas pressure. The fracture toughness (KIC)of Si3N4 increased with the increase of grain size, but the bending strength of plain specimen($\sigma$F) decreased. The relation between fracture stress($\sigma$c) and equivalent crack length(ae) agreed well with the calculated values by process zone size failure criterion. A probabilistic failure assessment curve is proposed based on both statistical character of $\sigma$F and KIC.

In this work we present a one-dimensional damage model capable of representing the dynamic fracture for elastodamage bar with combined hardening in fracture process zone - FPZ and softening with embedded strong discontinuities. This model is compared with another one we recently introduced (Do et al. 2015) and it shows a good agreement between two models. Namely, it is indicated that strain-softening leads to a sensitivity of results on the mesh discretization. Strain tends to localization in a single element which is the smallest possible area in the finite element simulations. The strain-softening element in the middle of the bar undergoes intense deformation. Strain increases with increasing mesh refinement. Strain in elements outside the strain-softening element gradually decreases to zero.

Developed is a nonlinear fracture theory which can model the complex fracture behavior of concrete. This theory is based on the nonlinear behavior due to progressive microcracking and strain-softening in the fracture process zone of concrete cracks. The simplified realistic fracture model which preserves the same fracture energy for the different fracture process zone widths is also derived. By modeling fracture through stress-strain behavior, the effect of compressive stresses parallel to the crack plane can be easily taken into account. The comparisons of the present theory with valuable fracture test data available in the literature show good agreements, and the existing linear theory exhibits in many cases large deviations from the actual test results. A simple approximate formula for the fracture energy of concrete which should, be necessary for the fracture analysis of concrete structures is derived. Finally, the application of fracture theory to reinforced concrete and the necessity of further research are discussed.
Conventional fracture tests of resistance spot welds have been performed without consideration of the paint baking process in the automobile manufacturing line. The aim of this paper is to investigate the effect of the paint baking process on load carrying capacity and fracture mode for resistance spot welded 590 dual phase (DP), 780DP, 980DP, 590 transformation in duced plasticity (TRIP), 780TRIP and 1180 complex phase (CP) steels. With paint baking after resistance spot welding, the l-shape tensile test (LTT) and nano-indentation test were conducted on the as-welded and paint baked samples. Paint baking increased the load-carrying capacity of the resistance spot welded samples and improved the fracture appearance from partial interfacial fracture (PIF) to button fracture (BF). Improvement in fracture appearance after LTT is observed on weldments of 780 MPa grade TRIP steels, especially in the low welding current range with paint baking conditions. The higher carbon contents (or carbon equivalent) are attributed to the low weldability of the resistance spot welding of high strength steels. Improvement of the fracture mode and load carrying ability has been achieved with ferrite hardening and carbide formation during the paint baking process. The average nano-indentation hardness profile for each weld zone shows hardening of the base metal and softening of the heat affected zone (HAZ) and the weld metal, which proves that microstructural changes occur during low temperature heat treatment.
This study is concerned with a correlation of microstructure and local brittle zone (LBZ) in offshore structural steel welds. The influence of the LBZ on fracture toughness was investigated by means of simulated heat-affected zone (HAZ) tests as well as welded joint tests. Micromechanical processes involved in void and cleavage microcrack formation were also identified using notched round tensile tests and subsequent SEM observations. The LBZ in the HAZ of a multiphase welded joint is the interstitially reheated coarse grained HAZ, which is influenced by metallurgical factors such as effective grain size, the major matrix structure and the amount of high-carbon martensite-austenite (M-A) constituents. The experimental results indicate that Chirpy energy was found to scale monotonically with the amount of M-A constituents, confirming that the M-A constituent is the major microstructural factor controlling the HAZ toughness. In addition, voids and microcracks are observed to initiate at M-A constituents by the shear cracking process. Thus, the M-A constituent played an important role in initiating the voids and microcracks, and consequently caused brittle fracture.

Controlling the blast-induced damage zone(BDZ) in mining excavation is a significant issue for the safety of employees and the maintenance of facilities. Numerous studies have been conducted to accurately predict the BDZ in underground mining. This study employed the dynamic fracture process analysis (DFPA) to estimate the BDZ from a single hole blasting. The estimated BDZ were compared with the results obtained by Swedish empirical equation. The DFPA was also used to investigate the control mechanism of BDZ and fracture plane formation around perimeter holes for underground mining blasting.
