  • A Krawtchouk polynomial is introduced as the classical Mac-Williams identity, which can be expressed in weight-enumerator-free form of a linear code and its dual code over a Hamming scheme. In this paper we find a new explicit expression for the $p$-number and the $q$-number, which are more generalized notions of the Krawtchouk polynomial in the P-polynomial schemes by using an extended version of a discrete Green's function. As corollaries, we obtain a new expression of the Krawtchouk polynomial over the Hamming scheme and the Eberlein polynomial over the Johnson scheme. Furthermore, we find another version of the MacWilliams identity over a Hamming scheme.

  • This paper examines the problem of a penny-shaped crack in a thermoporoelastic body. On the basis of the recently developed general solutions for thermoporoelasticity, appropriate potentials are suggested and the governing equations are solved in view of the similarity to those for pure elasticity. Exact and closed form fundamental solutions are expressed in terms of elementary functions. The singularity behavior is then discussed. The present solutions are compared with those in literature and an excellent agreement is achieved. Numerical calculations are performed to show the influence of the material parameters upon the distribution of the thermoporoelastic field. Due to its ideal property, the present solution is a natural benchmark to various numerical codes and simplified analyses.

  • In this paper we study the oscillation criteria for the second order nonlinear differential equation with delay and advanced arguments of the form $$([x(t)+a(t)x(t-{\sigma}_1)+b(t)x(t+{\sigma}_2)]^{\alpha})^{{\prime}{\prime}}+q(t)x^{\beta}(t-{\tau}_1)+q(t)x^{\gamma}(t+{\tau}_2)=0,\;t{\geq}t_0$$ where ${\sigma}_1$, ${\sigma}_2$, ${\tau}_1$ and ${\tau}_2$ are nonnegative constants and ${\alpha}$, ${\beta}$ and ${\gamma}$ are the ratios of odd positive integers. Examples are provided to illustrate the main results.

  • In 1997, Exton, by mainly employing a widely-used process of resolving hypergeometric series into odd and even parts, obtained some new and interesting summation formulas with arguments 1 and -1. We aim at showing how easily many summation formulas can be obtained by simply combining some known summation formulas. Indeed, we present 22 results in the form of two generalized summation formulas for the generalized hypergeometric series $_4F_3$, including two Exton's summation formulas for $_4F_3$ as special cases.

  • In this paper, we discuss the number of distinct fuzzy subgroups of the group ${\mathbb{Z}}_{p^n}{\times}{\mathbb{Z}}_{q^m}{\times}{\mathbb{Z}}_r$, m = 1, 2, 3 where p, q, r are distinct primes for any $n{\in}{\mathbb{Z}}^+$ using the criss-cut method that was proposed by Murali and Makamba in their study of distinct fuzzy subgroups. The criss-cut method first establishes all the maximal chains of the subgroups of a group G and then counts the distinct fuzzy subgroups contributed by each chain. In this paper, all the formulae for calculating the number of these distinct fuzzy subgroups are given in polynomial form.

  • In this article, we will utilize (α, m)-convexity to create a new form of Simpson-Newton inequalities in quantum calculus by using q𝝔1-integral and q𝝔1-derivative. Newly discovered inequalities can be transformed into quantum Newton and quantum Simpson for generalized convexity. Additionally, this article demonstrates how some recently created inequalities are simply the extensions of some previously existing inequalities. The main findings are generalizations of numerous results that already exist in the literature, and some fundamental inequalities, such as Hölder's and Power mean, have been used to acquire new bounds.

  • In order to obtain more realistic fracture resistance curve, research is currently underway to introduce new parameter and to quantify the constraint effect. The objective of this study is to investigate the relationship between the constraint effect of a size(plane size and thickness) and the fracture resistance curve. In this paper fracture toughness tests were performed with various plane size and various thickness of specimens in two materials. The test results showed that the effects of plane size in th4 J-R curve were significant and the curve was risen with an increase in plane size. However, relatively weak influence was observed form the change of the specimen thickness and size. The stress fields near the crack tip of th specimen is close to the HRR field according to increasing the plane size and Q stress appears different value according to material properties and the plane size.

  • An accurate substructural synthesis method including random responses synthesis, frequency-response functions synthesis and mid-order modes synthesis is developed based on rigorous substructure description, dynamic condensation and coupling. An entire structure can firstly be divided into several substructures according to different functions, geometric and dynamic characteristics. Substructural displacements are expressed exactly by retained mid-order fixed-interfacial normal modes and residual constraint modes. Substructural interfacial degree-of-freedoms are eliminated by interfacial displacements compatibility and forces equilibrium between adjacent substructures. Then substructural mode vibration equations are coupled to form an exact-condensed synthesized structure equation, from which structural mid-order modes are calculated accurately. Furthermore, substructural frequency-response function equations are coupled to yield an exact-condensed synthesized structure vibration equation in frequency domain, from which the generalized structural frequency-response functions are obtained. Substructural frequency-response functions are calculated separately by using the generalized frequency-response functions, which can be assembled into an entire-structural frequency-response function matrix. Substructural power spectral density functions are expressed by the exact-synthesized substructural frequency-response functions, and substructural random responses such as correlation functions and mean-square responses can be calculated separately. The accuracy and capacity of the proposed substructure synthesis method is verified by numerical examples.

  • In this paper, the optimal value of optical phase conjugator (OPC) position and the optimal values of dispersion coefficients of fiber sections for the best compensation of the distorted WDM signals with frequency chirp of -1 are induced to alternate with the symmetrical distributions of power and local dispersion with respect to OPC, which is difficult to form in real optical link due to fiber attenuation in mid-span spectral inversion (MSSI) technique. It is confirmed that the Q-factors of total channels of -18.5 dBm launching light power exceed 16.9 dB, which value corresponds to 10-12 BER, by applying the induced optimal parameter values into 16 channels ${\times}$ 40 Gbps WDM system, on the other hand the Q-factors of only 9 channels exceed that value in WDM system with the conventional MSSI technique. Thus, it is expected to expand the availability of OPC in WDM system through the using of the optimal parameter values that are induced by the proposed method in this paper, without the symmetrical distributions of power and local dispersion.

  • Floristic composition and vertical distribution of Mt. Daedun (western slope) were investigated from 1985 to 1986. The results are as follows; 108 families, 346 genera, 511 species, 2 subspecies, 75 varieties, 5 forma or 593 taxa including 77 cultivars. The floral data showed the ecological characteristics such as the value 346 in Fisher's Index, H-D1-H5 in biological type, 10.9% in urban index of naturalized plants and 60.5% in erect form growth form. Based on the physiognomy and population density of dominant tree species the forest vegetation of Mt. Daedun (western slope) was classified into 5 types; Quercus mongolica forest and Q. variabilis forest at 800m above, Carpinys laxiflora forest and Acer mono forest at 700m to 800m and Sapium japonicum forest at 500m to 800m in altitude. And Lindera erythrocarpa forest and zelkova serrata forest are widely distributed at 400m to 800m in altityde along valley and at mountain foot area.
