Al합금 펄스 Nd:YAG 레이저 점 용접부의 균열 발생기구 (Mechanism of Crack Formation in Pulse Nd:YAG Laser Spot Welding of Al Alloys)

  • This study was performed to investigate types and formation mechanism of cracks in two Al alloy welds, A5083 and A7N01 spot-welded by pulse Nd : YAG laser, using SEM, EPMA and Micro-XRD. In the weld zone, three types of crack were observed : center line crack({TEX}$C_{C}${/TEX}), diagonal crack({TEX}$C_{D}${/TEX}), and U shape crack({TEX}$C_{U}${/TEX}). Also, HAZ crack({TEX}$C_{H}${/TEX}) was observed in the HAZ region, furthermore, mixing crack({TEX}$C_{M}${/TEX}) consisting of diagonal crack and HAZ crack was observed. White film was formed at th hot crack region in the fractured surface after it was immersed to 10% NaOH water. In the case of A5083 alloy, white films in {TEX}$C_{C}${/TEX} crack and {TEX}$C_{D}${/TEX} crack region were composed of low melting phases, {TEX}$Fe_{2}SiAl_{8}${/TEX} and eutectic phases, $Mg_2$Al$_3$ and $Mg_2$Si. Such films observed $CuAl_2$, {TEX}$Mg_{32}(Al,Zn)_{3}${/TEX}, MgZn$_2$, $Al_2$CuMg and $Mg_2$Si were observed in the whitely etched films near {TEX}$C_{C}${/TEX} crack and {TEX}$C_{D}${/TEX} crack regions. The formation of liquid films was due to the segregation of Mg, Si, Fe in the case of A5083 alloy and Zn, Mg, Cu, Sim in the case of A7N01 alloy, respectively. The {TEX}$C_{C}${/TEX} and {TEX}$C_{D}${/TEX} cracks were regarded as a result of the occurrence of tensile strain during the welding process. The formation of {TEX}$C_{M}${/TEX} crack is likely to be due to the presence of liquid film at the grain boundary near the fusion line in the base metal as well as in the weld fusion zone during solidification. The {TEX}$C_{U}${/TEX} crack is considered a result of the collapsed keyhole through incomplete closure during rapid solidification.

  • The films with ferromagnetic fine particles dispersed in nonmagnetic matrix, such as $Fe-Al_2O_3$ and Fe-Cu have been studied for use of magnetic recording medium, optically device and sensor. Their magnetic properties depend strongly on structural parameter such as size and volume fraction of ferromagnetic particles. Fe-Cr-Ni alloy sputtered films also have microstructure with ferromagnetic -- b.c.c phase and nonmagnetic f.c.c phase grains. Magnetic properties of these films depend strongly on such a unique structure. These are depend on the ratio in volume of ferromagnetic particles to nonmagnetic ones $V_F/V_N$, the saturation magnetization Ms increased with increase of $V_F/V_N$. The coercivity Hc of the as-deposited films took maximum value of about 200 Oe at adequate $V_F/V_N$ and then Ms and Squareness S were 500 emu/cc and 0.5, respectively.(omitted)

Fe-(Mo,Mn)-P계 Lean alloy의 소결특성에 미치는 Si와 Sn의 영향 (The Effects of Si or Sn on the Sintered Properties of Fe-(Mo,Mn)-P Lean alloy)

  • A lean alloy is defined as a low alloy steel that minimizes the content of the alloying elements, while maintaining the characteristics of the sintered alloy. The purpose of this study is to determine the change in microstructure and mechanical properties due to the addition of silicon or tin in Fe-Mo-P, Fe-Mn-P, and Fe-Mo-Mn-P alloys. Silicon- or tin-added F-Mo-P, Fe-Mn-P, and Fe-Mo-Mn-P master alloys were compacted at 700 MPa and subsequently sintered under a $H_2-N_2$ atmosphere at $1120^{\circ}C$. The sintered density of three alloy systems decreases under the same compacting pressure due to dimensional expansion with increasing Si content. As the diffusion rate in the Fe-P-Mo system is higher than that in the Fe-P-Mn system, the decrease in the sintered density is the largest in the Fe-P-Mn system. The sintered density of Sn added alloys does not change with the increasing Sn content due to the effect of non-dimensional changes. However, the effect of Si addition on the transverse rupture strengthening enhancement is stronger than that of Sn addition in these lean alloys.

Fe-Cr-Al계 합금 빌렛의 상온 표면균열 원인에 관한 연구 (Study on the Origins of Surface Cracks at Room Temperature in Fe-Cr-Al Alloy Billets)

  • Metallurgical and mechanical experiments were performed to explain unexpected surface cracks encountered in fabricating ground rolled-billet of Fe-Cr-Al alloys at room temperature. The toughness of these alloys containing between 220 and 236 ppm (C+N) has been assessed using notched-bar impact tests. According to our results, with a larger grain size, a higher interstitial content of (C+N) or a smaller size of precipitates, ductile to brittle temperature(DBTT) increased and absorbed energy decreased at room temperature. These results suggest that the surface cracks at room temperature stem from a poor resistance to brittle fracture, due to dislocation movement by the finely dispersed carbides within grains under the condition of higher (C+N) content.

