  • In this paper, we consider surfaces in the 3-dimensional Euclidean space $\mathbb{E}^3$ which are of finite III-type, that is, they are of finite type, in the sense of B.-Y. Chen, corresponding to the third fundamental form. We present an important family of surfaces, namely, tubes in $\mathbb{E}^3$. We show that tubes are of infinite III-type.

  • For any Banach spaces X and Y, let L(X, Y) denote the set of all bounded linear operators from X to Y. Let A ∈ L(X, Y) and B, C ∈ L(Y, X) satisfying operator equation ABA = ACA. In this paper, we prove that AC and BA share the local spectral properties such as a finite ascent, a finite descent, property (K), localizable spectrum and invariant subspace.

  • This paper investigates the internal structure of finite small clauses (FSC). I will propose that a FSC is base-generated at Spec-CP and a null operator is involved to check the formal features of the embedded T and turn a sentence into a predicate.

  • Let $\mathcal{B}(H)$ and $\mathcal{B}(K)$ denote the algebras of all bounded linear operators on Hilbert spaces $\mathcal{H}$ and $\mathcal{K}$, respectively. We show that if ${\phi}:\mathcal{B}(H){\rightarrow}\mathcal{B}(K)$ is an additive mapping satisfying ${\phi}({\mid}A{\mid}^2)={\mid}{\phi}(A){\mid}^2$ for every $A{\in}\mathcal{B}(H)$, then there exists a mapping ${\psi}$ defined by ${\psi}(A)={\phi}(I){\phi}(A)$, ${\forall}A{\in}\mathcal{B}(H)$ such that ${\psi}$ is the sum of $two^*$-homomorphisms one of which C-linear and the othere C-antilinear. We will also study some conditions implying the injective and rank-preserving of ${\psi}$.

  • An unstructured tetrahedral mesh generation algorithm has been presented. In order to construct better meshes in interior region by using an advancing front technique, a connecting operator and a local finishing operator II have been developed in addition to the existing operators. Before applying digging operators that generate new nodes inside of a meshing region, a connecting operator is employed that uses existing nodes which satisfy certain conditions for producing well-conditioned elements. The local finishing operator II is introduced to terminate the meshing process more flexibly on remaining subregions. With these new operators, tetrahedral meshing process becomes more robust and good quality of meshes are constructed.

  • When a molecule is perturbed by an external field, the perturbed moecue can be described as a doubly perturbed system. Hartree-Fock operator in the absence of the field is the zeroth order Hamiltonian, and a correlation operator and the external field operator are perturbations. The effective Hamiltonian, which is a projection of the total Hamiltonian onto a small finite subspace (usually a valence space), has been formally derived. The influence of the external field to the molecular Hamiltonian itself has been examined within an effective Hamiltonian framework. The first order effective expectation values, for instance electromagnetic transition amplitudes, between valence states are found to be easily calculated - by simply taking matrix elements of the effective external field operator. Implications of the terms in perturbation expansion are discussed.

  • Algebraic spectral subspaces were introduced by Johnson and Sinclair via a transnite sequence of spaces. Laursen simplified the definition of algebraic spectral subspace. Algebraic spectral subspaces are useful in automatic continuity theory of intertwining linear operators on Banach spaces. In this paper, we characterize algebraic spectral subspaces of operators with finite ascent. From this characterization we show that if T is a generalized scalar operator, then T has finite ascent.

  • In this paper we study the mapping properties of the finite field restricted averaging operators to various algebraic varieties. We derive necessary conditions for the boundedness of the generalized restricted averaging operator related to arbitrary algebraic varieties. It is shown that the necessary conditions are in fact sufficient in the specific case when the Fourier transform on varieties has enough decay estimates. Our work extends the known optimal result on regular varieties such as paraboloids and spheres to certain lower dimensional varieties.

  • Suppose $T_{\varphi}$ is a 2-hyponormal Toeplitz operator whose self-commutator has rank $n{\geq}1$. If $H_{\bar{\varphi}}(ker[T^*_{\varphi},T_{\varphi}])$ contains a vector $e_n$ in a canonical orthonormal basis $\{e_k\}_{k{\in}Z_+}$ of $H^2({\mathbb{T}})$, then ${\varphi}$ should be an analytic function of the form ${\varphi}=qh$, where q is a finite Blaschke product of degree at most n and h is an outer function.
