  • Objective: Reacquisition of motor functions following stroke depends on interhemispheric neural connections. The intervention highlighted in the present case is an insight for augmenting motor recovery by stimulating the lesioned area and adjacent areas governing the motor behaviour of an individual. The purpose of this study was to determine the changes in the motor and cognitive outcomes through multi target stimulation of cortical areas by application of multichannel transcranial direct current stimulation (M-tDCS) in a stroke survivor. Design: A case report. Methods: The patient was a participant of a trial registered with the clinical trial registry of India (CTRI/2020/01/022998). The patient was intervened with M-tDCS over the left primary motor cortex i.e. C3 point and left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex i.e. F3 point with 0.5-2 mA intensity for the period of 20 minutes. SaeboFlex-assisted task-oriented training, functional electrical stimulation over the lower extremity (LE) to elicit dorsiflexion at the ankle and eversion of the foot, and conventional physiotherapy rehabilitation including a tailored exercise program were performed. Outcome assessment was done using the Fugl-Meyer assessment scale (FMA) for the upper and lower extremity (UE and LE), Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MOCA), Wisconsin Gait Scale (WGS) and the Stroke Specific Quality of Life (SSQOL) measures. Assessment was taken at Day 0, 15 and 30 post intervention. Results: Improvement was observed in all the outcome measures i.e FMA (UE and LE), MOCA, SSQOL and WGS across the span of 4 weeks. Conclusions: M-tDCS induced improvement in motor functions of the UE and LE, gait parameters and cognitive functions of the patient.

  • Jangchungdan Park is now perceived as a mere park at the foot of Namsan mountain, but originally it was created to commemorate soldiers of Korean Empire on a site which name was Namsoyeong(南小營) during Joseon Dynasty. During the period of Japanese colonial rule, it was transformed into a park due to the rapidly changing circumstances, so the components expressing the validity of the colonial rule were introduced into the park. This paper examines the time sequential changes of Jangchungdan Park during the period of Japanese colonial rule, and the conclusions can be summarized as given below. Firstly, the park originally was a space to commemorate the soldiers who fought for the Korean Empire. It was built on formerly restricted area at the foot of Namsan Mountain in 1900, and it was arranged putting the ceremonial shrine Dansa (壇祠) as a central building and the annexes in the surroundings of it. The memorial ceremonies were held regularly in spring and autumn until 1909. Secondly, it became a city park for citizens of Gyeongseong-bu(the name of Seoul under the Japanese colonial rule). The authorities of Gyeongseong-bu reorganized Jangchungdan as a park in 1919, prohibited the performance of memorial ceremonies, and the existing buildings except the ceremonial shrine Dansa began to be used as park management facilities. Resting areas and amenities were supplemented for the usage of people from various backgrounds, and the large scale planting of cherry trees made the park a famous place to enjoy cherry-blossoms and other flowers in spring. Thirdly, it was reconstructed as a space to honor the influential personalities of Japanese colonial system. In 1932, Bankmun temple (博文寺) to commemorate Ito Hirobumi was constructed at a location that made it possible for a number of people to overlook Jangchungdan area. During that time, the buildings of traditional Joseon architecture were removed and reconstructed to serve as annexes to Bankmun temple. Due to the strategy to make Jangchungdan park a tourist attraction, Bankmun temple was included into the Gyeongseong sightseeing course, since the wide panorama of Jangchungdan Park and the whole city of Gyeongseong was opening from the temple. Various different components were introduced into Jangchungdan Park due to the rapidly changing circumstances; therefore the nature of the park was either altered or reproduced. Hopefully, the park rearrangement works will be executed paying respects to the memories of the past hereafter.

  • We investigated the effects of death and gametogenesis by infection of the trematode in the venus clam, Cyclina sinensis. The specimens of C. sinensis were collected monthly at the tidal flat of Kaehwado, Puan-gun and Sangpo aquafarms, Kochang-gun, Chollabuk-do, Korea, from June 1999 to May 2000. One species of a trematode, the metacercaria of Himasthla kusasigi Yamaguti, 1939 (Enchinistomatidae), was found in the venus clam, C. sinensis. Infection rates in Kaehwado area and Sangpo aquafarm were average 93% and 81%, respectively. Infection rates during the study period reached the maximum (100%) in September 1999 and March-April 2000 and showed the minimum (80%) in July in Kaehwado, while those in Sangpo aquafarm showed the maximum (99%) in January 2000 and the minimum (47%) in November 1999. The infection parts of the metacercaria of H. kusasigi in the venus clam were the visceral mass, gill, mantle including the foot. Their infection rates in Kaehwado area and Sangpo aquafarm were 76.7% and 81.3% in the visceral mass, 19.1% and 14.5% in the gill, and 5,1% and 4.2% in the mantle, respectively. Infection rates of H. kusasigi showed higher with the increase of the size of the clams. No abnormal characteristics in the various tissues by histological observations were found in the clams infected by the metacercaria of H. kusasigi because this clam is the second intermediate host.

