Characteristics of Boost Active Power Factor Correction Converter (부스트 능동 역률개선 컨버터의 특성)

  • Switching power supply systems are widely used in many industrial fields. Power factor correction (PFC) circuits have a tendency to be applied in new power supply designs. The PFC circuit with a boost converter using an input power source is studied in this paper. In a boost PFC circuit, there are two feedback control loops: a current feedback loop and a voltage feedback loop. In this paper, the regulation performance gained by using the output voltage and compensator to improve the transient response presented at the continuous conduction mode (CCM) of the boost PFC circuit is analyzed. The validity of the designed boost PFC circuit is confirmed by both MATLAB simulation and experimental results.

  • This paper presents a digital implementation of delta modulation Technique for Active Power Filters. Delta modulated scheme is to control the harmonic-compensating current indirectly by adjusting the capacitor voltage to be sinusoidal. The overall control system has two feedback loops. One is the outer propotional feedback for loop regulating the dc current of active filters and the other is the inner feedback loop for maintaining the ac current waveform to be sinusoidal, and have zero power factor angle(i.e. unity power factor). The characteristics of the proposed is investigated by digital simulation using ACSL and experimental results are obtained by TMS370C756 Single-Chip Microprocessor relative to analog delta modulation technique.

The input active power factor correction (APFC) circuits can be implemented in either the two-stage approach or the single-stage approach. The two-stage approach can be classified into boost type PFC circuit and dc/dc converter. The power factor correction circuit with a boost converter used as an input power source is studied in this paper. In a boost power factor correction circuit there are two feedback control loops, which are a current feedback loop and a voltage feedback loop. Yin Yan Approach to Systems Thinking (음양론에 입각한 시스템 사고의 접근)

  • In this paper, a structural similarity between traditional oriental philosophy and systems thinking is discussed. The polarity of causal relationship and feedback loops can be interpreted in terms of yin and yang of oriental philosophy. A positive feedback loop which is linked to the yang is a force or mechanism that accelerates changes in systems. A negative feedback loop which is linked to the yin can be interpreted as a force oppressing any changes. In this sense, systems thinking can be related to the oriental philosophy. With this linking pin between them, systems thinking can be introduced and educated more friendly in oriental society. Furthermore, systems thinking can get a set of rich insights from the oriental philosophy. This paper suggests a linking leverage between systems thinking and oriental philosophy.

  • This study aims to comprehensively understand the dynamics between the factors related to service quality, satisfaction and reuse intention. The contents of the study are as follows. First, it draws the limitations of the existing studies by reviewing the literature related to the relationships between service quality, satisfaction and reuse intention. Second, it highlights the characteristics of System Dynamics as a means of overcoming their shortcomings as well as examining the dynamic mechanism of the relevant factors. Third, it explores the feedback loops of the relevant key variables and the feedback structure of the system. Lastly, it concludes with the suggestions and implications of the key research findings. This study is expected to emphasize the importance of the feedback mechanism operating around the service quality, satisfaction, and reuse intention. Further, the causal loop diagram developed can be a basic material for the diverse levels of governments as well as service providers to refer to for improving the service quality of Community Social Service Investment Program.

  • The pulse width modulated class D power amplifier has the highest efficiency among various class amplifiers but the performances, such as bandwidth, distortion and stability are inferior to the conventional ones. In this paper, a new class D amplifier design is Presented employing dual feedback loops namely current and voltage feedback. The new design provides wide full-power bandwidth and stability at any load with high efficiency.

Delay Factor Analysis of Public Project Based on System Dynamics (SD를 이용한 공공 프로젝트의 지체요인 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to find what causes make public projects hold off, going beyond the planned deadline and budget. Using System Dynamics(SD) and their derivative Urban Dynamics(UD) models, it intends to analyze major feedback loops based on VENSIM and to simulate them with STELLA software, all of which are interrelated with various causes of project delay. To prevent or ameliorate project delay, first of all it advises to focus on endogenous delaying factors not exogenous ones. These factors either reinforce or balance certain loops in complex causal structure, In the case example on the Cremation Building Project in Cheongju, Residents’ participation demand make negotiation put off and delayed negotiation reinforces administrative-expediency planning in order to observe a time limit, on the other hand, once building consensus, it increase both the level of planning performance and public trust. In the meantime, the real planning process used to neglect residents opinions and manage public grievance only through compensation, he a result of simulation, visible fruit of negotiation in the initial phase seems to be not satisfactory owing to funds and time consumed, but after reaching an mutual agreement among stakeholders, planning performance is effective and strategic than administrative-expediency planning viewed in both financial and time angle. It proposes to devise specific tools schematizing project implementation. In order to upgrade the quality of project management, it recommends for planners to adopt key concepts based on SD/UD diagrams and causal loops, which would contribute to enriching Planning abbots.

  • For safe remote control, information on remote environment has to be delivered to operator realistically, and there have been numerous research efforts on this respect. Among them, haptic technology can significantly enhance safety and overall effectiveness of remote operation by delivering various kinds of information on virtual or real environment to operator. In this study, remote control based on haptic feedback is applied to control of mobile robot moving according to the command from operator avoiding collision with environmental obstacles and maintaining safe distance from them using ultrasonic sensors. Specifically, a remote feedback control structure for mobile robot is proposed. The controller is based on the inner feedback loop that directly utilizes information on distance to obstacles, and the outer feedback loop that the operator directly commands using the haptic device on which the computed reaction force based on the distance information is acting. Effectiveness of the proposed remote control scheme using double feedback loops is verified through a series of experiments on mobile robot.

  • An effective technique to increase the signal swing and reduce noise is to use fully-differential -circuits. However, design of a common-mode feedback (CMFB) circuit that stabilizes the common-mode output level is essential. In this paper, a general description is given to fully-differential amplifiers with their CMFB loops, then a new error amplifier that is just composed of transistors and stabilizes the DC output level is proposed. We designed a simple and efficient bias circuit that allows the stability and maximum input swing. Simulation result shows the enhanced phase margin and increased differential-mode input swing with a proposed error amplifier.

  • Various nonlinear loads such as diode rectifiers, and phase controlled converters connected to at source cause harmonic pollutions in ac mains. Recently some filters have been proposed to minimize the potential problems. This study describes a method to improve the performances of a voltage source active filter. Two feedback loops are used in the scheme : one for reactive power compensation and the other for harmonic eliminations.
