  • This paper presents a state observer for nonlinear systems using approximate observer from. It is shown that if a nonlinear system is approximately error linearizable, then there exists a local nonlinear observer whose estimation error converges exponentially to zero. Since the proposed method relaxes strong geometric conditions of previous works, it improves the existing results for nonlinear observer design. Finally, some example is given to show the effectiveness of this scheme.

  • The analysis and design method for achieving robust stabilization of Decentralized Dynamic Surface Control (DDSC) is presented for a class of interconnected nonlinear systems. While a centralized design approach of DSC was developed in [1], the decentralized approach to deal with large-scale interconnected systems is proposed under the assumption that interconnected functions among subsystems are unknown but bounded. To provide a closed-loop form with provable stability properties, augmented error dynamics for N nonlinear subsystems with DDSC are derived. Then, the reachable set for errors of the closed-loop systems will be approximated numerically in the form of an ellipsoid in the framework of convex optimization. Finally, a numerical algorithm to calculate the $L_2$ gain of the augmented error dynamics is presented.

  • Smoothing tests based on an L$_2$ error between a truncated courier series estimator and a true function have shown good powers for a wide class of alternatives, These tests have the same form of the Neyman smooth test whose performance depends on the selected order, a basis, the farm of estimators. We construct flexible data driven Neyman smooth tests by changing a basis, combining model selection criteria and different series estimators. A simulation study shows that the generalized Neyman smooth test with the best basis provides good power for a wider class of alternatives compared with other data driven Neyman smooth tests based on a fixed form of estimator, a fixed basis and a fixed criterion.

  • General closed-form expression is derived and analyzed for the exact bit error rate (BER) performance of the arbitrary rectangular Gray coded QAM signal in conjunction with maximal-ratio combining (MRC) diversity on frequency non-selective slow m-distributed Nakagami fading channel in the presence of co-channel interference. Numerical results demonstrate error performance improvement with the use of MRC diversity reception. The new expressions presented here are suitable for evaluating various cases of practical interest on wireless communication channels.

  • An EP(Electrolytic Polishing)-MAP(Magnetic Abrasive Polishing) hybrid process was applied to remove burr on the micro pattern. Micro pattern fabrication processes are combined with micro milling and EP-MAP hybrid process for deburring. Depending on the micro milling conditions which are applied, micro burrs are formed around the side and top of the pattern. The EP-MAP deburring is used to remove these burrs effectively. To optimize removal rate and form error in the EP-MAP hybrid process, a design of experiment was performed. The effect of deburring process and form error of micro pattern are evaluated via SEM images and the results of AFM.

  • So far in a nonparametric regression model one of the interesting problems is estimating the error variance. In this paper we propose an estimator of the mean of the squared functions which is the numerator of SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio). To estimate SNR, the mean of the squared function should be firstly estimated. Our focus is on estimating the amplitude, that is the mean of the squared functions, in a nonparametric regression using a simple linear regression model with the quadratic form of observations as the dependent variable and the function of a lag as the regressor. Our method can be extended to nonparametric regression models with multivariate functions on unequally spaced design points or clustered designed points.

  • Cutting forces and tool deflection in end milling are represented as the closed form of tool rotational angle and cutting conditions. The discrete cutting forces caused by tool entry and exit are continued using the Fourier series expansion. Tool deflection is predicted by direct integration of the distributed loads on cutting edges. Cutting conditions, tool geometry, run-outs and the stiffness of tool clamping pan are considered for cutting forces and tool deflection estimation. Compared to numerical methods, the presented method has advantages in short prediction time and the effects of feeding and run-outs on cutting forces and tool deflection can be analyzed quantitatively. This research can be effectively used in real time machining error estimation and cutting condition selection for error minimization since the ferm accuracy is easily predicted by tool deflect ion curve.
