The Relation between Life Stress and Nutrient Intake Status in Female University Students (여대생의 생활 스트레스와 영양소 섭취 상태와의 관계)

  • A survey was carried out to investigate relation between life stress and nutrient intake status in female university students. It was represented that increasing trends of food intake under the stress condition and preference taste was sweet and hot in female students. The female students thought that food intake for coping with stress was produced negative results and they perceived the relation between stress and their health problem. There was a positive correlation between stress level and the change of food intake in female students statistically(p<0.01). They had higher stress in future prospect, academic problem, friend relationship, personality and family relationship. The average calorie intake of female university students was 1553.06kcal(77.65% of RDA). The intake of protein, calcium and iron were quite less than the RDA, whereas the intake of phosphate, vitamin A, $B_2$, C, niacin were more than the RDA. In changes of nutrient intake under the stress conditions, the higher stress group had decreased intake of calcium, iron, vitamin $B_1,\;B_2$, C than the lower stress group(p<0.05).

  • This study was conducted to investigate the eating habits, self-perception of body image, and weight control behavior in Korean adolescents by gender. Data pertaining to 70,809 subjects(male 37,090, female 33,719) were obtained from the sixth Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey(2010). The rate of skipping breakfast was 42.5% in male, and 45.8% in female students. The intake frequency of vegetable, milk, soda, fast food, and instant noddles was higher in male than female students. Moreover, 33% of male and 31.9% of female students considered themselves to be somewhat or very obese. Notably, 2.3% of underweight students considered themselves to be obese. Weight control measures were practiced in 44.6% of male, and 54.6% of female students. Meal restrictions were used more frequently to control weight by females, while exercise was used more by males. The perceived stress level was higher in female than male students, especially that due to appearance. Therefore, integrated and personalized high school nutrition programs according to gender should be implemented to establish proper body image perception and eating habits, as well as to develop selfesteem.

Subjectivity of Female Nursing Student Providing Intimate Care to Patient (여자 간호대학생의 친밀한 신체간호에 대한 인식)

  • Nursing students are often embarrassed about offering an intimate care to patients in a clinical environment, and experience stress. In particular, nursing students is often a low level of interaction skill and nursing school has no education program for this intimate care. Therefore, these difficulties are increased while the clinical practice. The purpose of this study was to identify the attitude of female nursing students regarding intimate care to patient and the characteristics of the type by applying Q-methodology, and to create the basic data for the development of education programs for nursing student to prevent stress and embarrassed feeling. Data were collected by applying 35 Q statements to 32 female nursing students. Collected data were analyzed with the PC QUANL program. Results indicate that female nursing students' attitudes of intimate care were divided into four types: 'considering situation-professional obligation type' 'gender related risk avoidance type' 'transcendent professional care type' and 'pursuit of the ideal professional type.' The types of female nursing students' attitudes of intimate care to patient were discussed, focusing on the attitude type identified in this study.

The Process of Female University Students' Experiences in Healthy Dieting (여대생의 건강 다이어트 경험과정)

  • Purpose: This study was to describe and develop the female university students' healthy dieting. Methods: The data were collected from 9 female students sampled from two universities. The grounded theory of Strauss and Corbin (1990) was applied. Results: As a result, 40 concepts, 16 subcategories, and seven categories were deduced from open coding. Emerged seven major categories were as followings: (1) Recognizing of general health condition, (2) Try to actively participate on social activities, (3) Searching for continuous healthy exercising methods, (4) Utilizing of social support system for healthy dieting, (5) Making an individual healthy rhythms, (6) Exhibiting abilities of self-control, (7) Charging self-confidences. The periods of process were divided into 4 stages, the phase of facing self-health, the phase of searching living conditions, the phase of developing individual strategies, and the phase of forming self-confidence. The core variable, "discovering self competencies" incorporated the relationship between and among all categories and explained the process. Conclusion: This study had described the process of healthy dieting of female university students in Korea. These findings have important implications for health promotion of the female university students and can be utilized as material for developing health programs.

The influence on participation in Dance Sports of female University Students and recognition of physical attraction and Importance of Physical attraction

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of female college students' participation in dance sports, perception of body attractiveness, and importance of body attractiveness. For this study, female university students residing in Gwangju Metropolitan City and Jeonnam region in 2019 were selected as the population. A total of 350 people were selected as the study subjects, but 170 dance sports participants and 130 non-participants were selected for the study, excluding 50 copies of double written and unfaithful data. After individually entering coded data into the computer, the statistical program (SPSS Windows.20.0 Version) was used. The results obtained through this research process are as follows. First of all, it was found that there was a difference in perception of body attractiveness depending on whether female university students participated in dance sports. Second, it was found that there was a difference in the importance of physical attractiveness depending on whether female college students participated in dance sports. Third, it was found that female college students' perception of body attractiveness has an effect on the importance of body attractiveness.