  • The effect of Air/$C_3H_8$ gas addition on the compound layer growth of steels nitrocarburised in $NH_3+Air+C_3H_8$ mixed gas atmospheres was investigated. It is considered that amount of residual $NH_3$ was varied according to alternation of Air/$C_3H_8$ mixing ratio and volume content. The compound layer formed from nitrocarburising was composed of ${\varepsilon}-Fe_{2-3}$(C, N) and ${\gamma}^{\prime}-Fe_4$(C, N). According as Air/$C_3H_8$ mixing ratio increased, the superficial content of ${\gamma}^{\prime}-Fe_4$(C, N) within the compound layer was increased, at the same time the growth rate of compound layer and porous layer was increased. In the case of alloy steel at the fixed gas composition, the growth rate of compound layer and porous layer was worse than carbon steel and compound layer phase composition structure primarily consisted of E phase. As the carbon content of materials was increasing in the given gas atmospheres, the growth rate of compound layer and porous layer was increased and the superficial content of ${\varepsilon}-Fe_{2-3}$(C, N) within the compound layer was increased.

  • A lean alloy is defined as a low alloy steel with a minimum amount of the alloying element that maintains the characteristics of the sintered alloy. It is well known that the addition of elements such as Cr, P, Si, or Mn improves the mechanical characteristics of the alloy, but decreases the sinterability. The mother alloy is used to avoid an oxidation reaction with the alloying elements of Cr, P, Si or Mn. The purpose of this study is to determine the change in the mechanical properties of Fe-P-Mo and Fe-P-Mn alloys as a result of the addition of Si. In this article, the Fe-P-Mo and Fe-P-Mn alloys to which Si is added are compacted at $7.0g/cm^3$ and then sintered in $H_2-N_2$ at $1120^{\circ}C$. The P around the macropores and large grains reduces due to the formation of $SiO_2$ as the Si content increases. This is caused by the increase in strength owing to reducing intergranular fracture by suppressing the reaction with oxygen.

  • Fe-(8.5, 18.5, 28.3, 36.9) wt% Cr alloys were corroded between 600 and $800^{\circ}C$ for up to 70 h in a 1 atm gas mixture that consisted of 0.0242 atm of $H_2S$, 0.031 atm of water vapor, and 0.9448 atm of nitrogen gas. Their corrosion resistance increased with an increment in the Cr content. The Fe-8.5%Cr alloy corroded fast, forming thick, fragile, nonadherent scales that consisted primarily of an outer FeS layer and an inner (Fe, Cr, O, S)-mixed layer. The outer FeS layer grew into the air by the outward diffusion of $Fe^{2+}$ ions, whereas the inner mixed layer grew by the inward diffusion of oxygen and sulfur ions. At the interface of the outer and inner scales, voids developed and cracking occurred. The Fe-(18.5, 28.3, 36.9)% Cr alloys displayed much better corrosion resistance than the Fe-8.5Cr alloy, because thin $Cr_2O_3$ or $Cr_2S_3$ scales formed.

기계적 합금화에 의한 (V, Fe)-N계 비정질 합금의 제조 및 구조변화 (Mechanical alloying effect and structural observation of (V, Fe)-N amorphous alloy powders)

  • 본 연구에서는 기계적 합금화(MA)에 의한 고상-기상반응에 있어서 질소원자가 V-Fe계 합금의 비정질화에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 유성형 볼밀을 사용하여 $V_{70}Fe_{30}$혼합분말을 질소가스 분위기 중 MA 처리하였다. 그 결과 160시간 MA 처리에 의하여 비정질상이 생성됨을 알 수 있었다. 160시간 동안 MA 처리한 ($V_{70}Fe$_{30}$)_{0.89}N_{0.11}$ 분말시료의 열분석 결과 약 $600^{\circ}C$에 비정질상의 결정화에 의한 발열 peak가 관찰되었다. 또한 bcc 결정에서 비정질상으로의 구조변화 과정을 X선 및 중성자 회절법을 통하여 조사하였으며, 특히 중성자회절에서는 V원자의 중성자에 대한 간섭성 핵산란진폭이 매우 작은 특징을 이용하였다. 그 결과, 이 합금계에서의 비정질화는 모든 결정구조에서 전형적으로 존재하는 8면체 unit가 우선적으로 붕괴되어 4면체 unit로 변환되어 가는 과정임을 알 수 있었다. 또한 중성자 회절에 의한 구조해석 결과 질소원자는 V원자로 이루어진 다면체의 중심에 위치하고 있음을 알 수 있었다.

80Ni-20Fe Permalloy 박모 동시석출 기구에 관한 전기화학적 고찰 (An Electrochemical Analysis on the Alloy Deposition of 80Ni-20Fe Permalloy Thin Film)

  • 80% Ni-Permalloy is soft magnetic material with high initial permeability and low magnetic coercive force Hc, and is used to computer memory cores and minirelays of communication e-ngineering. In this paper 80 Permalloy thin film on copper cathode was alloy-deposited from Watts so-lution contatining FeSO4$.$7H2O. The amount of FeSO4$.$7H2O in the solution, pH, temperature of the solution and plating current density were varied as parameters and the resulting comp-osition changes of deposited film were analyzed electrochemically with respect to the parame-ters. From the above procedure electroplating conditions for deposition of 80 Permalloy were est-ablished as following: 17-21 g/$\ell$ of FeSO4$.$7H2O in Watts solution, current density 1.0-2.0 Amp/dm2, pH 2.5-3.0 and temperature range of 50-60$^{\circ}C$.