  • Urban parks are public spaces that provide various services for any urban resident to use and enjoy. Parks should be fairly distributed so that the urban parks can be equally used amongst different regions, generations and classes. Researches on spatial distribution of urban parks have been continuously conducted from the past based on the principles of fairness with variety, and it was evident that their techniques have become more elaborate and sophisticated. Yet, there have been limitations in the analysis of residents who are the main users of the urban parks. The research done so far was unable to apply the real number of the residents and it was carried out by only classifying and analyzing the population by the same scale(grid in the same sizes), postal(zip) code and administrative district. The actual population that resides within the usable range of urban parks was not used. This study analyzes and evaluates the spatial distribution that the residents can use on foot, by utilizing the service areas and the residents' registration data by addresses. In this study, to analyze the square measure of the service areas of neighborhood parks in Daegu Metropolitan City and the number of residents within and outside of the service area, network analysis techniques were employed and the residents' registration data were utilized. Major findings were that the Square measure of service areas of neighborhood parks turned out to be 31.23% of the square measure of the residential areas and also, that only 43.03% of the population of the Daegu Metropolitan area lives within the service areas of the neighborhood parks.

  • This survey was conducted to investigate the factors affecting the chemical components of groundwater in the plastic house area cultivated with horticulture crops. The data were evaluated with depth of groundwater, topography and years of cultivation as major factors. $NO_3-N$ content of groundwater was higher at waterside(Alluvial plain) than Inland plain(Alluvial plain), local valley & fan or mountain foot area, and also was detected the highest concentration in 6-10m depth well. The contents of $NO_3-N$ and $SO_4{^{2-}}$ in groundwater were increased with cultivation years. The ionic composition (${\sum}A/{\sum}C$ : ratio between total equivalant of anions and cations) of groundwater decreased with depth and was higher at waterside(alluvial plain) than other topography. The $NO_3-N$ content was negatively correlated with pH whereas it was positively correlated with $SO_4{^{2-}}$, $Cl^-$, $K^+$, $Ca^{2+}$, and $Mg^{2+}$.

  • Construction projects have unique characteristics that these may be carried out by contractors thus, cost should be estimated before execution. The importance of cost estimation and cost check has become increasingly emphasized in all phases of construction project that would be performed numerously. It is needed that owner have to estimate reasonable budget, and contractor should predict the bid price. However, there are lack of standard cost estimation method before quantity takeoff, cost analysis method, and cost database thus, the method of area cost, such as square foot method, is as used as ever in Korea. Therefore, this research suggested standard cost database structure CUBE, and analysis method of item quantity per one household categorized by area type. Whereafter, database of all item quantity of finish work has been built with 90 building cost data, and validated it's availability. In this respect, the suggested method and the findings from this research are expected to help enhancing the efficiency and productivity of cost estimation in Korea.

  • The most dominant type of landslide in Korea is debris flows which mostly take place along mountain slopes during the rainy season, July to August. The landslides have been reported to begin activation when rainfall is more than 200mm within 2days. The debris flows are usually followed by translational slips which occur upper part of mountain slopes and they transit to debris flow as getting down to the valleys. Lithology, location, slope inclination, grain size distribution of soil, permeability, dry density and porosity have been proved as triggering factor causing translational slides. The triggering data taken from mapping are statistically analysed to get landslide potential quantitatively. Rock mass creeps mostly occur on well bedded sedimentary rocks in Kyeongsang Basin. Although the displacement of rock mass creep is relatively small about 1m, the creep can cause severe hazards due to relatively large volume of the involved rock mass. Examples are rock mass creep occurred in the mouth of Hwangryongsan Tunnel, in Chilgok and in Sachon in 1999. Although the direct factor of the creeps are due to slope cutting at the foot area, more attention is required A rotational slide occurring within thick soil formation or weathered rock is also closely related to bottom part of slope cutting. It is propagated circular or semi-circular type. Especially in korea, the rotational slide may be frequently occurred in Tertiary tuff area. Because they are mainly composed of volcanic ash and pyroclastic materials, well developed joints and high degree of swelling and absorption can easily cause the slide. The landslide among the Pohang-Guryongpo national road is belong to this type of slide.

  • The CTSIB (Clinical Test of Sensory Integration on Balance) using high sensitive pressure sensors is normally used to assess the sense of balance in hospital. It takes an objective measurement of the amount of sway that occurs in the body trunk by observing the change in the center of pressure (CoP) on the foot at the upright posture. In this paper, we would like to propose method to easily measure trunk sway in home. Although the Wii balance board(WBB) is used for games, it can measures the center of pressure, which is highly correlated. The Wii remote controller(WRC) is inexpensive compared to the WBB, but it has problems with estimation of trunk sway because it can't measure pressure directly like WBB. We collected data from 10 normal subjects (5 males, 5 females) from two devices in order to compare the CoP from WBB and the center of mass (CoM) from WRC. The results of WRC and WBB was similar when the data were analyzed by the convex hull and ellipse area.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate fast food consumption, awareness of fast food and food habit of middle school students in Wonju area according to their intake frequency of fast foods. Subjects were categorized into 3 groups according to intake frequency of fast foods : frequent users($\geq$ 1 times/week, 29.5%) users(2~3 times/month, 50.7%), non-users($\leq$ 1 time/month, 19.8%). As for the purpose of eating fast food, many ate fast food between meals. The most favorite fast food was chicken regardless of intake frequency, followed by pizza, hamburger, the reason being that it tasted good. Regarding if there was any room for improvement, the largest number of the students asked for inexpensive price, irrespective of fast food intake frequency. Compared to users, non-users intake more diverse foods, vegetables, dairy products, fruits, protein foods and seaweed. Users or frequent users of fast food more felt drowsy, cold in the hand and foot, rough skin symptoms than non-users. In conclusion, frequent consumption of fast foods can lead unbalanced diet intakes for middle school students, and those who consumed fast foods frequently showed undesirable food habits in their daily meal.
