Speed Control System of Induction Motor with Fuzzy-Sliding Mode Controller for Traction Applications

  • The application of a sliding mode control for improving the dynamic response of an induction motor based speed control system is presented in this paper and provides attractive features, such as fast response, good transient performance, and insensitivity to variations in plant parameters and external disturbance. However, chattering is a difficult problem for which the sliding mode control is a popular solution. This paper presents a new fuzzy-sliding mode controller for a sensorless vector-controlled induction motor servo system to practically eliminate the chattering problem for traction applications. A DSP based implementation of the speed control system is employed. Experimental results are presented using a propulsion system simulator. The performance of the drive is shown to be practically free from chattering.

  • This paper presents identification and control of a surface mounting system. The mount head of the system is modeled to analyze its dynamic characteristics, which is critical to the placement performance of the mounter. Based on this model, an identification work is carried out to estimate the modeled parameters by using genetic algorithm (GA), which plays a role of minimizing an error between the actual response and the model response. Having obtained the identified parameters, we design a disturbance observer control to compensate the friction. The disturbance observer can estimate the friction force and the uncertainty of the system. From the experimental results, it is found that the proposed disturbance observer plus PID controller show a better performance than PID controller alone.   • In this paper, we present optimization technique for the response time of DVR (Dynamic Voltage Restorer) and the possible compensation range of voltage dip by the DVR system. To protect 3-phase phase-controlled rectifier from voltage dip, DVR system needs to have optimum response time as an important design factor. Although the fast response time of DVR ensures wider range of voltage dip, DVR controller has so high cost and poor stability. This paper proposes DVR system with optimum response time required for certain intensity of voltage dips and good stability to support possible compensation range of voltage dip. Proposed technique showed optimum response time and good stability for overall system. We believe that proposed technique is reliable and useful in DVR design.

Fast-Transient Repetitive Control Strategy for a Three-phase LCL Filter-based Shunt Active Power Filter

  • A fast-transient repetitive control strategy for a three-phase shunt active power filter is presented in this study to improve dynamic performance without sacrificing steady-state accuracy. The proposed approach requires one-sixth of the fundamental period required by conventional repetitive control methods as the repetitive control time delay in the synchronous reference frames. Therefore, the proposed method allows the system to achieve a fast dynamic response, and the program occupies minimal storage space. A proportional-integral regulator is also added to the current control loop to eliminate arbitrary-order harmonics and ensure system stability under severe harmonic distortion conditions. The design process of the corrector in the fast-transient repetitive controller is also presented in detail. The LCL filter resonance problem is avoided by the appropriately designed corrector, which increases the margin of system stability and maintains the original compensation current tracking accuracy. Finally, experimental results are presented to verify the feasibility of the proposed strategy.

  • A precision high voltage generator for ion injection is implemented on HFZVS-PSCI (High Frequency Zero-Voltage-Switching Phase-Shift-Controlled Inverter). Some practical aspects of implementing precision high voltage generator with HFZVS-PSCI, such as a HFHV transformer, multiflier, and precision CR divider are discussed. The results show that the generator under the Phase-Shift-Controller has a fast dynamic response, low ripple voltage, and high accuracy.

  • The application of Sliding Mode Control for inproving the dynamic response of a Multi-Phase-Bipolar (MPB) Brushless DC motor based position Brushless DC motor system is presented. Sliding Mode Control gives fast dynamic response with no overshoot and zero steady state error. It has the important feature of bins highly robust. A design procedure is outlined for the Sliding Mode Controller for a MPB Brushless DC motor. Digital computer simulation of the overall position control system is carried out using a time domain model in the d-q reference frame.

고안정 전류제어 전원장치 (A Highly Stable Current-Controlled Power Supply)

  • A design of a highly stable current-controlled power supply combining the phase-controlled rectifier (PCR), passive filter and active filter is investigated. A digital phase-looked voltage control (PLVC) with a capability of compensating the thyristor firing angles under unvalanced power source is proposed` otherwise the PCR output voltage has low-order subharmonics whose suppression requires a bulky passive filter. The digital PLVC has a fast dynamic characteristics as an inner control loop of the PCR. To suppress further the output ripple, an active filter using a transformer is introduced and its design is described through the frequency domain analysis. An optimal integral, proportional and measurable variable feedback (IPM) controller is designed using the time-weighted performance index based on the time domain analysis. The design method based on the time-weighted performance index gives better response characteristics than that based on the conventional performance index. It is also shown via experimental results that the proposed scheme gives better response characteristics than that based on the conventional performance index. An Enhanced Harmonic Voltage Compensator for General Loads in Stand-alone Distributed Generation Systems

  • This paper develops an enhanced harmonic voltage compensator which is implemented with the aid of two repetitive controllers (RCs) in order to improve the output voltage performance of stand-alone distributed generation (DG) systems. The proposed harmonic voltage compensator is able to maintain the DG output voltage sinusoidal regardless of the use of nonlinear and/or unbalanced loads in the load side. In addition, it can offer good steady-state performance under various types of loads and a very fast dynamic response under load variations to overcome the slow dynamic response issue of the traditional RC. The feasibility of the proposed control strategy is verified through simulations and experiments.

  • The purpose of this paper is to develop the straightforward design guidelines of PD/PID speed controller for Industry servo drives with plug and play concept. The controller gains are uniquely determined from the current control loop dynamics, speed loop delay, and mechanical parameters. In order to eliminate the mechanical friction uncertainties, an automatic PD/PI control mode switching algorithm Is introduced using online spectrum analysis of motor torque command. The dynamic performance of the proposed scheme assures a fast tracking response curve with minimal oscillation and settling time over the whole operating conditions. For comprehensive comparison of conventional PI control scheme, extensive test is carried out on actual servo system.

  • This paper proposes a deadbeat current controller using predictive current method for three-phase shunt active power filter (SAPF). In proposed controller, the compensating current reference which is necessary for the deadbeat control is estimated by using the predictive current method. This method can improve the accuracy of compensation and ensure the fast dynamic response of SAPF. Simulations have been carried out to demonstrate the perfomance of SAPF using proposed control method.
