독성가스 감지용 센서 기술 동향 리뷰 (Review on Sensor Technology to Detect Toxic Gases)

  • The excess use and generation of various toxic gases from many industrial complexes and plant facilities have increased the possibility of leakage or explosion accidents, which can cause fatal damage to human beings in the wide range of neighboring area. To prevent the exposure to the fatal toxic gases, it is very important to monitor the leakage of toxic gases using gas sensors in real time. Various types of gas sensors, which can be classified as semiconductor, electrochemical, optical, and catalytic combustion types according to the operating principles, have been developed. In this review, the operation principles of gas sensors are explained and the performance of those sensors is compared. The state-of-the-art gas sensor technologies developed by research institutes or companies are reviewed also.

  • The problem of qualitative reliability system is very important issue in the digitalized nuclear power plant, because the failure of its system brings about extravagant economic loss, extensive environment destruction, and fatal damage of human. Therefore this study is to develop the reliability evaluation model through the normalized scoring model by the quantitative and qualitative factors considering the advanced safety factors In the Advanced Pressurized water Reactor 1400MWe(APR 1400) under uncertainty Especially, the qualitative factors considering the information and human factors for the systematic and rational justification have been closely analyzed. The reliability evaluation model can be simply applied in real fields in order to minimize the industrial accident and human error in the digitalized nuclear power plant.

Therefore the purpose of this study has developed the reliability evaluation model through the scoring model by the quantitative and qualitative factors in order to justify the evaluation considering the advanced safety factors in the Advanced Pressurized water Reactor 1400MWe(APR 1400MWe) under uncertainty. Especially, the qualitative factors considering the human, information control, and quality factors for the systematic and rational justification have been closely analyzed.   • Bee venom (BV) has long been used in traditional Eastern and Western medicine for chronic inflammation, pain and skin therapy. Human exposure to BV, however, often causes unwanted adverse effects and is even fatal in some cases. Phospholipase $A_2$ ($PLA_2$) of BV is now suspected to play a key role in these adverse effects. We investigated the potential use of $PLA_2$-free bee venom (PBV) as a replacement for BV in cosmetic products. PBV prepared by molecular weight cut-off ultrafiltration exhibits a superior profile in comparison with regular BV, by inhibiting elastase activity and suppressing the induction of nitric oxide (NO) and metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9), while retaining the effects of cell proliferation and protection against ultraviolet B (UVB)-induced damage in human dermal fibroblast cells. PBV thus appears to be more promising than BV as a cosmetic ingredient with a reduced potential for adverse reactions in the recipient.

  • 1) Table salt (=NaCl=common salt=salt) is scientifically characterized, and the significant role in dietary and daily life has generally been discussed from the standpoint of human ecology. 2) In dietary life, salt fundamentally gives a deliciousness to dishes and nutro-physiologically functions to keep homeostasis in the body. Meanwhile, the excessive intake of salt often causes the high blood pressure and induces several fatal diseases. 3) In daily life, salt derivatives(Na-, Cl-compound) are quite useful widely over food, clothing and housing. Meanwhile, some of them especially organochlorine compounds often pollute the environment and damage the humans and or ecology as so-called environmental hormone resulting in dioxins. 4) For the ambivalence of salt in health and environment, humans, but not salt, are wholly responsible. The fact would go not only to salt but also generally to resources on the earth. 5) Humans should adequately be moderate in utilizations and consumptions of salt and or resources. Everything must be kept with in bounds. This conception would surely bring the stable maintenance and the sound development to the system of human ecology as well as global ecology.

