Effect of Etch Hole Position and Sacrificial Layer Residue on a Novel Half-Coaxial Transmission Line Filter (에치홀의 위치와 희생층의 잔류물이 전송선 필터 응답에 미치는 영향)

  • In this paper, we present the effect on a novel transmission line filter response by the etch hole position on the suspended ground and the residue on the resonator under ground plane. We defined the etch hole offset as the distance from the sidewall of the suspended ground to the nearest side of the etch holes. We simulated new filter responses to reflect the real value of the changed etch hole offset caused by characteristics of negative photoresist. Return loss is distorted by the residue on the center conductor remained after sacrificial layer removing. By comparison of simulation and measurements, we concluded the residue on the resonator distorted the RF response worse than etch hole offset variation did.

  • Digital systems are increasingly being used in the ranges of many control engineering. The residue number system offers the possibility of high speed operation and error correction. The compact self-checking pulse-train residue arithmetic circuit is proposed. A fault tolerant digital filter is practically implemented using these proposed circuits.

  • To identify operating parameters of the up-flow filtering system, which is available to discharge filtering residue after the rain, developed for treatment of urban storm runoff, lab scale test was carried out. Removal efficiency of SS was 68.7%, 62.2%, and 58.6% at the area roading rate of 2.46m/h, 4.68m/h, and 10m/h, respectively, filtering device is desirable to operate at the lower than 4.68m/h of area roading rate to get higher level of 60% SS removal efficiency. The removal efficiency of SS was 57.1% ~ 68.7% at the raw water SS of 100mg/L ~ 600mg/L, and the SS in treated water was maintained at the constant level through the elapsed time. It is indicate that filtering device can guarantee a certain level of effluent water quality at various raw water quality. The removal efficiency of SS to the depth of filter media was 68.3%, 78.6% at the filter depth of 10 cm, 20cm respectively. The final treated water quality was showed 30.2mg/L of CODMn, 1.60mg/L of TN and 0.25mg/L of TP. The average removal efficiencies by filtering device developed in this research were recorded slightly lower levels than other research. The main reason of these results were the first, the filter depth of the media used in this test was shallow, the second, the kind of filter media in discharge port of residue. More research to kind of filter media, filter packing rate, select of media for residue discharge port should be go on to produce optimum operating condition. The result of this study would be valuable for the application of filtration device to control of urban storm water.

  • The residue number system offers the possibility of high-speed operation and error detection/correction because of the separability of arithmetic operations on each digit. A compact residue arithmetic module named the self-checking pulse-train residue arithmetic circuit is effectively employed as the basic module, and an efficient error detection/correction algorithm in which error detection is performed in each basic module and error correction is performed based on the parallelism of residue arithmetic is also employed. In this case, the error correcting circuit is imposed in series to non-redundant system. This design method has an advantage of compact hardware. Following the proposed method, a 2nd-order recursive fault-tolerant digital filter is practically implemented, and its fault-tolerant ability is proved by noise injection testing.

  • Recently, because of its pecularity, the Residue Number System has been considerable interest in spacial purpose signal processing. In this paper, a realization of digital filter based on residue properties were considered. To get the residue code directly from the analog input, a direct analog to residue conversion scheme were proposed. Finally error analysis is discussed and scaling error model is established.

  • A new manufacturing method using laser transfer technology was developed for a color filter of TFT-LCD. This method can make red, green and blue color layer at the same time without several baking processes. Simple process, no residue, good edge profile, and so on are merits of this process. The same performances (such as color characteristics, reliability, hardness and so on) of current color filter were achieved with this process.

A Study on Penicillin Residue In Market Milk in Seoul (시판 우유중의 잔류 Penicillin에 관한 실험연구)

  • The study Was carried out to determine the residue concentrations of peniccillin in Merket milk samples collected from some of the retail shops located in Seoul City. During the period from June to September 1974, 160 milk samples were collected and examined, using the Filter Paper Disk Method, for Screening test and Quantitative test of penicillin residue. The results obtained in the study were as follows: 1. Among the 160 Market Milk samples. 28 samples (17.5%) proved to contain some antibiotics residue. 2. In the case of the antibiotics residue positive milk samples, the rate of penicillin residue alone was 46.4% and the rate of the other antibiotics was 53.6%. 3. In the distribution of milk plants examined in relation-to the antibiotics residue positive milk samples, it was shown that S.K.H. and M.Market Milk plants had 15.0, 17.5, 20.0 and 17.5 percent respectively. 4. According to the monthly distribution, the highest antibiotics residue positive rate (25.0% of the samples) was shown in the samples collected in August, and the next (20.0% of the samples) in July. While the samples collected in June and September 1974 Showed lower rates of 7.5% and 17.5% respectively. 5. The range of the residue concentraction of penicillin in the positive milk samples were as follows: a. 53.8% of the total samples were found in the lowest range of 0.02-0.05 IU/ml. b. 30.8% of the total samples were found in the lower range of 0.05-0.1 IU/ml. c. 7.7% of the total samlpes were found in the higher range of 0.1-0.2 IU/ml. d. 7.7% of the total samples were found in the highest range of over 0.2 IU/ml.

  • In this paper, an implementation method for digital filters using the residue arithmetic is proposed. This method can be used for processing digital signals with larger number of bits by applying the idea of the bit-slice algorithm, while previous residue digital filters can process digital signals with only a small number of bits. Furthermore, high-speed residue addition, subtrac-tion, and multiplication using look-up tables make it possible to get more flexible filters. Everything that is mentioned above is proved by implementing a cascade fourth-order Butterworth lowpass digital filter using this method.

  • The efficiency of dewatering of soybean milk residue was improved by hydraulic pressing after pH adjustment to 4.5 with organic acids such as acetic and lactic acids. Water content of raw soybean milk residue was reduced from 80% to 72% by pressing after pH adjustment, while only to 78% by the conventional hydraulic press. The water content of the residue after pH adjustment was further reduced to 63% by hydraulic pressing with ohmic heating. The pH adjustment facilitated separation of cake from the filter cloth and reduced the solid content of the expressed liquid from 10 to 3%.

Mutagenicity of Diesel-Exhaust Particulates

  • Organic extracts of diesel- exhaust particulates were analyzed for mutagenicity using Ames Salmonella typhimurium assay system. An experimental diesel microbus used was drived on the chassis dynamometer according to CVS-75 mode. The samples were taken from the mixed gases in a dilution tunnel. With a high-volume air sampler equipped with double filter holders, particulate matters were collected on a teflon-coated glass fiber filter placed behind a activated carbon filter. After ultrasonic extraction with benzene- ethanol and evaporation to dryness, the residue was dissolved in dimethylsulfoxide. Each sample was tested toward 2 strains, TA100 and TA98 by the pre-incubation method in the absence and presence of S-9mix. Average concentration of diesel- exhaust particulates was about 116.6mg/m$^3$, and 44.1~62.2 % to the total weight of particulates, consisted of organic matters. The mutagenicities of diesel- exhaust particulate organic matters were 4,512 and 2,205 revertants/m$^3$ toward TA100 without and with S-9mix, respectively. Those toward TA98 were 13,367 and 3,715 revertants/m$^3$, respectively.
