Application of Joint Electro-Chemical Detection for Gas Insulated Switchgear Fault Diagnosis

  • The integrity of the gas insulated switchgear (GIS) is vital to the safety of an entire power grid. However, there are some limitations on the techniques of detecting and diagnosing partial discharge (PD) induced by insulation defects in GIS. This paper proposes a joint electro-chemical detection method to resolve the problems of incomplete PD data source and also investigates a new unique fault diagnosis method to enhance the reliability of data processing. By employing ultra-high frequency method for online monitoring and the chemical method for detecting SF6 decomposition offline, the acquired data can form a more complete interpretation of PD signals. By utilizing DS evidence theory, the diagnostic results with tests on the four typical defects show the validity of the new fault diagnosis system. With higher accuracy and lower computation cost, the present research provides a promising way to make a more accurate decision in practical application.

  • In this paper, the novel approach for the fault diagnosis of the bearing equipped with rotational mechanical facilities was studied. As research works, by applying the ball bearing used extensively in many industrial fields, experiments were conducted in order to propose the new prognostic method about the condition monitoring for the rotational bodies based on the condition analysis of infrared thermography. Also, by using the vibration spectrum analysis, the real time monitoring was performed. As results, it was confirmed that infrared thermography method could be adapted into monitor and diagnose the fault for bearing by evaluating quantitatively and qualitatively the temperature characteristics according to the condition of the ball bearing.

  • The fault detection and diagnosis of rotating machinery widely used in plants including the ship are important for maintaining the performance of Plants. Recently, the wavelet transform has been recognized an efficient method to detect a little variation of physical quantities by the synchronous localization of time and frequency domains using the translation and dilation of signals. In this Paper, In order to develop efficient and reliable fault detection and diagnosis system rotating machines, the performance of wavelet transformation to detect a little variation of machine status and neural network to diagnose the cause of machine faults are investigated and experimented.

  • High impedance fault (HIF) is defined as fault the general overcurrent relay can not detect or interrupt. Especially when HIF occur in residential areas, energized high voltage conductor results in fire hazard, equiment damage or personal threat. This paper proposes the model of HIF in transmission line using the ZnO arrester and resistance to be implemented within EMTP. Wavelet transform is efficient and useful for the detection of HIF in power system, because it uses variable windows according to frequency. HIF detection method using wavelet transform can distinguish HIF from similar phenomena like arcfurance load, capacitor bank switching and line switching.

  • In this paper, an efficient FFT-based fault detection algorithm is proposed. In our proposed method, fault detection is accomplished by process similar to the conventional FFT-based fault detection. However, the proposed technique adopts fast algorithms for preprocessing, where the conventional operation such as averaging is replaced with recursive average operation that outperforms the former in computational cost.   • Spin coaters are the essential instruments in micro-fabrication processes, which apply uniform thin films to flat substrates. In this research, a spin coater diagnosis system is developed to detect the abnormal operation of TFT-LCD process in real time. To facilitate the real-time data acquisition and analysis, the circular-buffered continuous data transfer and the short-time Fourier transform are applied to the fault diagnosis system. To determine whether the system condition is normal or not, a steady-state detection algorithm and a frequency spectrum comparison algorithm using confidence interval are newly devised. Since abnormal condition of a spin coater is rarely encountered, algorithm is tested on a CD-ROM drive and the developed program is verified by a function generator. Actual threshold values for the fault detection are tuned in a spin coater in process.

  • In this paper, we introduce a live wire power transmission line fault detection system using time-frequency domain reflectometry(TFDR). The TFDR is known that is more precise method than the other conventional ones. However, the TFDR is generally adopted only in fault detection for communication cable, and dead line power transmission line. Therefore, this paper suggests a TFDR system with coupler which separates 220V, 60Hz signal and TFDR reference signal for implementation the live wire fault detection system. This approach is verified by circuit simulation.

  • As financial transactions using mobile devices have been activated, mobile payment services have appeared and many changes have been made to the existing financial service methods. Due to the simplified payment method of mobile payment service, security threats such as personal information leakage, phishing damage, and malicious code are increasing. Research that can solve this is needed. In this paper, we discuss the features and security factors of mobile payment system. In order to improve the security of mobile payment system, we propose a fault analysis method based on frequency of occurrence using Fault Fishbone Analysis(FFA) technique.

  • Acoustic Emission(AE) is widely used for early detection of faults for rotating machinery in these days because of its high sensitivity. AE signal has to need for transferring to low frequency range for the spectrum analysis included the fault mechanism. In transferring process, we lose a lot of fault information caused by unusable signal processing method. Discrete Wavelet Transform(DWT) is a method of signal processing for AE signatures, but the pattern of its mother function is not optimized with AE signals. So, we can lose the fault information when we want to use the DWT for AE signal. Therefore, in this paper, we will propose a novel pattern for DWT mother function, which is optimized with AE signals. And it will be applied to compare the results of DWT by daubechie and novel pattern.