무인기 대응 간 대공무기 파편에 의한 피해 가능성 연구 (A Study on the Possibility of Damage by Anti-aircraft Debris between the Response of Unmanned Aircraft)

  • 적 무인기가 거대 도시지역에 침투 시 다양한 형태의 대공화기들이 넓은 지역에 배치되어 대응한다. 대공무기의 특징상 다량으로 비행체에 대해서 사격함으로 명중탄을 제외한 잔여탄은 자체 폭발 후 다양한 크기의 파편으로 낙하한다. 파편이 지상으로 낙하하면서 인명에게 피해를 줄 수 있는 임계속도, 파편질량, 파편 초기속도, 물체충돌 속도 등 4가지 요소를 도출하여 대공포와 유도무기로 구분하여 피해율을 분석하였다. 앞으로 북은 비대칭전력인 무인기를 활동하여 수도서울에 대한 침투가 예상됨으로 대응 간 인명 피해 최소화를 위해 사전 피탄지역과 사격제한지역을 설정해 둠으로서 피해를 최소화 할 수 있을 것이다.

  • The specific feature of trains as a means of transportation is that, on one side, at once they can carry big loads but, at the same time, if an accident occurs, it potentially leads to many human casualties or big material losses. Especially, train accidents caused by bad weather conditions result in many fatal losses of human lives and property. In Korea many railways run either in mountainous areas or along rivers thus making them especially susceptible to natural hazards. The types of damages inflicted by heavy rains resulting from rapidly changing meteorological conditions are diverse; and not only their scope is big but also they repeat regularly. Consequently, this study analyses the reasons why such effects of heavy rains on the railway conditions, damage to the railways caused by heavy rains or cases of stone fall as well as other types of accidents are not avoided. Study also, on the basis of laws related to movement in poor weather conditions and specifics of train braking, identifies systematic and technical problems and suggests and emphasizes new complex measures on their prevention.

  • 에너지 산업시설물은 다양한 종류의 가스나 유해물질을 다루고 있어 화재, 폭발, 독성물질 노출로 인한 대규모 중대사고로 전이되어 산업시설 종사자뿐만 아니라 외부 민간인에게도 치명적인 피해를 입힐 수 있다. 이러한 사고를 방지하기 위해 정량적 위험성평가를 활용하여 인체나 건물에 미칠 수 있는 영향에 대한 정량화를 시도하고 있지만 예외적인 상황에 즉각적인 처리가 어렵고 시나리오를 위한 전문가적 지식이 많이 필요하였다. 본 논문은 에너지 대규모 산업시설에서 실제 환경의 데이터를 실시간으로 이용함으로써 동적인 시나리오를 생성하여 예외적인 상황과 전문가적 지식을 최소화하고 개인 인지적 환경에 적합하게 위험을 표현하는 것이 목적이다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 실시간 정보를 기반으로 현 시점의 지역 내 위험도를 실시간으로 연산할 수 있는 데이터베이스와 증분적 모델을 적용한 지역기반 위험 분석 시스템을 설계하고 구현하였다.

Human Pluripotent Stem Cell-Derived Alveolar Organoids: Cellular Heterogeneity and Maturity

  • Chronic respiratory diseases such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and respiratory infections injure the alveoli; the damage evoked is mostly irreversible and occasionally leads to death. Achieving a detailed understanding of the pathogenesis of these fatal respiratory diseases has been hampered by limited access to human alveolar tissue and the differences between mice and humans. Thus, the development of human alveolar organoid (AO) models that mimic in vivo physiology and pathophysiology has gained tremendous attention over the last decade. In recent years, human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) have been successfully employed to generate several types of organoids representing different respiratory compartments, including alveolar regions. However, despite continued advances in three-dimensional culture techniques and single-cell genomics, there is still a profound need to improve the cellular heterogeneity and maturity of AOs to recapitulate the key histological and functional features of in vivo alveolar tissue. In particular, the incorporation of immune cells such as macrophages into hPSC-AO systems is crucial for disease modeling and subsequent drug screening. In this review, we summarize current methods for differentiating alveolar epithelial cells from hPSCs followed by AO generation and their applications in disease modeling, drug testing, and toxicity evaluation. In addition, we review how current hPSC-AOs closely resemble in vivo alveoli in terms of phenotype, cellular heterogeneity, and maturity.
