  • "Eco-friendly" automobile has been a symbol of the Low Carbon, Green Growth strategy that Korea government decided to pursue. In line with the recent policy trend, a number of new LPG stations are being constructed. However, communities where mass storage are installed have been suffered from risk of serious accidents. In this work, economic analyses for different installation methods has been performed to prevent accidents in LPG filling station. The review shows that the underground storage is beneficial for the maintenance and the effective land use.

  • This study analyzed the current and temperature characteristics of major components of an induction motor during normal and abnormal operations as functions of the difference in the rated capacities of medium and large-sized motors widely used in industrial settings. The temperature rise equation of the induction motor winding was derived through locked-rotor operation experiments and linear regression analysis. When the ambient temperature is 40 ℃, the time to reach 155 ℃, the temperature limit of the insulation class (F class) of the winding of the induction motor, was confirmed to be 48 seconds for the 2.2 kW induction motor and 39 seconds for the 3.7 kW induction motor. This means that when the rated capacity is large or the installation environment is high temperature, the time to reach the temperature limit of the insulation class during locked-rotor operation is short, and the risk of insulation deterioration and fire is high. In addition, even if the EOCR (Electronic Over Current Relay) is installed, if the setting time is excessively set, the EOCR does not operate even if the normal and locked-rotor operation of the induction motor is repeated, and the temperature limit of the insulation grade of the winding of the induction motor is exceeded. The results of this study can be used for preventive measures such as the promotion of electrical and mechanical measures for the failure of induction motors and fire prevention in industrial sites, or the installation of fire alarm systems.

  • This study investigated the smoke blocking and control systems for the safety of residents evacuation and for the prevention of smoke spread through the central corridor in the event of central corridor type of intelligent building fire. We offered additional ways of utilizing smoke ventilators and intake ventilation equipment and utilized CFD-based fire simulation program(FDS Ver.5.5.3) in order to analyze the effect. As a result, many differences in the smoke block effect, depending on the application of smoke ventilator and location of installation, was found. In addition, the result was found that larger effect was showed not in the case of application of smoke ventilator in central corridor only but application in fire room. The reason is that the smoke leakage is blocked primarily as air is flowed in the fire room through open door by operation of intake smoke ventilator in the public corridor and secondarily, the smoke leakage to the public corridor could be blocked as fire and smoke were released to the opened smoke ventilator continuously. Especially, the effect was maximized through complex interactions by applying smoke ventilator and intake ventilation equipment in corridor together rather than applying smoke ventilator and intake ventilation equipment independently. The proposed measure through this study shall be considered from architectural plan as one of ways for blocking from smoke spread to the central corridor in the central corridor type of intelligent building. In addition, flaws on regulation shall be established and supplemented.

  • Flammable materials used in semiconductor supply facilities are manufactured at high temperatures and high pressures, and as the semiconductor industry becomes more sophisticated and larger, the amount of materials used is rapidly increasing. Recently, fires and explosions occurred during the handling of acetic acid, which is a raw material for making products in the semiconductor material manufacturing process. Overall problems such as lack of air inflow prevention for fire and explosion prevention were identified. Therefore, in this study, in order to accurately identify the cause of the accident and prevent fire and explosion that may occur in the process of handling large amounts of flammable liquids, opinions from various perspectives, such as construction of facilities such as hoppers, installation of AOPS components, and change in workers' perceptions would like to present.

  • According to the statistics released by Ministry of Public Safety and Security, the number of restaurant fires in Korea reached around 2,400 and 169 damages of human life and damages to property was approximately over $8.8 billion for recent 3 years. It could be desirable having automatic commercial fire-extinguishing equipment at commercial facilities excluding housing facilities for the safety, applying at the place first where it has been more risky and expected fire can be occurred relatively because economical burden can be accelerated. In order to do this, adjust its level to meet the same level of the kitchen for 'Specific Target for Fire Fighting' that "gas leak alarm" has be equipped relevant regulations and it is considered and reasonable to expand the limit of application gradually.

  • This study examined the safety of storage tanks by analyzing the causes of fire on outdoor storage tanks. The outdoor storage tank is a fixed device for the long-term storage of dangerous goods and consists of a tank body and accessories; the accessories consist of a vent system, breather valve, flame arrestor, etc. The flame arrestor is a necessary safety measure to prevent fire explosions on outdoor storage tanks. On the other hand, it has been suggested that the installation of a flame arrester is necessary to compare the domestic and international standards. In addition, the flame arrester should be installed in the existing outdoor storage tanks, to complement foreign standards because there are not enough domestic standards to verify the performance of the flame arrester.

  • This study defined engineering mechanism and compensation method to establish reference pressure of smoke control zone with atmospheric pressure that is compensated for temperature. The reliable controller of integration smoke control was developed by establishing the specifications, algorithms and constructing engineering data. The development of controller for integration smoke control can cut down number of processes, manufacturing and installation cost by removing pressure measurement pipe established separately for non smoke control zone, and improve the accuracy of pressure differential by embedding pressure measurement ports for non smoke control zone. More correct and reliable pressure differentials can be obtained by the central control from controller of integration smoke control rather than the existent individual control. This will provide the basics and the flexibility to the integral smoke control system and accordingly improve the performance of disaster prevention.

  • This study presents problems and improvement measures for the supply rate of single-alarm detector and fire extinguisher installed in households. Statistics from the NFDS show that 18 percent of all fires and 45 percent of deaths occurred in residential buildings over the past eight years. It was less than 60% that households be equipped rate of basic fire-fighting systems by 2019. In this study, I analyzed the law and statistics of fire to devise a method for fire safety. I proposed that the basic fire-fighting systems is be equipped in households. Like this : First, a free distribution policy for the over 60 years of age and Areas where is fire engine difficult to enter. Second, the policy of adopting safety pay in disaster. Third, the policy of expanding supply through the revision of the Licensed Real Estate Agents Act. Fourth, the policy of self-regulating installation by safety education and set up a data base system. Fifth make a law of household's National Fire Safety Standards.

  • In this paper, we study from of flowing leakage current in electrical installation. Leakage current is expressed by a resistivity leakage current($I_{gr}$), a capacitive leakage current($I_{gc}$), an inductivity leakage current($I_{gl}$). General Zero Phase Current Transformer (ZCT) detect a leakage current($I_{g}$) that are conjoined resistivity leakage current and capacitive leakage current. In case $I_{gr}$ is big than $I_{gc}$, there is no singular problem in leakage current detection of system. But, in case $I_{gc}$ is big than $I_{gr}$, earth leakage breaker can not prevent accident effectively. Can lower electric leakage perception current to 5 mA if apply resistivity leakage current detecting circuit. We can achieve prevention of electricity disaster spontaneously.

  • A variety of schemes were sought for a mitigation of thermal stratification phenomenon in the branch piping of domestic nuclear power plant. Several mechanisms of thermal stratification occurrence were introduced in this paper. A number of factors were selected to find out the schemes for thermal stratification mitigation and the computational analysis were performed. The length of vertical branch piping, the diameter, the radius of curvature of the elbow, the direction of connection between main piping and branch piping, the slope of branch piping, the leakage flow rate, the installation of additional valve, the change of the 1st valve position and another branch piping connected with branch piping were mentioned as factors in this paper.