Effect of Middle-school students' food behabior on health condition and degree of study accomplishment (중학생의 식행동이 건강상태와 학업성취도에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was undertaken to review the relationship between middle-school students' food-behavior and their health conditions/school performances. For this purpose, 495 male and female middle-school students were sampled form seven middle schools located in Seoul for a questionnaire survey. The surveyed data were analysed with simple frequency, percentage, t-test, chi-square test, dispersion analysis, Pearson's correlation and hierarchical multiple-regression analysis which make use of the SPSS/PC+ package system. The results of survey can be summarized as follows; Most of students had three meals a day regularly, but some female students used to skip breakfast or supper. The amount of a mael was adequate. Their main night-smacks were fruits. The problem perceived by students was unbalanced meal ; Female students took more snack than that of male students. They usually took a snack a day. All students tended to take delicious snacks. The most favorate smack of students was fruits. Most students did not suffer any serious diseases, but some had one or more respiratory diseases. Female students had some or other physical troubles in their eyes, mouth, digesting organs, muscle/bone, skin and had fatigue. Female students had mental problems of depression, uneasiness and hostility. The average I.Q. of students was 117.4, and those who had higher I.Q. got much higher scores. The regularity and amount of meal and intake of animal food were all positively related with the growth of height and weight. And the taller, the higher I.Q. they had. Those students who took meals three times regularly and adequately, who had no coffee and snack and who took balanced meals were healthier in both physical and mental terms. In particular, those who had adequate amount of breakfast regularly were not only healthier but also had higher I.Q. and school performance.

Physicochemical Characteristics and Intake Rate of Kimchi provided to the Elementary School Lunch Program in Sung - nam Area (성남지역의 초등학교 급식에 공급되는 김치의 이화학적 특성과 섭취율 조사)

  • This study was undertaken to investigate the physicochemical characteristics and intake rate of Kimchi provide to five foodservice elementary schools in Sungnam area selecting 4th and 6th grade students pH indicated 4.73-5.29 at before-serving state. Total acidity were 0.23-0.44% and salinity just before-serving state were 2.41-2.82%. Vitamin C were 6.88-8.12mg% and Total dietary fiber showed the range of 19.18-22.60. While the intake rate of kimchi of female students was higher than that of male students for 4th grade students, the intake rate of kimchi of male students was higher than that of female students for 6th grade students. As a whole, the intake rate of male students was higher than that of female students. The intake rate of male students correlated significantly that of female students, the preference rate of kimchi was almost the same regardless of sex distinction.

An Investigation on High School Students' Chemistry-Related Environmental Conceptions and Environmental Attitudes (고등학생들의 화학 관련 환경 개념 및 환경에 대한 태도 조사)

  • In this study, high school students' environmental conceptions and attitudes, and their relationships with affective variables (self-esteem, enjoyment of science lesson, and leisure interest in science) were investigated. Students' environmental conceptions were found to be low, and male students' environmental conceptions were higher than female students. However, the environmental attitudes of female students were more positive than those of male students. There were no differences between male and female students in the ecocentric attitudes, but male students had more egocentric attitudes than female students. Students of higher prior science achievement level possessed higher level of environmental conceptions than their counterparts. Among the affective variables studied, leisure interest in science was significantly correlated with environmental attitudes.

Brand Sensitivity and Public Self-Consciousness among Fashion Consumers (패션 소비자들의 브랜드 민감성과 공적 자기의식에 관한 연구)

  • The purposes of this study were to examine the relationship between brand sensitivity and public self-consciousness, and the effects of gender and age on brand sensitivity and public self-consciousness. The subject used for this study were three hundred and thirty-five college students (118 male students and 217 female students). For data analysis, descriptive statistics, Cronbach's alpha, multiple regression, and t-test were used. As the results, first, there were the significant differences between male students and female students on brand sensitivity and public self-consciousness. Female students had higher scores on brand sensitivity and public self-consciousness than male students as expected. Second, there were the significant differences between younger college students and older college students on brand sensitivity and public self-consciousness. Older college students had higher scores on brand sensitivity and public self-consciousness than younger college students. Finally, public self-consciousness influenced on brand sensitivity the most significantly, followed by age variable. Based on these results, brand management marketing strategy of fashion products would be provided.

Vanity type and Attitude toward Fashion Luxury Products of Female College Students - Focused in Ulsan, Pusan, and Kimhae - (여자 대학생의 허영유형에 따른 패션명품에 대한 태도 - 울산, 부산 및 김해 지역을 중심으로 -)

  • Female college consumers are orientated toward vanity and fashion luxury products in consumer society. The purpose of this paper was to investigate the relationship of vanity type and attitude toward fashion luxury products. The data were collected from 517 female college students in Ulsan, Pusan, and Kimhai. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, factor analysis, cluster analysis, and MCA were used. Results of cluster analysis identified the vanity type of the female college students into non-vanity group, positive viewer, and vanity group. Above two third of the total sample were the vanity group and the positive viewer. The non-vanity group, was comprised the smallest proportion of female college students. Attitude toward fashion luxury products was classified into four factors; involvement for fashion luxury, superiority of the fashion luxury, hedonic and conspicious consumption, and negative response. The attitude toward fashion luxury products was significantly different across the 3 vanity type. The results of this study provide insights into female college consumers' increasing demands toward fashion luxury brands. Consumer education should be implemented for the vanity group, and personal financial management education program is needed in liberal arts curriculum.
